Chapter 777 Spoken Contract, Part 5

Name:Biohuman Author:
Jane followed Lee Seng while Eli floated along with her. She occasionally glanced at Eli, wondering if he would wake up. The black triangle had slowly melted into his skin, disappearing and Jane couldn't help but wonder about Lee Seng. She wondered if he was really Biohuman. He had said he was before he became a Fox Spirit, and she didn't know much of the huge city hours away.

Jane picked up pace and matched Lee Seng. Eli's unconscious body floated and stayed between Jane and Lee Seng. She kept her eyes to the front and strapped her axe. She didn't feel the need to use it. This wasn't one of those situations even if James felt a bit threatened by Lee Seng's behavior.

"Thank you for offering to carry Eli." Jane said. Lee Seng simply nodded and continued to quietly walk. She allowed some time to pass before checking behind her. Kiara and James weren't too far away. James was using his spear as a walking stick.

'He's hurting, again.' Jane thought. She glanced over at Lee Seng. Their pace had slowed a bit, but Lee Seng was still looking forward like he didn't know. Lee Seng turned to look at Jane and then looked down. Jane followed Lee Seng's gaze and noticed Eli was waking up.

"Eli!" Jane exclaimed, turning. Lee Seng moved a couple steps away and stopped. He watched as Kiara and James quickly moved over and stood next to the floating Eli.

"Ah… What happened?" Eli asked. He lifted his hand to rub his eyes. "Is it over?"

"Do you feel fine?" James asked. James did a check and Eli gave James a weird look. Eli began to sit up and noticed he was floating in mid-air.

"Wo-whoa! What the hell?!?" Eli shouted. Lee Seng watched Eli slowly land on the ground. The cosmic energy dissipated while Eli panicked.

"Breathe, Eli." Jane instructed. "You were being carried by Lee Seng's power." She pointed over at Lee Seng and Eli turned to look. Eli noticed Lee Seng wasn't showing his face anymore. He was hiding it. He couldn't tell what this guy was thinking. Lee Seng turned and noticed a strange ping signature hundreds of feet away. Lee Seng's eyes narrowed as he tried to pinpoint it.

'Seismic sensing goes further than I can detect energy.' Lee Seng thought. 'Something's moving fast.'

"Slowly." Kiara grabbed Eli's hand. With the help of Kiara and Jane, Eli stood up without an issue. He turned and looked at Lee Seng.

"Be nice." Jane elbowed Eli. Eli looked at Jane and then back to Lee Seng. They watched him as he seemed to stare off into a direction. "James was going to go with him alone. He was going to leave Kiara and I with you until you woke up. Lee Seng was the one who chose to carry you while you slept."

"Why would he do that? I attacked him." Eli whispered to Jane. Jane shrugged and pulled away from Eli. Jane walked over to Lee Seng and looked in the direction he was looking at.

"Everything alright?" Jane asked. Lee Seng slowly shook his head. "What's wrong?"

"Something moved, finally. It's that way." Lee Seng pointed. Jane followed Lee Seng's finger. He was pointing towards the thickest part of the forest.

"Are you absolutely sure?" Jane asked.  Lee Seng nodded and lowered his arm. Jane turned to look at the others. "He feels something in the thickest part of the forest. You think it's worth checking out?" Eli groaned. Kiara glanced around and then in the direction she had seen Lee Seng point.

"Why is it always in the claustrophobic areas?" Eli complained. James released his spear from the ground and shook his leg.

"What do you think, Kiara?" James asked. He shrunk the spear and set it on his belt.

"How far away do you think it is?" Kiara asked Lee Seng.

"Four, maybe five hundred feet away. It's moving around, though." Lee Seng answered. Kiara nodded and moved to stand with Jane and Lee Seng. A green aura washed over her as the form of a wolf grew. Kiara's pupils grew sharp as she focused.

"Go." Kiara ordered. She threw her arm forward and watched as the form of her trusty wolf companion leapt out from the ground and landed on the ground. It turned to look at her, giving her a silent nod before disappearing.

"A summon." Lee Sen whispered. He turned to look at Kiara. "I didn't think I'd get this lucky three times in a row."

"You've seen Summons before?" Jane asked. "Kiara is the only one in our whole city who can conjure a summon. I'm surprised you've seen three!"

"My brother knows how to summon. Although, I don't think it's as effective." Lee Seng replied. "I fought against someone who had summons. What is said about Summoners is true, though. They may have strong summons, but they are inherently weak with skills to protect themselves."

"I'm assuming you won." Kiara guessed. Lee Seng nodded. He turned and grew confused. He began to open his mouth to ask a question when Kiara spoke first. "Yes, my other ability is technically classified as an Observer. My first ability you might've seen me use involves using a bow."

"Glass/Observer."

"Exactly." Kiara nodded. Kiara listened to the silent ping of Aiyana and turned. She looked off into the distance for a while, silently nodding as if she was having a silent conversation. When she was done, she turned back and addressed the group. "What Lee Seng felt is true. Aiyana detected it but it's too fast. She thinks it knows about us."

'That's not good.' Lee Seng thought. James sighed and nodded. The group naturally formed a circle, leaving Lee Seng out of it.

"Jane and Eli will take front. I will stay by the Fox and Kiara will take the rear. Keep our eyes peeled for this thing. Jane and Eli will try to distract it long enough so I can secure it with my ability. Kiara will try to pummel it down." James explained the plan.

"What am I gonna do?" Lee Seng asked, poking his head between Kiara and Jane. "Don't you need me to kill it?"

"Never said you had to kill it." James looked at him. "We'll do what we normally do."

"And with any good luck, we won't need to use the Fox." Eli motioned. Lee Seng sighed and pulled away.

"Welp, this is boring." Lee Seng sighed. "I don't get to do nothing."

"You're just a kid who ran away from home." Eli commented. "The last thing we need on our minds is a dead kid."

"Whom you'll then slaughter the other 'kids' for." Lee Seng snapped back. Kiara and Jane stepped aside and allowed Lee Seng to stand with them. Lee Seng folded his arms and looked at James. "You wanted my help in killing this thing. Well, there's one thing I didn't tell you about the Vixen's Curse. To vanquish it, you need Savior's Light. I'm the one who has that Light."

"You're just making some bullshit up. We don't need a kid to needlessly die. You almost didn't even stand a chance when I attacked you earlier." Eli sarcastically commented. Lee Seng sighed and stepped forward. He reached out for Eli as James tried to grab him. Lee Seng stopped and looked at James' hand.

"I'm not some 'kid' who doesn't know what the hell he's gotten into. I killed my own Deimon and killed another one on the way here to find a Cup. Don't tell me what I'm capable of. You haven't even seen what I'm capable of." Lee Seng pulled his arm away and turned. He moved past the two women and headed straight for the direction the creature was in.

"That kid's an asshole." Eli grumbled. "He was trying to harm you. We should just get rid of him.

"Why do you two always make more enemies?" Jane asked. She shook her head as she turned and followed. Kiara shook her head as she looked at Eli then she turned her attention onto James.

"Anything happens to Eli; you lose all reason." Kiara pointed James' biggest problem out. "If you want him to be yours forever, do it, but don't bring your unresolved feelings and situation into the mission. You're our leader, Sergeant. Act like a leader and don't shove someone who's simply trying to do what they're told because we've forced them to."

"Kiara—" Eli called out. Kiara glared at Eli with her wolf eyes and then looked at James. He clearly knew he was in the wrong yet wasn't doing anything about it. Kiara pointed at Eli.

"Nobody cares about your relationship with another man. It's a new whole world. You two figure it out on your own time. We have a mission to do and if we fail, I will tell the Druidess, myself, who jeopardized the mission and didn't give Lee Seng a fair chance." Kiara turned and jogged to catch up to Jane and Lee Seng. James let out a hiss between his teeth.

"Don't listen to them. It's not because of our… situation that you're like this… T-that's the Deimon who killed the previous leader!" Eli told James. "If he never showed up that day, the leader would still be alive! We would've had more power than anyone could imagine!"

"And yet we still live in the past…" James sighed. He shook his head and forced himself to follow the others. Eli turned and gave James an odd look before following.

"It's our opportunity to right the wrongs of the past! We should ease the Leader's soul so she can re—"

"This isn't about the Leader one bit!" James shouted at Eli. Eli backed, his face growing soft at James' voice. James puffed his cheeks as he sucked in a breath. "This isn't about any of that at all...! You…" James licked his lips and turned to look at the others. They were already disappearing deeper into the forest. James let out a sigh and shook his head. "Let's go."
