Lee Seng woke up with a startle. The nightmare he had the night before had replayed. Everyone was dead around him. Ritsuka's mauled face haunted him. It was dark. A large fire was going in the middle of camp and Groy was nowhere to be seen. Lee Seng lifted his mask off just a bit and cleaned his eyes of eye boogers.
'Is no one here?' Lee Seng wondered, putting the mask back on. 'I need to leave before things get complicated.
"What do you mean you found a goblin?" A low husky voice asked.
"Well, sir, i-it's like I explained… He just showed up outta nowhere." Groy explained. Lee Seng leaned forward, listening in on the conversation. "I thought I heard something running and found him in the building back there."
"He doesn't remember who he is?"
"No."
"He dresses like a human and even wears that Fox mask."
"Ye-yes."
"Groy, he doesn't even remember his own name or anything about himself. Why would you take in such a suspicious goblin?" The low husky voice asked with a sigh. There was shifting and then another voice popped into the conversation.
"Aw, Leader, don't be so hard on Groy. He did do what he thought was best." A third voice spoke up.
"If he doesn't know anything and he has human connections, he's dangerous. Those souls could do about anything if they wanted to. Look at the mess we're in because of them." Leader motioned. "I don't want to take any chances. You should tell him to find his way."
"W-well… He's resting. I don't want to-" Groy began to say when Leader snapped.
"Wake him up and throw him out before I do it myself. The Horde's coming back and I need all of the space I can get!"
"Y-yes, sir." Groy nodded. The sounds of someone stepping out of a nearby tent alerted Lee Seng to get back into position. He closed his eyes and waited a moment. When footsteps neared, he opened his eyes and readjusted his mask.
"Oh, he's up." The third voice spoke. A tall hobgoblin stood next to Groy. He had scrap attached to him, forming rough armor with a sword strapped to his side and a shield poking out of his back.
"You're up." Groy pointed. "I hope we didn't wake you. Did you rest well, Gray?"
"His name is Gray? Such a strange name." The hobgoblin pointed out.
"He chose it himself." Groy replied, looking at Lee Seng.
"I'm fine. Who's he?" Lee Seng pointed at the tall hobgoblin.
"Him?" Groy pointed, smiling with his toothy grin. "One of the scouts. This is Grin."
"How do ya do?" Grin waved.
"Is the horde back?" Lee Seng asked.
"They're on their way as we speak." Grin replied. Groy let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his head as he looked off to the side.
"You look like you have bad news." Lee Seng pointed out. Groy snapped out of it and looked at his new friend.
"That obvious?" Groy asked. Lee Seng nodded, slipping out of the chair and standing.
"What's wrong?" Lee Seng asked. Grin seemed to be studying Lee Seng. The Fox mask definitely threw them off more than the odd clothes he had on him.
"Well… Leader came back with Grin and they saw you… " Groy scratched his cheek. "Leader says you have to go. You're too suspicious."
"Ohh." Lee Seng slowly nodded.
"I-I tried to tell him your situation but he still didn't care!" Groy quickly tried to defend himself. "I did everything I could, but he chose to still do that. If I had it my way, I would let you stick around."
'This benefits me alot.' Lee Seng thought.
"It's fine." Lee Seng gave a smile and then realized the mask is still on. "I appreciate you giving me a place to rest. I'm grateful for that."
"I wish I could give you food or something…" Groy frowned. When Groy mentioned food, Lee Seng's stomach grumbled loudly.
"Seems like someone's hungry." Grin grinned. "Here." He pulled out something out of one of his pockets and gave it to Lee Seng.
"What's this?" Lee Seng asked.
"Jerky from one of those running birds." Grin nodded off to the left. "It's pretty good." Lee Seng pulled his mask off just a bit and took a bite. Groy and Grin were curious to see the goblin's face, but he quickly put the mask on just as fast as he took it off and smacked his lips a bit before nodding in approval.
"Mmm, tastes good! This came from a… Vyrk?" Lee Seng tilted his head and looked at Groy. Groy nodded.
"Correct. I thought you didn't remember anything." Grin replied.
"Oh, Groy taught me that." Lee Seng motioned.
"Teaching him the names of the things we gotta look out for, huh?" Grin smiled. "Too nice." The sounds of horns went off and Groy sighed.
"You gotta leave before the horde see's you." Groy motioned.
"Leader said to throw him out before the horde did arrive…" Grin reminded Groy.
"I know, I know… C'mon, Gray, before they come." Groy led Lee Seng with Grin, in tow, towards the back. Grin waved his hands in the air and a magical glow went off and the door opened. "Well… Out you go!" Lee Seng awkwardly nodded and left. Groy and Grin waved goodbye as the door closed and Lee Seng was left own his own. The sounds of the horde grew loud as Lee Seng pushed his way forward.
'Well, I wasted a whole day doing nothing.' Lee Seng thought as he fiddled with his mask. He walked for quite a bit until he could barely hear the goblins. 'There's no one around… I guess it's a good as of a time to shift now.' Lee Seng stepped into an alleyway and shapeshifted back into his human form.
"Hello." Lee Seng cleared his throat and spoke in English. "Hmm, I still can speak English. Can I speak Goblin still? Of course, I can't. Oh shit.. I just did." Lee Seng covered his mouth and spoke in Goblin, again. "This language sounds rough and uses a lot of G noises."
With that, Lee Seng continued on his way. Whatever Groy did to him, he still retained his ability to speak Goblin while not losing his English. He wondered how much information he could get from this indirect 'blessing.'
The streets were quiet. Their weren't any howling, fast ostrich/flamingos and definitely no goblins, hobgoblin and/or orcs around. It was odd to have nothing to look out for as he stuck in the shadows. Lee Seng eventually neared the supposed "spot" he was told to go to. It was honestly too quiet for him, so he kept his katana by his side. His nerves felt like he was walking on needles.
Lee Seng scaled one of the smaller buildings with relative ease. He landed on the top of the building and looked around. There was nothing in his sharp sight he couldn't see. No lights, movement way too far away from him and no signs of Hell horses. Just as he was about to call it quits, something caught his attention to his right.
'What's that?' Lee Seng questioned. He made his hands turn into binoculars and twisted. His vision seemed to sharpen at this ridiculous movement. Hell horses seemed to be forced along the path as thieves held their weapons. He looked around and noticed Vyrks and werewolves were even being ushered into a building.
'What're they doing?' Lee Seng wondered. 'Why do they have monsters in tow? Are they spirits who need to eat too?' A werewolf broke out of its chains, ignoring the large electric shock as it swung at the nearest thief. The thief went flying and the others began to point their weapons at the werewolf. Bullets flew out and the werewolf blocked it, only to let out a roar.
It bled profusely as it tore through the thieves. A magical blast of energy fired out at the werewolf, killing it in an instant. A man seemed to bark some orders and more thieves shuffled in and grabbed the dead Werewolf and pulled him off to the side.
"Bingo." Lee Seng whispered, pulling his binocular hands away form him. His eyesight went back to normal as he turned right and jumped off the building. He landed with a roll and turned the corner. "Let's free some horses, hm?"
"Get her in there!" A thief barked. Lisa grunted as she tried to shake off her bindings. A thief pushed her along without any regard to her condition.
"Just kill me!" Lisa barked. "I rather die than be locked up!"
"Unlucky for you then, princess." The thief smiled. "You shouldn't have gone ape shit and killed an entire building of people."
"Let me go!" Lisa managed to get the thief off of her and lash a kick out at him. She watched him fall as guns pointed at her. A gun fired and pierced her arm. She let out a yelp as she stumbled backwards.
"We've nuked one of your teammates and you won't tell us where the other one went?" Another thief spoke up. "You're only here as bait. If your teammate wants you to live, he would come for you."
"Hahaha!" Lisa reeled her head backwards. "What makes you think he'd come for me?"
