Chapter 5: What Kind Of Miracle Is This? (1)
After four o’clock, there was a lot of traffic outside the window. Today was Friday, and the evening peak was an hour earlier than usual.
Ye Yuqing retracted her gaze from the window, took the thermos cup on the table, and sipped.
It has been a frenetic week, as her rental agreement was about to expire, she moved out half a month early to avoid being pestered by Han Chuan going to her house.
House hunting, packing and clearing belongings, and moving and then organizing were very laborious. She had a lot of things after all. So, after this Ye Yuqing felt like she was going to die because of the hassle of moving and the amount of stuff she had.
Earlier, a colleague had ordered a milk tea and asked if she wanted to make an order, but Ye Yuqing refused and made a wolfberry tea instead. Experts said that drinking this was nourishing, and it also replenished the qi (energy). Besides, she had already planned her weekend- she intended to sleep for two days and two nights in a row to make up for the ordeal!
——
On Friday afternoon, with the weekend just around the corner, the entire office was a bit slack. Ye Yuqing had wrapped today’s work and was waiting to leave. To kill time, she took out her mobile phone.
During the first two days, he sent a private message asking why she was doing this. But after she blacklisted him, he had switched to another number and asked when she had time, so the two of them could meet.
Han Chuan had even sent over his detailed itinerary for the next two days. The man who once resisted her attention to his work was now willingly reporting in. However, she did not reply, thinking that this was simply absurd.
When Xiao Yao got wind of this, she sneered.
He who surrenders his heart first, in the end, gives up; he who gives his heart after, remains unreconciled. He that surrenders his heart first, in the end, gives up; he that gives his heart after, remains unreconciled.
Ye Yuqing was of an affable personality, could earn money and cook delicious food. She was a worthy match to any handsome man out there. When they were dating, Han Chuan had just taken this for granted. However, it wasn’t until after the break-up that he realized such a girl was hard to come by.
Only thing was, she would not bother to pick up a boyfriend from a trash can anymore, such a scumbag should regret for the rest of his life. She was of a good disposition but also someone with a great sense of judgment.
She was thinking the best of everyone, even when she knew she was being cheated on, she considered that the main fault lay with Han Chuan and that Lin Lanyue may be as hurt as she was. Not until the truth was revealed was she totally cold-hearted.
As a result, Xiao Yao wanted to rush directly to the scum company to tear him up. Yet Yuqing stopped her, saying that going to trouble would cause trouble for the company and that both ends would be unsightly.
Since they thought they had done nothing wrong, they wanted to expose it. And in so doing prevent the next girl like her from being cheated.
As such, the pair of friends hatched a plan together, flicked Han Chuan’s phone, and posted on a group chat.
A breakup can be very painful and not everybody can remain composed. In contrast, many men will not evaluate themselves, but women feel that they do not do well enough to do so and fell into an emotional vortex.
But Ye Yuqing was adamant; she believed she had done nothing wrong, but just had some bad luck.
——
Ye Yuqing looked at the list of private messages on Weibo. She shook her head, convinced that she was not wrong. She and Han Chuan were fellow alumni, and the circle was not too big, but not too small. Also, the man in question had been quite popular in school. So, as the week went on, word about the matter of the trio stirred up.
She had been using Weibo for over two years now, and her update frequency had been very limited. Occasionally, she uploaded some practice works and had followership of more than 10,000.
In her early days, she followed many of her fellow alumni but refrained from posting much about her private life.
Now, in addition to Han Chuan, there were many people asking about her life in private messages. While some praised her for doing a good job, some others rebuked her for taking things too far and not giving others face.
There were also girls who had been cheated on, expressing sympathy; they felt bad for her and sorry for her plight. There was some “slut-shaming” too saying that if she did this, who would dare want her in the future?
There was even a “wave of strategy” looking for a guy, asking her if she was looking for a new boyfriend? Did she want to relieve loneliness?
The general verdict was that she was in a miserable state.
Ye Yuqing decided to send a tweet to state that she was fine. But on second thought, responding in this way might make people think she was pretending to be strong again, hence she dismissed the idea.
In addition to the general acquaintances, there were people who were interested in the spectacle but didn’t have anything knowledgeable to say about it. They rushed to the comment section of her Weibo to ask if they were parties involved in the “couple fraudulent marriage incident”.
Those fans who liked her work and followed also replied to the other person, and were joined by others, chatted a few posts down.
Ye Yuqing had deleted her Weibo post and was inevitably affected by the low mood after reading it all the way down.
Who are they? Would they dare ask Han Chuan the same way?
Is it acceptable, just because you have a good temper, to be trampled on with no regard?
Suddenly, she hit upon a bold idea and she uploaded the photo taken at the club. Under it was the caption:
[Alcohol is bad for the stomach, thank you Mr. J for the warm water. ]
Just pretend that this is a new lover, so she was not that pitiful anymore!
As soon as she clicked ‘post’, Ye Yuqing threw away her mouse as if her hand was scalded. She must have been crazy to do this!
What the heck is this! It’s so embarrassing!
The said picture was of low quality, blurry and all, but it was hard to hide the beauty of the man within.
Well-defined shoulder blades, smooth jawlines, there was that kind of stunning beauty at a glance, not limited by pixels, but more of indistinct beauty.
Ye Yuqing drank a large sip of wolfberry tea, and after a few minutes of delay opened her Weibo again and prepared to delete what she had just posted.
Only five minutes, and there were already 40 comments and 144 likes!
A college classmate commented excitedly: [This is the new boyfriend?]
Unknown fans flocked to say how handsome he was… you’re a winner in life, right, your boyfriend is so good-looking!
There were even a few passersby who were drawn to the photo and left messages.
Most of the people in the circle were shocked and envious. There were one or two comments expressing doubt, but Ye Yuqing simply chose to ignore them.
Beauty really makes people go crazy, regardless of gender. Ye Yuqing was a bit surprised, she had only wanted to avoid the sympathies and criticism before posting the photo on an impulse. The regions were beyond her expectations. But… it didn’t seem all that bad.
At this moment her sense of vanity was greatly satisfied, and her heart was swept away by the feeling of restraint. Ye Yuqing dismissed the idea of deleting it… How about … leaving it be for now?
She seriously examined the photo, he was taller and more handsome than Han Chuan, no wonder everyone was so enthusiastic.
Xiao Yao once said she was easily scammed by men with money. This year, she and Han Chuan had spent almost 100,000 in their relationship.
This was so because, if the man gave a gift, she would return one with the same price, the famous brands that she would not actively buy.
When they went out to eat, they both paid. Han Chuan came from a well-to-do family, so choosing a high-profile restaurant would normally amount to a meal of several hundred.
The things that were given by him, she basically couldn’t use. So after the breakup, she returned the gifts, while those she sent had not been returned. She didn’t want to tangle with the other anymore nor did she wish for it.
If it were like this, why not spend money to find a suitable boyfriend… Would it be better?
