Chapter 980 To the Death (1)
"This place isn't holding itself together now that Ritsuka's not here!" Lee Seng looked around. He could still see an opening on top. He rushed over and jumped up as the shadows folded in on themselves. It grasped at Lee Seng's leg as he was three-quarters of the way onto the surface. He pulled his leg, fighting the shadows. The shadows released him, spitting him out with a loud thump.
A lump in Lee Seng's throat grew. He scrambled onto his knees and looked at the spot where the shadow was. The last minute replayed in his head. He was trying to get Son and then...
"Keng." Lee Seng whispered. He could feel his chest buzzing. "That... that was him, right?" He looked to his right. The entire town was blanketed in darkness. He slowly looked up to the sky. A gold, silver, and blue star was in the sky. The stars looked at him as if the gods of Daros who had backed Lee Seng and his friends were waiting for him to make a move.
"What do I do now?" Lee Seng asked. He got up onto his feet and flicked the System's screen on. A set of pop-ups appeared.
[The Sky's Blessing has been given to you.]
"Sky's Blessing? What's that?" Lee Seng clicked on the pop-up. It faded from view and appeared as a countdown on the bottom-left of his screen. "Is it some kinda buff?" He clicked the next one. Another pop-up showed up.
[/Keng's Egg/ has overcharged, resulting in stabilization of flesh and energy.]
[Soul Home has been restored as one of the Twins' unique abilities.]
"Soul Home is back... I wonder..." Lee Seng didn't hesitate to disappear into the Soul world. He could feel the weight of his actual body appear in the living room. The place was the same, but a bloody stain was left.
[Cultivation II has begun!]
[Souls needed to evolve: 1000]
Lee Seng dismissed the two last pop-ups and noticed the room vibrating. He made his way over to the couch and watched the space around him alter. Furniture lifted and disappeared. The carpet in the living room was ripped out and the entire space began to dissolve. The remnants of the cape cod house was gone and replaced with short pillars with orbs on it.
The space was left gold and silver. No decorations. No walls. Lee Seng moved over to the silver orb and watched it. Keng was looking around an empty space. Ritsuka, Calis and Evan were nowhere to be found. He was calling out for Lee Seng. Lee Seng gulped and reached out to the orb.
"Lee! Calis! Evan! Ritsuka! Where are you?" Keng shouted. He whipped his head around taking in the strange place. It was some sort of laboratory reminiscent of the one underneath the Creator's lab. Keng stood up and looked towards the open door. "What is this place...?"
Just as Keng was about to move towards the door, a familiar feeling overcame him. Lee Seng's golden arm flew out of his chest and pulled himself out of Keng's body.
[The Twins connection has been re-established.]
[Syncing abilities and skills.]
Silver flames ignited Keng. HE could feel Lord Rox'su and Lord Vox'su's power surging through him. Lee Seng spilled onto the floor, rolling and standing as the golden energy faded.
[Lady Hydran's Weapon has been restored with your rebirth.]
Hydrosphere appeared in Keng's hands, turning more silver with water-like blades. He dismissed them and turned his attention to Lee Seng. Lee Seng spun around and was tackled by Keng. Keng giggled while Lee Seng couldn't help but let out a sob.
"I'm back!" Keng happily announced. The two teetered back and forth as they embraced each other. Keng pulled away and noticed Lee Seng's tears. "It must've been lonely without me, hm?" Lee Seng nodded, wiping his tears away.
"I..." Lee Seng hiccuped. "Didn't think I would miss you this much."
"Awh, you missed me!" Keng squeezed Lee Seng and pulled away. "It seems like you've been working hard. What'd I miss? I was, uh, asleep..."
"N-not much." Lee Seng laughed. He didn't understand his own emotions. He didn't even try to rationalize them. He was happy, sad, and relieved Keng was back. "We've been hunting down Failed Ones. I guess Son took us to their base."? Keng's ears twitched. Someone was coming to the door. He summoned one Hydrosphere dagger and pointed it at the door.
Calis stepped into view, turning to look into the room. For a moment, everything stopped when he saw Keng. The silver-haired Fox Spirit was in silver armor and wielding a weapon pointed at him.
"What's wrong?" Evan asked, stepping into view. His mouth dropped when he realized there were two Lee Seng's. "I-is that the enemy...?"
"No." Calis answered. He rushed over to Keng and lifted him up. The two laughed as Evan stood at the doorway. He looked over at Lee Seng and then back to Calis and... Keng?
"Keng?" Evan whispered.
"You're alive!" Calis beamed with excitement. It was something Lee Seng had seen for a split moment. Calis spun a couple more times before setting Keng down. He lifted his hand to Keng's face and smiled at him. Calis's eyes grew with tears.
"I'm alive." Keng smiled at Calis. He watched tears fall onto Calis's face and wiped them. "You're all better?" Calis nodded, looking down. "Awh, c'mon, don't get all sad now."
"Where's Ritsuka?" Lee Seng turned to Evan.
"Dunno. I was in the same room with Calis when we fell in." Evan pointed.
"He came in after you... but you appeared in the same room as Calis... What if..." Lee Seng's eyes drifted to the door. He moved towards the door. Evan stepped out of the way and watched Lee Seng look left and right. A flare of energy grew from the right followed by a quiet explosion barely caught by his ears.
Calis and Keng stopped what they were doing and turned towards the energy. They had both felt it.
"Ritsuka." Lee Seng whispered before running off. Evan turned and followed with Calis and Keng in tow. "Ritsuka!"
"W-what's wrong?" Evan asked, worried. Doors busted open all around them, revealing many empty rooms. The lit hallway turned red as a siren went off.
"It seems we have unwanted guests with us today." Queen's voice came over the overcom. "Mother's orders, find her son and bring the head of Lee Seng Chang, too." Strange monsters and Deimons flew out of the rooms ahead, turning to look left and right. Lee Seng summoned his weapon and blitzed forward in a line of fire.
The monsters exploded in fire and butterflies, immediately trapping everything in suspended bubbles. Lee Seng turned right and watched as the space around them began to grow heavy.
'He's here.' Lee Seng thought.
"Argh!" Ritsuka busted straight through a door and tumbled down the hallway. He tried to flip himself, but gravity had other plans for him. He lifted up in to the air upside down. He watched as Son stepped out of the room. A loud hiss of smoke flew out of Son's mouth. He was pale with black and red pumping through his veins.
"Die." Son growled. He lifted his hand and began to make a crushing motion, when another energy made itself known. Lee Seng's golden sword flew straight down Son's arm, severing it in an instant. Blood and fire spewed as Lee Seng turned the blade straight for Son's body.
Gravity exploded off Son's severed hand, separating Lee Seng from Ritsuka. The golden sword flew out of Lee Seng's hand, embedding itself into the wall while Lee Seng and Son tumbled on top of each other.
"Get off!" Son pinned Lee Seng to the ground and tried to stand. Lee Seng grabbed Son, pulling him down and flipping himself on top of Son. Gravity pushed down onto Lee Seng, allowing Son to pin Lee Seng down and push himself away from Lee Seng. "I need to get to Mother!" Son turned and went for the door. Ritsuka rushed at Son, jumping into the air and swinging Obsidian Glass at Son.
Son flicked his finger and watched Ritsuka's body not move. 'What's happening?' Son questioned.
"Voidless Terror!" Ritsuka disappeared right in front of Son, revealing the complete black halls. Swords appeared from all angles, going straight for Son. Son threw his hand up, blocking most of the attacks as darkness crept past him. A large blade flew up, plunging into Son's back.
Son blinked and reappeared further into the room. Lee Seng gasped as the pressure vanished. He whipped his hand straight for Son, releasing a golden wave of fire. Darkness devoured the whole room as twenty blades flew at Son. Son threw both hands up and pushed, expelling the flames and sending the blades backwards.
"Gravitum: Cosmic Ray!" Son pointed down the hallway and released a concentrated blast of cosmic energy at Ritsuka.
"Ritsuka!" Lee Seng shouted, turning. Son appeared before Lee Seng, grabbing Lee Seng's hand and whipping him in the opposite direction. Son's form began to bubble as curses flew out of his mouth.
"Fuck! Shit! Dammit! You're all annoying!"
