Chapter 301 An Unexpected Check-Up

"Hey Dr. Valentin, It's me, Lee Seng." Lee Seng replied. "I was wondering what you wanted to talk to me about?"

"Oh, Lee Seng! It seems my message has gotten through to you from Miss Walts." Dr. Valentin chuckled. Lee Seng sat on the small couch, sliding to the side so he could lie on it. "I wanted to ask you to come in for another check up. Ever since yesterday, I've been getting reports from the other doctors that there's been some strange signatures occurring with you."

"Some strange signatures?" Lee Seng questioned. "What do you mean by that?"

"Well, your DM values don't quite match up with what it was a week ago. I just wanted to conduct some tests to see what happened." Dr. Valentin explained. Lee Seng wished he could tell the doctor about what he found out while he was in Daros. He had learned that the serum he got injected with had stopped his DM energy flows. He still didn't have an idea what those creepy tendrily worms did, but ever since he got cleansed and drank the herbal remedy Halys had left for him, he's been feeling a lot better.

"Lee Seng? Are you still there?" Dr. Valentin's voice spoke loudly.

"Huh?" Lee Seng snapped out of thought. "What did you say, Dr. Valentin?"

"Did you space out? I asked if you were able to come by soon for testing. If you can't, I will come myself. The Third Year Hospital building has all of the tools I need."

"Oh, uh," Lee Seng looked around. "My friend is still in the hospital with me and I feel bad if I leave him. Hopefully it doesn't bother you too much if you come here." Lee Seng was already apologizing for causing the older doctor more work.

"Do not worry about it, my boy. I will come now since I'm free. I'll see you in a bit."

"Alright, see you then, doc."

"See you in a bit."

Click.

Lee seng stared at the phone and sighed.

"An unexpected check-up? All because my DM values don't match? Do I even need to make an excuse for that? There should be a scientific answer for that, right?" Lee Seng brushed his hair back as he sat up. "I guess I'll go tell Ritsuka."

He wandered back into Ritsuka's room, pushing the door open as he listened to the sounds of grunting. He closed the door behind him and wandered past the curtain to see Ritsuka, shirtless, working out on the floor.

"So you've decided to workout since you can't do anything?" Lee seng asked. Ritsuka did the rest of his push-ups before he looked up at Lee Seng.

"Yup. Even if my stomach hurts, it'll go away after a while, right?" He moved into a sitting position on the floor.

"So you're gonna do sit-ups to make it hurt even more? I don't understand that logic. You're a masochist or something?"

"Shut up."

"Well, I'll be in the other room. Dr. Valentin's coming over for a check up."

"Why?"

"Apparently they did DM value tests on me while I was out."

"Is that even necessary?"

"I don't know. They said my DM values didn't match up with the ones on record, so the doc wants to do the process now." He stood up and turned.

"Alright." Ritsuka slowly did a sit up. He could feel the pain in his stomach burning but it didn't feel as hard as the first and second time. "Come back later if you get bored."

"Sure, see ya."

"Bye."

Lee Seng was lying on his bed by the time Dr. Valentin showed up.

"Sorry, that took longer than I thought it would." Dr. Valentin apologized as he entered the room. He closed the door behind him and passed the curtain. He held the tablet in his hand. "I had some stuff to attend to before I came here. Hopefully you aren't too bummed about waiting an extra half hour for me."

"Oh?" Lee Seng looked up. "It's fine. I was reading." He kept himself propped up against the wall as Dr. Valentin tapped on the tablet. He pressed a couple of buttons and eventually the room began to hum.

"Alright, let's get down to it." Dr. Valentin announced. They began their usual process. Lee Seng would get scanned for abnormalities and the two would casually catch up. Dr. Valentin mentioned the arena match yesterday, so Lee Seng filled him in on it. Dr. Valentin nodded as Lee Seng finished his recollection of events. He tapped away at his tablet.

"That seems like a very scary time. I can't believe you and your friend managed to handle the situation well. How can you even absorb the energy like it's nothing?" Dr. Valentin asked.

"Well… I guess I can suck things in with my gravity abilities?" Lee Seng shrugged. "I haven't really figured it out all the way, yet, but it's a process."

"That's good that you're making progress with your ability. Hopefully your progress continues and you can make more progress. It's good to see your progress." Dr. Valentin's eyes focused on the data on his tablet. "That's strange. Your DM values aren't the same like they were two weeks ago… It's completely different now. You have a lot more, but these specific points in your system… They have some sort of odd leftover residue that's fading. If I had more time to understand this, I think we could figure out the reason for why this is happening.

"It looks like the DM values have become thinner and more normal than when it was thick. I always thought the thickness was a byproduct or caused by your tail. It has thinned out and it looks like you have more of it. And these rings, they have thick rings around them. I don't think I've seen anything like this before."

"Do you think something could've messed with my energy channels?" Lee Seng casually asked. Dr. Valentin looked up from his tablet and gave Lee Seng a strange look.

"How do you know about energy channels? They're really hard to map right now, but we're slowly getting a better idea of what it looks like."

Lee Seng moved over to the doctor and looked at the tablet.

"If you look here, this is where one of the rings exists. I wonder what could've done that." Dr. Valentin showed Lee Seng where it was. Lee Seng simply nodded.

'It's because of the serum the Creator gave me. I guess you wouldn't know about it, huh?' Lee Seng thought.

"Strange." Lee Seng replied. "What do you think happened there? Do you think the energy channels were disrupted or something?"

"It would mean that there would have to be something living within your system that would have to do that sort of damage. You went from no Dark Matter to having Dark Matter after three years of not having it. What if there was something that could've blocked it?" Dr. Valentin theorized.

'Does he really not know?' Lee Seng wondered. 'I thought he would know about this sort of thing off the bat. I guess the Creator even hid that from him.'

"Whatever's the cause, it's not there anymore. Could something like that just randomly happen as time goes on?" Lee Seng asked.

"Possibly?" Dr. Valentin brushed his beard. "If you somehow constantly kept yourself pressured with enough gravity going through your body, I think it could easily happen. But if I'm being honest, I'm not sure if that would help you more or not."

"It could be an endurance test of sorts. Build some resistance to that sort of thing?" Lee Seng shrugged.

"Mmm, could happen. For now, I shall keep a note on this. I'll look into it and let you know if I find anything else. For now, you just need to continue practicing at a good pace. If you do that, I think you can make a full recovery." Dr. Valentin moved his tablet to his side and turned to face Lee Seng. "Take it easy today, alright? I'm surprised you guys didn't take any damage at all during the whole arena incident but heat fatigue is a serious matter. Stay hydrated and do light exercise. Don't go too hard, got it?"

"Yes, sir. I won't push myself too hard. You don't have to worry about me. Even if something did happen, Manny's back to be my personal healer." Lee Seng smiled.

"You always make that joke." Dr. Valentin rolled his eyes. "I'm leaving now. I got to attend to other matters. If you feel any discomfort and/or anything else, don't hesitate to call me, alright?"

"Sure thing, doc. I'll let you know if anything occurs."

"Alright, I'll see you next time, alright?" Dr. Valentin started to walk and then stopped. "Oh yeah, are you doing anything this Thanksgiving?"

"Uhhh…" Lee Seng shook his head after thinking about it for a while. "I don't think I am. Why?"

"You should come join me and my family for Thanksgiving dinner."

"Oh, well… I'll think about it and let you know."

"My home is open for you. I could even get 9 and 10 to come over if you want."

"If I do come, I'll tag along with Manny."

"Alright, I'll see you later then, Lee Seng."

"Bye, doc." Lee Seng waved.
