Finishing his final exam, Michael felt confident that his third year, a second semester as a mechanical engineering student would be an easy pass. All his course grades were well above passing level, and the only thing left to do after taking the test was to wait for the final grades and then enroll for the next semester.
In the parking lot, as usual, Michael's car always attracted attention from the nearby students. His sleek black RAM TRX 500 stood out among the more common student vehicles, reflecting his unique status as both a student and a successful CEO.
The moment he approached his pickup truck, Michael's phone buzzed. He pulled it out from his pocket and then checked who messaged him. It was Psylemon.
"I managed to solve the questions in time, though I'm not confident if I'm going to pass or not," Michael read Psylemon's message. Michael couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in Psylemon's perseverance, despite the uncertainty.
He quickly typed a response, "You've done your part, Psylemon. Just relax and wait for the results. I'm sure you did better than you think."
Slipping his phone back into his pocket, Michael turned his attention back to his vehicle. The sun was setting, casting long shadows over the university grounds.
Just as he was about to enter his vehicle, his phone rang again. This time, it was a call from Antoinette, one of the main investors in SolaraTech. Michael immediately answered, his tone shifting to match the professional relationship they maintained.
"Michael, I hope I'm not catching you at a bad time," Antoinette's voice came through, always poised and businesslike, yet with a hint of warmth this time.
"Not at all, Mrs. Estolas. What can I do for you?" Michael responded his mind quickly switching from academic concerns to the intricacies of business relations.
"I'm calling with a personal invitation," she said, a slight change in her tone suggesting this wasn't a typical business discussion. "It's Catherine's birthday today. We're hosting a small gathering at our place, and she would be thrilled if you could make it."
Michael was momentarily taken aback. Balancing his roles as a CEO and a student often left little room for social engagements, especially personal ones. However, understanding the importance of nurturing relationships with his investors—and genuinely touched by the invitation—he knew his answer.
"That sounds wonderful, Mrs. Estolas. I'd be honored to attend. Please wish Catherine a happy birthday from me, and I look forward to celebrating with you all this weekend."
"Great...I'll send you the details of our place," Antoinette said.
"Does Catherine want something? If there is still time, I can buy her a gift..."
Finding Antoinette's house was easy, thanks to the clear instructions. He wondered where he'd park. Suddenly, one of the staff possibly working in Mrs. Estolas' estate exited the huge gate and directed him to the main entrance where the huge gate was opening automatically, allowing him to enter the expansive property.
Michael drove in, impressed by the meticulous landscaping and the overall grandeur of the setting. The staff member motioned for him to park in a designated area near the entrance of the house, where a few other luxury cars were already neatly lined up.
One car he noticed was a Ford Raptor belonging to Joshua. As expected, he is invited to the birthday party.
After parking his truck, Michael stepped out and was immediately greeted by the same staff member who had directed him earlier.
"Mr. Reyes, welcome to the Estolas residence. Mrs. Estolas has been informed of your arrival. Please, follow me."
Michael followed the staff member through a beautifully paved pathway leading to the main entrance of the house. As they walked, he took in the surrounding beauty of the estate, from the perfectly trimmed hedges to the subtle yet elegant outdoor lighting that highlighted the architectural features of the house.
Upon reaching the main door, it was opened by another staff member, and Michael was ushered into the foyer. The interior was just as impressive as the exterior, with luxurious decor and an air of sophistication that matched Antoinette's professional demeanor.
"Mr. Reyes, please make yourself comfortable in the living room. Mrs. Estolas will join you shortly," the staff member said, gesturing towards a spacious living area adorned with art pieces and plush seating.
Michael thanked the staff member and made his way to the living room, taking a seat on one of the comfortable sofas. As he waited, he couldn't help but admire the attention to detail in every aspect of the house, from the intricate designs on the ceiling to the choice of furniture and decorations. It was clear that no expense had been spared in creating a luxurious and welcoming home.
A few moments later, Antoinette Estolas entered the room, her presence immediately commanding attention. She was dressed elegantly, with a warm smile on her face as she approached Michael.
"Michael, it's so good to see you! Thank you for making it today. I know how busy you are," Antoinette greeted him warmly, extending her hand for a handshake.
Michael stood up and shook her hand, returning the warm smile. "It's my pleasure, Mrs. Estolas. Thank you for inviting me. Happy birthday to Catherine."
"Catherine will be delighted to see you. Come, let me introduce you to some of the guests and, of course, to Catherine. She's been looking forward to your arrival."
With that, Antoinette led Michael further into the house, where the birthday celebration was in full swing, with guests mingling and enjoying the festive atmosphere. There he saw people with exalted positions in society, from business magnates to renowned academics, all of whom had come to celebrate Catherine's birthday.
And seconds later, he found Catherine, dressed in a beautiful and gorgeous platinum silver dress. Next to her was Joshua.
