Chapter 264: Aware of the being Monitored

March 25th, 2028.

Michael was having a good coffee in his office while watching the news about him on national television. He was being praised for being the youngest entrepreneur to join the aerospace and defense industry and for signing a contract with the President of the Philippines. It was indeed good marketing and advertisement for him.

"I'd like to thank Mr. Reyes for developing our protection systems," the President of the Philippines was saying. "His contributions to our national defense are invaluable, and we are proud to have such an innovative mind working to ensure the safety of our nation.

With the advanced missile systems and aerospace technology provided by Reyes Corporation, we are now better equipped to handle any threats that may come our way."

The camera display shifted from the interview of the President of the Philippines to the actual contract signing where he can be seen beaming with a smile.

Michael smirked, and took another sip of coffee. Then—there was a knock on the door.

"Mr. Reyes, can I come in?"

It was Juliet's voice, meaning it was time for a morning report. He grabbed the remote from his desk and put it on mute before signaling Juliet to enter.

Juliet stepped into the office, a tablet in her hand and a determined look on her face. "Good morning, Michael. We have a few updates that require your attention."

Michael nodded, motioning for her to take a seat. "Go ahead, Juliet."

Juliet sat down and began her report. "First, the production of the new Guardian Falcon missiles is ahead of schedule. Our engineers have managed to streamline the process, so we should be able to meet the increased demand from the government contracts."

"Excellent," Michael replied, pleased with the news. "What about our other enterprise."

"Well, our solar panels are ever increasingly popular in the market. We've secured several large-scale contracts with both domestic and international clients. Sales have increased by 20% this quarter," Juliet reported, scrolling through her tablet. "As for the Medipod, it continues to perform exceptionally well.

The latest figures show a 15% increase in sales, primarily driven by the expanding markets in Europe and Asia."

Michael nodded, satisfied. "And the Alzheimer's disease pill?"

Once they were alone, Michael turned to David. "Alright, what's so urgent?"

David's expression remained serious as he continued. "We've confirmed that the CIA agents were sent to investigate your technology. They believe it's too advanced to have been developed without external help. Mitchell, one of the agents, hinted at the possibility of a powerful entity backing you."

Michael's eyes narrowed. "A powerful entity? Did she say who?"

David shook his head. "No names, but she was certain that someone else is involved. The CIA is determined to find out who or what is behind Reyes Corporation. They're not going to stop until they have answers."

"Well, based on that report of yours, the CIA won't be off my back for another one or two years. What happened to the agents that you nabbed?"

David couldn't answer immediately.

Michael sensed something was off.

"Did you kill them?"

"To be honest, we killed one of them, the other one is alive. Don't worry, as I have said to you, CIA agents are told that in the case that they were caught, the United States will deny any involvement in their operations."

He continued. "The other one, she broke under the pressure and gave us valuable information. But she's on the verge, Michael. Keeping her alive any longer might be a risk."

"This is going to be another scandal," Michael said, rubbing his temples. "The CIA is on us, and when their agents go MIA, they will assume it was Reyes Corporation."

"Mr. Reyes, I believe it's worth knowing that they are on you because of your advanced technology. In one way or another, they will take whatever it is that you have from you and use it to their interest," David reasoned.

"You leave me for a moment now, Mr. Natividad. Thank you for your intel."

David left Michael in his office, leaving him alone contemplating.

"Well, the United States is really getting suspicious of me. They even think that there is someone handing me technology, which is technically true," Michael muttered to himself. "What a pain in the ass."
