Chapter 976 Chapter 976 Mystery
Jack crouched low and got to the other side of the car and spotted about the same number of men in fancy guises. They looked about the same thing that most men wore during the birthday party earlier.
"Double shit! That bitch is going to set me up to be robbed blind in broad daylight!" Jack muttered hard under his breath.
With no way out, he decided to step down from that carriage that made an impromptu prison house for him today.
"What's wrong, folks? You seem to be after the wrong man. I'm an honest citizen of this good city!" Jack acted indignant about this ploy. He looked around and found no one else on the road.
This was supposed to be a busy place but not even a stray cat or dog could be found on the scene. It told him well enough that someone high up in this city was pulling up the strings for this incident to happen.
"..." The men answered not a squeak. It was until a significant pause occurred when someone finally arrived to break this deafening silence.
"Corporal Jack Dominic Storm. An ex member of the infamous mercenary group Grim Crows. I believe we have the right man indeed." Another masked man entered the fray.
This time it was thinner than the rest of the goons. Jack judged that this man was probably the leader of this bunch.
"Oh? Then you know of my origins. I bet your records do not show that I and Captain Frederick Stone are best buddies. In fact, he is the godfather of my son!" Jack chose to improvise.
"HISS! The Bloody Butcher of Grim Crows!" Someone could not hold his nerves and so he spouted these words of alarm. Everybody knew of this person's merciless deeds in this kingdom of Cilicia.
Captain Stone was definitely not a man to cross. A few of the masks people visibly trembled at this idea. Some of them even took a few steps back from the stalled carriage in their midst.
"Shut your mouth off! The bloody butcher is not here! Don't bring his cursed name into this discussion." The leader said boldly.
They were only successful in doing so for a couple of breaths and not more before the eventual fall rippled in the scene.
"THUD!"
"THUD!"
"THUD!" The lifeless chunks of meat dropped and then there was nothing. The hopes, dreams, and aspirations of more than 2 dozen souls ceased to exist in just a matter of seconds.
It was fate, destiny, or perhaps maybe the twisted game of the idols above but Jack cared none for any of that at this time.
"..." The man with the ordinary face stood up in blood and gore then walked with a limp towards the innocent carriage nearby.
Droplets of red trickled from his form in usual consequence of that unnatural blood rain from earlier.
"Take me home, Teddie." Jack said in a mere whisper. There was a significant pause before Teddie registered the command.
It was obvious that he was quite perplexed about how these horrible deaths came to be. In the end, he did as he was told.
"As you wish, Master Jack." The old coach man complied. The 2 horses moved per instruction of its old master and they all left that terrible picture of death behind them.

"Jack! What happened to you?! You're bleeding!" Alana screamed in horror and immediately tended to the dire form of her husband.
Tears fell from her eyes which had made her look even more beautiful than usual. Jack could not help but smile at the tender loving care that he received from this lovely woman.
He thanked the heavens above that he was able to get Alana to accept his confession of love in the past. The heavens knew that he was perhaps the least likely man to enjoy such a blessing. And yet he did.
"It's not my blood, Alana. I'm okay." Jack gently assured his wife. He then looked around to search for one familiar figure. Alas, he only got to see more of the worried faces of this home's servants and helps.
