Chapter 217 - Operation: Run and Escape (2)

"I can't… I can't anymore! I want to get out! I want to see my sister! Let me out!"

That was Amanda, rampaging, and screaming, grabbing everyone's attention. After one girl shouting and screaming that their stomach hurts and they want to go to the bathroom next was a girl going on a rampage as they badly want to leave. Certainly, some of them find it weird and suspicious especially that those two girls were rather close and Amanda wasn't that type to go on a rampage but it can't be helped as she was one of the kids who stayed here for so long.

"I want to escape badly! My parents, I want to see them! I want to go out, I don't want to be sold! I don't want to, someone… please. I can't anymore!" And she went on and on, covering her ears as she lowered her head, looking at the ground, then tears escaped from her eyes, dripping down her chin and bursting on the ground into smaller bits.

Harrison, as usual, was just watching her do her role, he doesn't know if she was still acting or this was her real feelings. But she has done well as the other kids, way younger than them were also affected and they started to cry. Amanda who was always calm and who keep her composure was now breaking down and that also affected them. However, all of this was just part of the plan. To lure the guard and let him call that one guy who handled the situation before.

Harrison crept up near the door where the bell was and continuously rang it until the door opened it revealed the guard. Amanda noticed this but she continued doing her role.

"Hey, you shut up! Seriously, why do you guys always do some trouble?! Do you know how troublesome it is?!"

"Guard, help me! I want to get out! Save me! I can't do it anymore. I have been here for so long! I don't want to be sold!"

"Mommy… I want to see my mommy…"

"How did it come to this? I just want to get out."

Then whispers and murmurs coming from the children around them were heard. Nice, the plan is going just like how I wanted it to be, Harrison thought to himself and noticed the guard letting out a sigh before he turned around and left, closing the door. It seems like he is going to call that guy as he can't calm the kids down by himself, knowing how many they are.

Amanda looked at him and Harrison gave her a thumbs-up as a way of saying 'good job'. Amanda just nodded and continued doing her role, crying and not shouting anymore. Harrison prepared himself, getting ready into a stance.

Moments later, the door opened once again and a man entered, the same one before. Harrison narrowed his eyes down at him and put all of his strength to his leg.

"Seriously, you guys—"

The man wasn't able to finish what he was about to say when Harrison kicked him hard in the face, the side of his face, sending him flying to the other side of the room, and thankfully there wasn't a person there because they would also be affected. The man's back, as well as his head, hit the wall before he slid and slumped on the ground. Unconscious.

I didn't kill him, did I? That was only a child's kick but a little bit stronger, he thought to himself.

Amanda was shocked and the other kids were startled by what Harrison did, they immediately became silent and the kids stopped crying. They all looked at him with their eyes wide but Harrison didn't meet any of their gazes as he was still waiting for the guard.

Then the guard entered, completely oblivious about what just happened. So when he saw that the kids here are all silent and stopped crying, he was quite smug not until he saw the unconscious body of the man that he called in the corner of the room. Before he could say anything, Harrison punched him but he wasn't sent flying to the other side of the room and he was still conscious, though on the ground and coughing.

That would have done more damage but I'm in a child's body and my strength would be reduced.

Just because I'm a wizard, it doesn't mean that I'm only good when it comes to magic and spells.

He slowly walked towards the guard who was still coughing and was about to kick him so that he would faint but somebody already did that for him, hitting the back of his neck making him fall forward, face flat on the floor.

"Did I kill him?"

It was a boy, he looks like he is around Alexandra's age. He was the one who hit the back of the man's neck. Harrison just stared at the unknown boy and the guard. "Check his pulse then, I doubt that he would be dead just by that. They would probably be unconscious for an hour so if they woke up, just make them faint again."

"Amanda, you have done well. Now, I'll take care of everything from this point now on. I want you to stay here and wait, guard this room with the help of that unknown boy," He pointed to the boy who helped him earlier who hummed and looked at him with his eyes wide with wonder.

"Wait, you're going outside?"

"Yeah."

He said before he turned around and walked towards the door but stopped in front of it before slightly turning his head back to look at them.

"Worry not, you'll be able to escape this place soon but it would not be because of me. Remember the girl earlier? The pretty girl? The one who was complaining about her stomach, everything was her plan so better thank her. I'm just the sidekick."

--

Alexandra was still standing behind that wall, peeking his head to look at the guards standing on each side of the door. How do I distract them? I just can't let them chase me because I'm not a fast runner in the first place and how would I be able to enter the office?

Harrison told me that there would be no one inside the office around this hour but there would be guards outside. I am not a ninja or a spy, I don't have the ability to make myself invisible or pass through walls. If there are any spells that make me do that, I can't use it thanks to this collar on my neck.

Alexandra pondered and thought deeply about what she should do, if she gets caught, she would be doomed. Their plan would be failed and their efforts would be in vain, I don't want that. I absolutely don't want that. After going through all this, she thought to herself and her eyebrows furrowed. Her breathing was slow and each breath felt heavy as it slipped past her lips, there are still guards patrolling around the place.

What should I do?

Then as she was thinking hard, somebody suddenly covered her mouth and wrapped their arm around her waist and pulled her back. Because of her mouth being covered, she couldn't scream. Don't tell me, it's one of the guards?! She cursed to herself and tried to fight back. However, the person was strong and she felt powerless against them but she continued to resist. They were on the ground and her body was quite close to the person behind her as their arm was wrapped around her waist, pulling her near.

"Stop, it's me."

The person whispered in her ear, their breath tickling her and she realized who that was. She stopped resisting and she felt the arm around her waist loosen and the hand covering her mouth slowly removing itself. She turned around to face the person.

"Are you crazy?!"

She said though it was a whisper it seems like she was shouting at him. It was Harrison, her heart was beating rapidly, due to the shock that he gave her and what he did earlier. She grabbed him by the collar and shook him multiple times.

"No, I am not crazy and stop shaking me, you're making me dizzy," He said and what he said rhymes. I don't know if he intended to do that or something. Alexandra slowly let go and glared at him. "I could have screamed," She said as Harrison was fixing his collar.

"I know, that's why I covered your mouth."

"Can't you just approach me properly?"

"I know you get startled easily that's why I did some precautionary measures."

"God."

Alexandra let out a sigh before she spoke once again. "How come you're here? I thought you would just stay there in that room, what about the guards patrolling in the area?" She said, her heart started to calm down and she regained her composure.

"Well, I already did what I need to do and I hate waiting. I knocked the guards out and I thought that you might be having a hard time in this especially the office one and I was right."

"There are two guards, how do you expect me to handle that?"

"That's why I'm here."

Alexandra stared at him, blinking multiple times.

"I'm going to distract them and lure them out, I'll let them chase me so that you'll be able to enter that office and get the keys."

"Huh? But what if they caught you?"

"Don't worry, I won't get caught. Thanks to Arthur always chasing me down every time I escape, this is nothing at all so just do your job, okay?"

Alexandra hesitated but she nodded her head. What else could she do now?

Harrison ruffled Alexandra's hair before he stood up, he didn't let her say anything and just went ahead. Standing on that one spot where he can be seen by the two guards before he inhaled and spoke in a loud voice.

"Hey, let's play a game of tag, shall we?"

He successfully grabbed the two guards' attention.

"That's one of the kids!"

"Let's chase him!"

"But what about the office?"

"You know, we would be much deader if we let one kid escape and it's not like nobody would come in!"

And Harrison chuckled before he started running fast.

"Damn, he's getting away!"

"Go after him!"

And the guards left their post just to chase after Harrison. They passed by Alexandra who was just watching the scene the whole time and when they weren't in her point of view, she immediately left her spot and made her way to the door of the office, opening it slowly and creeping in as she closed the door behind her. She let go of the breath that she has been holding since earlier, the tension on her shoulders disappearing and she looked around as she walked towards the desk.

There were bookshelves, couches, cabinets, and such inside the room. There were glass cabinets that showed what was inside. Weapons like swords, daggers, spears, and such. Alexandra gulped hard and averted her gaze, the keys are inside one of the drawers inside the desk and she hurried.

She went around the desk and started opening the drawers, looking for the keys. Thankfully these weren't locked or else she would be having a hard time. She opened the drawer in the middle and heard some jiggling noise, her heart started to beat fast as she saw it. There was a ring with multiple keys attached to it. Mainly small ones and Alexandra felt dizzy just looking at it and trying to guess which one of these are hers.

Harrison told her that each collar has its own corresponding keys, it has a number. The number that is on your collar is the number that would be engraved on your key. In that case, mine is 55091, Harrison told hers. She started to go through the keys looking for that number and when she did, her face brightened and she immediately inserted the key in the hole at the back of her collar, fumbling with her hands shaking due to excitement welling up inside her.

She twisted the key and she heard a click, the collar became loose on her neck and at the same time, she heard a voice.

"Oh, it seems like a rat made its way to my office."
