214 Cat Dad’s New Enemies?
Chapter 214 – Cat Dad’s New Enemies?
Despite the controversies of the game, Pangu Online 2’s company was unchallenged. No law firm or government pressed charges or tried to stop Pan Xian from operating the online game.
The suspicious activities began attracting more attention. The world stopped ignoring their existence and questioned why nobody shut down the game yet.
Because of such attention, the views of the live stream were staggering high. Even non-gamers watched the stream to see what the rage was all about.
After the match between Xiaomao and Liu Bei, many guilds competed for supremacy. During the intermissions, experts, such as professional gamers, top players, and developers gave an interview about their impressions of the game.
However, one of the players accidentally bragged about his investment in PACT cryptocurrency when it was five or six cents. And now, it was over two dollars per token.
This caused the community to explode. Gold farmers, who thought that the game would soon die, returned to the game and reinvested in-game characters. Real investors investigated the game and got interested in how it operated.
Then, before the day ended, one of the rich men posted a video, showing off his new superpower, which was a basic novice mage’s fireball spell.
The spell effects were weak, but it caused a stir in social media. Although many internet trolls dismissed the videos as CGI, many gamers soon found out that they could also faintly see their system screen behind their eyelids if they closed their eyes for long enough.
Word of mouth spread, and non-gamers were attracted to the rumor. Some of them took risks and purchased PACT to join the game.
Before the next morning, the PACT’s price soared once again.
= Second day of the guild war tournament =
Because of the overwhelming number of participants, the guild war’s first round took a whole day to finish. From over 10,000 guilds, they cut the number down in half.
Still, the second round would also take an entire day to conclude as the players and guilds experience their first war, either by watching the live stream or participating in the event themselves.
In addition, there was an additional rule to the guild war. Although 100 players were the limitation of each guild’s participants, they could have 900 players as a reserve to switch during the match!
This rule was explained later after Xiaomao had his turn, which confused every guild since they only sent 100 members to join the event. But once they learned it, they recruited more players to join their teams. Some of the guilds even paid professional players to help them.
Meanwhile, smart guild leaders saw what Liu Bei and Xiaomao did. Instead of going after fellow players, they deployed non-combatant guild members who weren’t in the event world to recruit NPCs in their game world. As a result, more players and NPCs from the three worlds flocked into the fountain plazas.
Among the busy people, a group of players approached the bronze gate of the MUNYA Guild. They looked at the cute guild’s insignia of a cat’s face.
Absolute Halal was the leader of this party. He knocked on the bronze door.
“Sir, shouldn’t we send a DM to Xiaomao instead? Why knocking on the doors?”
Halal shook his head, “Be respectful. Sometimes, role-playing is a must. We don’t know if Xiaomao is busy, so we shouldn’t be interrupting him. At least, give him room to react and let his subordinate welcome us first.”
“Oh, I see.”
The subordinate of Halal nodded as they understood the gesture. They patiently waited for Xiaomao’s people to open the gate for them.
They weren’t disappointed. A minute later, a priest in a white robe opened the bronze gate and walked out. However, he came with a small whiteboard and a chemical pen.
Halal glanced at the person’s name.
John Preacher, Level 275
Halal and his friends gulped. Although they were proud that they reached level 150 and joined the top leaderboard in levels, their strength didn’t come close to this NPC.
John wrote the whiteboard as a way to communicate with Halal.
[Can I help you, sir?]
“Ah, yes,” Halal slightly bowed his head. “I’m Absolute Halal. I’m an acquaintance of Xiaomao, and I would like to make an appointment for a meeting with him. Could I?”
John wiped the whiteboard and wrote.
[Our guild will have a match at 7 today.]
“Oh, please don’t worry. Our guild also has a match at 9. If possible, could I meet him at noon?”
[I’ll tell my master. Also, may I know what the business is so that I can inform my master?]
“It’s about the guild’s alliance. I would like to propose an alliance with his guild since we both are in World Three. We don’t want to get into trouble if one of our guild members accidentally bumps into your guild members and gets into a fight.”
[I see. I’ll relay your words to him.]
“Thank you very much!”
Halal bowed and turned around to his friends. John also closed the gate.
“That’s it?” Halal’s friends were disappointed. They thought that they might get to meet Xiaomao, who overpowered the level-950 with his mysterious grand spell.
“Be patient, men. We don’t rashly pressure them or get too personal. Leave them room to breathe when you negotiate with a friend. You don’t want to piss him off, do you?”
Everybody nodded. Then, they followed Halal to the plaza to search for a food stall to buy more food.
After Halal had left, other guilds also visited Xiaomao’s guild. However, all of them were blocked by John, who only took notes and communicated with his whiteboard.
While John was busy in front of the bronze gate, several transparent NPCs had been staring at MUNYA Guild.
The leader of these spiritual beings was Joan, the servant of Battlefield Warlord. Currently, she was the new leader of the Valkyrie Guild!
Joan glared at John for a moment before she closed her eyes. Her eyelids trembled as if she had rolled her eyes upward.
Suddenly, Joan opened her eyes and smiled. She turned to her subordinates.
A transparent berserker man got curious.
“So? What’s the lord’s order?”
Joan chuckled, “I didn’t talk to the lord. It’s the lady.”
“Okay, fine. So, what does she say?”
“Lady Freya said we shouldn’t openly provoke Xiaomao, but we can use the pretense of the guild war to cut his arms and legs.”
“So?”
“We go ham during the war, but we won’t go all out against Xiaomao. Instead, we’ll target his subordinates. We kill his subordinates and sent their souls to Asgard. As for the guild war, we can afford to lose on purpose!”
