Chapter 58 Completing the Transaction and Prelude to the Side Quests

"Okay, this is the form that you'd need to sign," Lev said, handing the document to Michael. "And how are you planning to pay again? With cash? I noticed you don't seem to have a bag or anything that looks like you're carrying that amount of money. Or are you planning to pay with a card?"

"Would it be possible to pay through a bank transfer?" Michael inquired, pulling out his phone.

"It depends on your bank's policies. Ten million pesos is quite a substantial amount; most banks have a daily limit for transfers that might be below this," Lev explained, observing Michael's calm demeanor.

"Give me a moment," Michael said, reaching for his phone and then contacting the bank's hotline.

Seconds later, it was received by one of their agents.

"Hello, I would like to speak to someone about temporarily lifting my daily transfer limit. I need to make a significant purchase today," Michael spoke into the phone, his tone firm yet polite.

"One moment, sir. I'll connect you to our account services department," the agent responded before a brief hold.

"Account Services, how can I assist you?" a new voice came through, more authoritative this time."

"Hi, my name is Michael Reyes. I need to increase my daily transfer limit to ten million pesos for a transaction I intend to complete today. Could you facilitate this change for me?" Michael requested, getting straight to the point.

"Mr. Reyes, I understand your request, but increasing the transfer limit to that amount exceeds our standard policy for immediate adjustments. We typically require a formal request in writing and a 24-hour review period for such significant changes," the bank representative explained, using the standard procedural language.

Michael decided to leverage his position. "I understand your policies, but I assure you, the funds are available in my account. If this transaction cannot be facilitated today, I will have no choice but to transfer my entire balance to another institution that can accommodate my needs."

Lev smiled, "I'm sure you're going to enjoy it. The TRX is a remarkable vehicle. And don't forget, you have a full year of free maintenance and comprehensive insurance, plus the other perks we discussed."

Just then, Lev's phone buzzed. He checked the message and then looked up at Michael with a broad grin. "The finance department has confirmed the receipt of your payment. Congratulations, Michael, the RAM 1500 TRX is now yours. But unfortunately, you can't drive it out given that you don't have a driver's license. You can but if you get caught, it will be impounded. So how about this? We are going to deliver the vehicle or you can pick it up once you have the driver's license." "Can you keep the vehicle here in the dealership while I get my driver's license?"

"Getting a driver's license is going to take months, and since the car is officially yours, you'll have to pay for a storage fee."

Michael raised an eyebrow, sensing an opportunity to negotiate a little extra from the deal. "Storage fee, huh? I was hoping that after purchasing a vehicle like the TRX, the dealership might offer a bit of... hospitality. How about waiving that storage fee for a month while I sort out my license?" he half-joked, half-serious.

Lev paused, considering Michael's request. It wasn't a common situation, but Michael wasn't a common customer either. "Let me speak with my manager about it. Given the circumstances and your significant purchase, perhaps we can make an exception."

After a brief conversation with the dealership manager, Lev returned with a smile. "Alright, Michael. As a gesture of our appreciation for your business and to celebrate your new purchase, we'll waive the storage fee for one month. We understand the unique situation and are happy to accommodate."

"Thank you, Lev. I really appreciate the flexibility," Michael responded, relieved. "And it gives me even more reason to recommend your dealership to others."

Lev chuckled, "We're just glad to have you as a customer, Michael. And remember, if you have any questions or need any assistance with your TRX, don't hesitate to reach out."

"I will..."

As Michael was about to leave the dealership, Lev offered. "Sir...how about I book you a grab? I'll pay." Michael chuckled. "Okay." Moments later, Michael's Grab car arrived and together they bid farewell. With that, Lev returned to the communal room where all of his salespeople were stunned and shocked. "Yeah...he bought the car...so our agreement, you guys better uphold it," Lev declared.

As Michael was heading home, he thought of something. Since the patenting and the registration are going to take a while, he figured he has to do something productive. Well, one is increasing the levels of his core sciences and possibly getting a driver's license. Thinking of a driver's license, the mission that wants him to buy a car has never been marked complete. Does it mean that he has to drive it by himself so the mission will end? "Okay...let's get a driver's license."
