Chapter 268: They Had them in First Half

The same day, at the High Street Bonifacio Global City.

Michael Reyes was having lunch with David Natividad. And while Michael was having his delight with a fry, David spoke.

"Sir...the whole CIA is onto us. They have launched an investigation to investigate the disappearance of the two CIA agents."

Michael simply sighed. "This is what I wanted to avoid, to draw unwanted attention from the foreign agencies. But I also believe that you have no other choice but to extract information aside from that. Killing one and torturing the other may have gone too far and I worry that if the United States finds out about it, they will unleash hell upon you."

"We are aware of that, Mr. Reyes. And we are preparing for such an inevitable encounter. Don't worry, if they were to corner me, I would simply say that the decision is made entirely by me and you had no influence or knowledge of it."

Michael nodded, though he didn't look entirely reassured. "Good. Make sure everything is airtight. We can't afford any loose ends."

As they continued their conversation, Michael's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen and saw a message from the President's office requesting an urgent meeting.

"Looks like our day just got more interesting," Michael said, showing the message to David.

David raised an eyebrow. "Do you think it's about the incident?"

"Most likely. The timing is too perfect to be a coincidence. Let's finish up here and head to Malacañang. We need to be prepared for whatever questions they have," Michael replied, signaling for the bill.

Later that afternoon, at Malacañang Palace.

Michael and David were ushered into the President's office. Both were feeling tense about why they were called into an emergency meeting. Was it because the CIA had already found out about the incident where they took two CIA agents in captivity and killed one? Or is it another issue?

Michael hoped it was the latter.

"Mr. Reyes, please come inside the Presidential Office, and leave your acquaintance behind," said the Chief of Staff of the President.

Michael tilted his head to the side. "He is not needed in the office?"

The Chief of Staff also tilted her head to the side. "Uhm...the President only wanted you. The gentlemen can wait outside while you and the President are meeting."

Michael glanced at David, giving a brief nod before stepping into the President's office alone. The door closed behind him, and he found himself facing the President who looked more serious than usual.

"Thank you for coming on such short notice, Mr. Reyes," the President began, motioning for him to sit.

"Of course, Mr. President. What's the urgent matter?" Michael asked, taking a seat.

Michael took a deep breath. "It's not about the CIAs', it's a completely different matter but I don't think I am allowed to even tell you what we have discussed behind that door."

David frowned but nodded. "Understood, sir. So what's our next move?"

"Well, keep watch on the CIAs. I want them off my back if possible, but without drawing too much attention. We need to remain low-key for now," Michael replied.

David nodded. "I'll handle it."

Back at the BGC Golden Topper.

"Mr. Reyes, you weren't returning your calls. Did something happen?" Juliet asked as Michael passed by her.

"Juliet, I need you to do something for me," Michael said, bringing out pen and paper.

"Anything sir," Juliet said.

Michael quickly scribbled down a few points on the paper and handed it to Juliet.

"I need you to prepare a detailed valuation of Reyes Aerospace and Defense Systems (RADS). We're considering a significant move, and I need accurate, up-to-date figures. Focus on all assets, current contracts, and future projections," Michael instructed.

Juliet's eyes widened slightly. "Of course, Mr. Reyes. I'll get started on this immediately. When do you need it by?"

"As soon as possible, Juliet. Time is of the essence here," Michael replied.

Juliet nodded and quickly left to start gathering the necessary data.

A few hours later, Juliet entered his office with a stack of documents and a determined look on her face.

"Mr. Reyes, I've compiled the preliminary valuation of RADS. I included all current assets, contracts, intellectual property, and future projections. Here are the detailed reports," Juliet said, laying the documents on his desk.

Michael skimmed through the top report, noting the meticulous detail in Juliet's work. "This is excellent, Juliet. I'll review these in detail, but I can already see you've covered everything."

"Thank you, sir. If you need any further information or clarification, I'm here to assist," Juliet replied.

"Great. Let's also schedule a meeting with our legal and financial advisors. We need to ensure all aspects are covered before we proceed with any negotiations," Michael added.

"Yes sir!"
