"Even as we speak, he still has to do all of this alone." Gorrum's voice spoke as Keng reached the gate. "He doesn't have a big family like you all do. He may be smart, naturally gifted at fighting, problem solving, etc. But all of that doesn't matter if he loses his partner. So please guide him well, young ones."
"Please forgive him for us." Gorrum and Elder Jyu'so bowed in unison. Two well-known Fox Spirits were bowing in front of the Wang family. Winn bit his lip, shrinking in his seat. The way he acted might have been understandable to anyone in his situation, but he couldn't help but truthfully think that he was a bit too harsh.
"Elder Jyu'so, Sir Gorrum." Lily's voice spoke up as the two slowly rose. Her father and brothers turned to look at her. There was a serious look in her eye as she stood up. "Do you think my brother will wake up if we completely eradicate the Vengeance Curse? Is that what's needed?"
"It's information straight from the Library of the Saviors, themselves." Elder Jyu'so nodded. "There are only three Saviors in the Realms, currently. Lee Seng and Keng are two of them. If they both perish from their ill-fate, it'll be up to you Lily to gather and train Saviors. The weight of the Saviors will be up to you."
"So," Gorrum chimed in. "There's much to learn. That's why the Elder and I are here. I believe Fate has lead us to be together so we can teach you the ways of the Realms, so you are prepared for the hard journey ahead. The journey of the Savior that you three must walk."
"Do not feel bad for what you did." Elder Jyu'so spoke as Keng suppressed his emotions and exited the Village. He took a look around and started left out of the gate. "Your feelings are justified just like mine is. We will wrong many people in our lives, burn many bridges, misunderstandings piling between us in our life times. But for all of us, we must believe the one who can fix it, the one who's incompetent, the one who doesn't know what to do, will fix it."
Fan'r nodded and looked at Lily and then to his sons. Winn's face was always the first indication of how he was feeling. Even though Bright and Winn were twins, Winn expressed his emotions better than he could actually talk about it while Bright kept his emotions in check and could talk about it well. Jacob simply nodded, thoughts somewhere else as Lily simply stood in her spot. The wheels in her head were going. Fan'r would let his children, especially Lily, make their own decisions on these things.
'If they need help, I will be here.' Fan'r nodded.
"So, what's needed to be done then?" Fan'r asked.
"He's going to section off the Curse. Hopefully nobody else has wandered over there since then."
"Why?" Lily asked.
"Lord B'haru's writing and other texts indicated that Vengeance Curses were one of the few Curses that could inhabit a temporary space after 'death.' If anyone were to walk around that area when it returns…"
"It won't be good!" Lily finished the sentence. She lifted her hand up and the ukulele flew into her hand. "I'm sorry, Dad, Elder Jyu'so, Sir Gorrum! I-I have to go check on some people!"
"L-Lily!" Bright stood up and shouted her name as they all watched the young pink-haired girl rush out of the house.
"Dad, what do we do now?" Jacob looked to Fan'r for orders.
"Have you gone near the Curse?" Fan'r asked.
"N-no. We didn't." Jacob and his brothers shook their heads.
"Good. Check with the rest of the Village." Fan'r stood up. "I'll do the same."
"I have a very bad feeling about this." Winn gulped. "Will he be alright?" Winn looked to Elder Jyu'so and Sir Gorrum for an answer.
"Were you not listening, young one?" Elder Jyu'so chuckled, standing. "Keng may be a child who doesn't understand how to express himself, but it doesn't stop him from doing what's right."
Keng's jog quickly came to a stop as he neared the area. There were a couple of people around as he quickly flipped through the book and landed on a folded page.
Clearing a Cursed area off
- Lord B'haru
When you are dealing with Curses that have the ability to remanifest themselves after their "bodies" have been destroyed, you only have a day at best before it re-manifests! Make sure to close the area off with Light magic! Create a border and keep the Curse from spreading and finding the next thing to possess. Light will naturally force the Curse away as it's Darkness-based in Magical Nature.
You'll have a couple days without re-strengthening the border. If you need more time, re-strengthen the border with Light magic and keep watch on it!
"Dammit." Keng shut the book and looked up. The shards of the splintered wood was gone. People were simply walking past it without much thought. Keng sighed and jogged over. "Hey! I need everyone to clear out of this area! It could still be Cursed!"
"What? Cursed?" A woman looked at him.
"I thought the Curse was already removed." A man spoke up.
"Weren't you the one who dealt with it with Fan'r's boy?" Man 2 pointed at him.
"Yea, what happened? Why're you telling us there's a Curse? Did Philip not get rid of it?"
"Why did you let Philip get rid of it? Aren't you a Savior? Isn't this your job?!?" The woman shouted.
"Look, I…" Keng took a step back. The small crowd began to group around Keng as they berated him with comments about how 'he's not doing his job properly,' 'Philip's sacrifice is in vain,' 'get your shit together and fix it,' etc. "I… I…" Keng shrank. He could feel himself shrinking.
"If we all die, are you going to be responsible for our deaths! We fight to protect what's ours every day! What are you doing?!? You can't even do your damn job right!" Man 2 pushed Keng onto the ground. They all looked at him like Winn and the others did.
'They all look at me like—'
"Enough!" Lily shouted. Loud footsteps rushed past Keng and came to a stop in front of Keng. "That's enough you guys! We all didn't know what was happening! If you're going to blame him for that then blame me! I'm a Savior too!" The crowd took a step back in surprise. Lily's truthful declaration made them recoil. "We both didn't know that the Curse would do something like this! We haven't had time to learn all of the scripts, tomes, and scrolls at the Tomb! Keng's on a time crunch and I didn't know I would have to learn these things!
"We're still trying to become great Saviors that will protect the Realm from the Curses! So don't throw all of your expectations onto him! Throw them onto me if you're going to throw it at him!" Lily shouted.
"Lily, he's an outsider! A nobody! Just some lucky kid who's Vessel can run free from him! He doesn't have anything toge—" The woman began when Lily took a step forward.
"Enough of the hurt!" Lily shouted. Her aura burned a bright pink. The Sunlight seemed to mix with her aura, expanding it around her.
"What in the gods is happening?" A man whispered.
"Do as my Leader says! Everyone get away from this place until further notice! We'll come by and check you later for Curse symptoms!" Lily ordered.
"Curse symptoms? What's wrong?" Man 2 asked. His eyes went to Keng who was staring at Lily in excitement. The young boy they had berated went from scared to excited in a mere matter of seconds. "What's wrong with us, Lily? Why didn't your Leader tell us that?" Lily began to turn to look at Keng when he lifted himself up and patted her shoulder.
"Thanks." He smiled. He made eye contact with each person as he stood besides Lily. "As my subordinate and I have said, the Curse physically has been destroyed but it could still manifest. These types of Curses usually show back up in a day, so we need everyone who's been in this area to be checked out."
"It's really that bad?" The woman asked. Keng nodded.
"Once we close this area off with Light magic, we'll be able to contain it for a couple of days. In that time, I must do a ritual to get my Light back." Keng explained. Lily looked up Keng.
"You lost your Light? So that is true? Who's going to block the Curse off if you don't have your Light?" Man 1 asked.
"Lily will do it." Keng motioned at Lily. "She's Blessed by Rox'su, so I don't see why she can't section the area off. We'll make our rounds and make sure nobody's having Curse symptoms, too."
"What are some symptoms?" Man 2 asked.
"What my brother, Philip, is going through right now." Lily answered.
"Comatose sickness, basically. I have to check the books for more symptoms, but for now, anyone who's been in in this area, must get checked up." Keng circled the group with his finger. "Got it?"
