A light dagger flew into the ground with Lee Seng reappearing next to it. The ice smoke with snow dust. Virgil took no time in reacting to the opportunity Cesar gave him. He raised his gun at Keng and shot.
"Keng!" Lee Seng shouted. He ran straight for Virgil. Lee Seng summoned two light daggers and let crawl up his arms as he moved faster.
'Faster than light, burning just as bright, don't let the light consume you.' Akali spoke. He had remembered asking Akali about her powers. She was a light-user and with it came many possibilities. 'The light is good, but handling too much of it will cause my Negative to kick in. It's why I'm always in dark places. It feels better that way. Light cannot exist without darkness. That's what my power is about.'
Lee Seng swung the dagger straight at Virgil's left hand, watching it miss as Virgil pulled back. He moved his other gun for Lee Seng. Lee Seng blurred, reappearing and replacing Virgil's gun with a light dagger. Virgil screamed in pain as he shot wildly with his other gun. Lee Seng blurred in and out, almost toying with him.
'Something's different about the Creator's son now.' Virgil thought as he attempted to pull away. Lee Seng flashed behind him, embedding a hot light dagger into his shoulder. Virgil screamed. 'Its like the person I was fighting earlier is gone. What happened to him?'
Lee Seng had spent many years studying different Numbers' abilities and skills, so it wasn't a shock he would actually use it against the Deimons. Lee Seng sucked in a breath, feeling the light grow further along his arms to his shoulders. Virgil whipped backwards, swinging his gun at Lee Seng, but finding no one there.
'Where is he?' Virgil's eyes darted around wildly. Lee Seng appeared on Virgil's right, mid-air. Virgil turned and pulled the trigger, watching Lee Seng vanish, again. Virgil cursed as he glanced at the light dagger in his hand. Virgil slipped his gun into the holster and grabbed the light dagger. He screamed in pain as he ripped out the hot dagger.
"Hmph." Cesar glanced over to Virgil. "It seems he's having a hard time. What if I ruin it and kill your little human?" He looked over at Keng, who was struggling to blast his way out. The icicles had impaled Keng in his arms, hands, chest and legs. Cesar glanced at Keng, noticing the Fox had definitely been not so lucky. "At this rate, I think you'll actually die before you get out."
Cesar smirked at Keng. Keng weakly kept his eyes on Cesar. The Deimon was stuck in his own defense mechanism as well. As long as Keng could somehow keep Cesar in with him, he would be helpful to Lee Seng.
"Well, it's time for me to go. Enjoy trying to get out." Cesar phased out, leaving Keng behind.
"No…" Keng spurted out blood. His vision began to blur, making it harder for Keng to do much. "Gotta.. Help." He closed his eyes and thought about the Soul Home. His mind drifted, not wanting to cooperate. He was losing too much blood. A loud crash shook him out of his tiring daze. He turned to watch as ice and light collided. Beams from the other Deimon's gun flew out as the three fought.
Keng squeezed his eyes back shut and forced himself to disappear. He dropped into the Soul Home. Blood splattered across the white carpet of the living room. He huffed and held onto his solar plexus. He had been punctured in the solar plexus, ribs and all along his arms and legs.
Keng closed his eyes and steadied his breathing. Flames ignited around him as his self-healing started.
"Immortality is only immortality if I don't die." Keng sighed. The system might've told them they were immortal, but their immortality wasn't like the gods. It was a pseudo-immortality. "As long as you don't die by battle, you'll live." He listened to his body patch itself up.
The self-healing capabilities that stemmed from Lee Seng's mutation ability had been strengthened, boosting their healing capabilities even more. Keng summoned healing runes and pushed small bits of healing into him.
"It sucks we don't have access to healing anymore." Keng sighed. He could feel the bleeding stop and the holes start to patch themselves. It was shoddy healing, at best, but at least it stopped his deathly situation. He could feel his ribs and solar plexus heal. It hurt like a bitch, but it wouldn't stop Keng from going to Lee Seng's side.
Keng glanced over to the bookshelf on the left side of the room. Sitting on that bookshelf was Lee Seng's golden orb. It pulsed and called to him. He could feel the energy surging. Lee Seng was in the moment of battle and Keng was trying to patch himself.
"Please don't die." Keng pushed himself onto his feet. Blood dripped onto the white carpet. He pushed a thought to clean it into the back of his mind. "I'll do it later… for now, I'll go help."
Lee Seng deflected the ice attack, only to see Cesar follow-up with actual melee attacks. Cesar weaved his ranged attacks into his melee combos, making it harder for Lee Seng to do anything else but block. Virgil, on the other hand, was in a world of hurt. Lee Seng's light dagger had caused one of his hands to almost be useless. He had made the wrong choice in pulling it out with his one good hand. Both hands were almost useless, but he forced himself to hold the gun in his right hand and shoot at Cesar and Lee Seng.
It didn't matter to Virgil if he hit Cesar. They weren't allies after all. Their leaders had only stated for them to 'bring the Creator's son back.' They didn't tell them to keep the other Deimon alive. Virgil blasted Cesar, watching the phantom Deimon fly away.
'Now he's mine!' Virgil thought as he pointed his gun at Lee Seng. A smile crept up onto Lee Seng's face as two light swords appeared in his hands. He vanished from his spot in an instant, immediately drawing fear into the gunner. 'Where is he? Where is he?' Virgil panicked, whipping his head behind him.
"Boo." Lee Seng's voice came from behind Virgil.
'He didn't go behind me this time?' Virgil thought. His eyes went wide as a hot blade of light flew straight through his neck. Virgil's body turned as his head was decapitated. He raised the gun up to Lee Seng, who was caught by surprise, and fired.
"Argh!" Keng's hand flew out as he materialized with Lee Seng around him. The cosmic shield appeared in front of Lee Seng and Keng, blocking the attack while Keng pulled Lee Seng up into the air.
"I never thought you'd come." Lee Seng commented. Keng didn't smile. Lee Seng caught the large amount of blood on Keng. His face grew serious as Keng pulled them high enough into the air, away from the Deimons. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
"Nothing I can't handle." Keng strained. Keng almost dropped Lee Seng, opening a gravity bubble. Lee Seng yelped, holding onto Keng, who's face scrunched up in pain.
"You're totally not okay!" Lee Seng shouted.
"I'm fine… Give it some time…" Keng moved his free hand to his solar plexus area and continued to heal. "I managed to close most of the wounds. A rib or two is slowly piecing itself back together while my solar plexus is healing…" Lee Seng let go of Keng and looked down.
"The gunner was able to move even after I cut his head off." Lee Seng sighed. "I hope he's dead."
"The ice one… still givin' trouble?"
"Yeah, I can't attack him. He started to weave those ranged attacks in with his melee attacks."
"I'll support you."
"I don't think Akali's light will be enough…"
"You're switching Gates? Won't that be taxing?"
[Gate IX has closed.]
Lee Seng let out a sigh. It was draining to keep it up. He guessed he had one more Gate left before the Negative fully took effect. Even now, he could feel the Negatives pushing on him. The heaviness from his own Negative with the odd foggy head from Zoe's and the heat radiating off him from Akali's.
"I'll be fine." Lee Seng responded. "I'll only use the Gate if I have to. Let it be my trump card against the ice Deimon."
"You can stay up there all you like, but I'll cut you down!" Cesar shouted.
"Drop me." Lee Seng told Keng.
"You're going now?" Keng asked. Lee Seng nodded. Keng sighed and nodded. He released the bubble, letting Lee Seng and himself fall. Lee Seng made himself fall faster while Keng kept distance.
"You… think you can kill me…?" Virgil huffed. His body had managed to grab his head and put it back on. "I will never… di—" A beam of cosmic light flew out of Lee Seng's hand, piercing Virgil's heart in an instant. Every fiber and bone in Virgil's body was crushed in an instant.
[Greater Deimon Virgil has been slain! Mutant Manipulator's special passive ability has activated! A portion of the Deimon's energy will refill yours.]
[Soul Home's unique effect has activated!]
Virgil's guns swirled with silver and golden energy, disappearing from their master's side. Virgil turned to dust, scattering along the destroyed city.
[Greater Deimon Virgil's 'Heaven and Hell' has been added to the Soul Home. To summon these, you must bind them to yourself for the allotted time.]
"Well," Lee Seng landed on the ground in front of Cesar. "Let's see how long you last against me."
