Chapter 65 – Cat Dad and Overgeared Slaves
As it was nighttime, sailing in the open sea was dangerous. Most ships docked near a port or a coast to avoid complications. However, one fishing boat jetted through the high tides as if it was a rocket.
Shepherd sweated profusely while he was holding the wheel. Meanwhile, Magdalene manipulated the seawater to accelerate the ship’s momentum. Instead of sailing at the usual speed of 5 to 10 knots, the fishing boat had become a speed boat with a water jet engine.
Shepherd glanced at his boat’s current speed. It went over 60 knots. He immediately checked the durability of the boat.
The durability bar was 50%.
“…”
<Magdalene assures you that the boat will not break that easily.>
He looked at his feet. Water slowly gushed into the ship from below.
“…?”
<Magdalene says it was not her fault. The fishing boat is too fragile.>
“…!!”
<Magdalene will do something about it.>
RUMBLE
The wooden ship suddenly grew roots and branches. The vines plugged the holes and absorbed all water inside. In a minute, leaves and flowers sprouted from the vines and branches.
It was no longer a wooden fishing boat anymore. It was now a tree boat. With a sturdier vessel, Shepherd was relieved.
Minutes later, Shepherd brought the boat to Gnoll Island. However, he was nervous.
Tuna-like mermen roamed on the shore around the island. They stared at Shepherd’s name and the ship for a moment before they smiled at him. Some of them even waved their hands as a greeting gesture.
Shepherd parked the vessel in front of the usual dock. Although he noticed the remains of the shipwrecks, he ignored them.
“Took you a while, munya!”
Shepherd gazed at his master. He slightly bowed toward the catopus while he glanced at his master’s new companion.
Then, his eyes and the giant woman’s eyes met.
“…”
“Hello, comrade!”
They briefly exchanged greetings with their look, but Shepherd immediately shut his eyes as if he remembered something terrible.
<Magdalene asks you if you glanced at that bitch’s boobs.>
“…!”
<Magdalene wants you to close your eyes until that bitch leaves your sight or she will castrate you.>
Shepherd repeatedly nodded.
.
Xiaomao was puzzled why his slave seemed restless. He turned his attention to the fishing boat and frowned.
“The last time I saw my boat, it was a normal fishing boat, munya. How does it become a freaking tree boat, munya?”
Shepherd slightly grinned, but he didn’t answer.
“And why are you closing your eyes, munya? Am I that unsightly?”
Shepherd repeatedly shook his head.
“Anyway, I’m late for that quest. Take us to the Seaside Town, munya!”
Shepherd nodded. He turned around and walked back to his ship. Unfortunately, as he walked around blind, he slipped from the dock and fell into the water.
Xiaomao and Lucky stared at the clumsy retainer with a pokerface expressions. They were curious why he turned into a klutz.
Shepherd opened his eyes and climbed back on his boat. He coughed and averted his eyes, avoiding eye contact with Lucky.
Xiaomao noticed the reaction. He turned toward the beast girl and frowned at her current half-naked appearance.
“Lucky, put these on, munya.”
Xiaomao brought out gears from his inventory and passed them to Lucky. They were the super rare set of heavy armor that was dropped from Warg Lord.
.
Galm Breastplate (Galm Set)
The breastplate of Galm once belonged to the heinous monster of the destroyed Gnoll Dungeon. It was created by his dungeon core, and it served as his personal gear for years.

This shout technique was the unique skill of Warg Lord, Galm. By unleashing this warcry, everyone within a radius of 50 meters will suffer from an abnormal status effect, Fear. At the same time, the warcry encourages allies and party members, giving them a boon status effect, Courage.

.
Although Xiaomao wanted to give this to Shepherd, it had the restriction of Beastmen Race. Thus, he could only give the set item to Lucky.
The beast girl rejoiced. She kissed Xiaomao’s cheek and happily put the gears on. Aside from the breastplate, there were armguards, leggings, boots, a helmet, and a shoulder guard to make the full set. Each of them gave a different DEF and boons.
When Lucky equipped everything, she no longer looked like a stunning lady. On the other hand, she became a medieval knight with a fancy wolf helmet.
Xiaomao laughed as he passed two additional items to her. One was a blue-named war ax while the other one was a tower shield that dropped from a gnoll general.
When she equipped everything, Xiaomao examined her stats.

.
Her stats now looked scary. Xiaomao doubted that any monster could physically harm her now when she could simply regenerate over 1,000 HP per second.
‘She’s overgeared, isn’t she? And this is not even her final form! I haven’t used my Slave Training Skill on her yet!’
Xiaomao laughed as he wondered how she would surprise Otto’s mercenaries in the upcoming journey. He rechecked the quest log to remind himself of what he should do next.
But before that, Xiaomao turned to Shepherd, who was waiting for them on the boat.
Xiaomao and Lucky got on the boat, and they sailed back to Seaside Town.
On the way there, Xiaomao arranged skill books, spell books, and new gears for Shepherd. While he was at it, he examined the old quest, which he had been neglecting for days.
.
Unique Quest: Suspicious Guild Branch Manager’s Activities
You have been forced to sell the unidentified black stone to Otto. Fortunately, you chose to compromise and avoid a direct confrontation, so Otto no longer pays attention to you.
Still, this behavior is not something a guild branch manager should have. You should report this to the Yeet City’s authorities or the Church of Pangu to report the suspicious activities of Otto.
Quest Objective: Find a bishop of Pangu Church or Guild Branch Manager of Yeet City’s Adventurer Guild and report this incident to one of them.
Reward: Unknown
*[?????? Instinct]: Be wary of Otto’s veteran mercenaries.
.
A few days ago, Xiaomao wasn’t confident that he could survive Otto’s scheme. But now, he grew a lot stronger, and he had two trusty companions to help.
‘Alright. Back to the mainland. I have two overgeared bodyguards, and I’ll crush whoever Otto hires to kill me!’
