Chapter 49 - 49. Arrogance

Ruri stayed rooted there for a while, she didn't know what to feel but she still calmed herself down.

Yes, she was overthinking it, maybe her ZiXuan was really too busy and hence gave such orders.

He was never someone with many words to say, yes, he didn't mean to reject her, he was just being precise, yes, that must be it!

She stabilized her trembling body, she was never someone who could suffer even the tiniest bit of hurdle in her life, she proclaimed to be self-made but she never knew what an obstacle was because she was always protected by her family.

She thought this world was just like this, as long as, she had her talent and passion everything will fall on her lap, she never tried to notice the protection of her family and never valued it and wanted to 'build' herself on her 'own'.

Well, god did play with her because in the end the only thing she ever found hard was to get the love of Qin ZiXuan, she was born with a golden spoon, has been under the wings of her family forever; even the toughest of jobs like her need to walk in the A-country's Spring Fashion Week which would have placed her in the pinnacle of C-country's supermodels' ranks and a place in the top 20 supermodels of the world, fell on her lap just from a call to the organizing committee by her parents; but she finally found her 'retribution', it was a one-sided love from the beginning and no matter the work she put up in to it, it was destined to fail, you see, our power couple are fated ba.

Unaware of such things, she gracefully held her head up and walked outside the room with Secretary Qian by her side after saying a simple, "Thank you."

After she got out of the building, she found her manager outside the building, waiting for her.

When she reached her, her manager Nian Xi, a petite and strict looking woman in her early 30s, hurriedly helped her in so as not to be shot by paparazzi.

Once inside, Nian Xi asked with a soft voice, yes, she appeared strict but was soft to this princess who was the young miss of her family's benefactors, the Xun family-

"You came back rather early, was CEO Qin busy?"

Ruri gave a soft reply, "hmm"

"Ruri, you have a packed schedule. We can't push it, if you're done here, we should go back ba", Nian Xi told her patiently.

Ruri was not the type to throw her temper and get irritated but she easily sulked and it took everything to get her mood back and hence this slow discussion.

Not getting a reply, Nian Xi was getting slightly edgy only to see Ruri in a daze.

Just when she thought to push her for an answer when she heard Ruri's almost muffled voice-

"We didn't meet. He was out for work and seemed busy and--" she trailed off.

Nian Xi knew what she had done till date, a day when Qin ZiXuan asked Ruri out of his own accord for a day was non-existent, so much so that, she thought that he and Ruri were not on the same page, as it seemed like Ruri was at level max of dating while the CEO didn't know what gameplay meant.

Many a time she doubted about their rumored 'engagement' but everytime she asked Ruri who was the only person in the know-how of it, though she never got a certain answer, from her gestures she deemed it to be her innocence plus, the rumors were there for a year now without any amendments, so, she was quite certain of it and hence, labeled the man to have no such experience considering his usual aloof and distant personality.

But then again that just added to his charm though, because even she, who had seen many men due to her line of business found him to be the cream of the crop, there weren't many men who had that level of charm at such an young age and let the matter go, she believed in their relationship and was more than happy to give a push here and there for the ship to sail.

She was well aware of the CEO's attitude towards Ruri as he never took an initiative to contact and if they were the ones taking it, he always rejected it first before accepting because of herself as the 'backup', she had a gut feeling that something was wrong but she refused to admit it.

Now that the princess finally found out a hint of his earlier conduct but other than appearing a bit listless, there was not much change so, she composed herself a bit and prodded her to continue what she was saying, she knew something was off.

"He....Secretary Qian said that we have to make an appointment to visit him next...", Ruri trailed off. It was still hard for her to digest that fact.

"Wha- Did he force you out? There's no way he would do that under CEO Qin's watch ba", Nian Xi lost it, she was sure of it because it has always been like that, as a result, she became too proud and conceited; even if CEO Qin was very busy just a call from her to Master Xun would always have the CEO come to them, so no way could they get Ruri out of there, she was sure that CEO Qin would never offend the Xun-jia because of their business...

Well, it blurred her judgment.

Qin Empire never needed connections, not now and never so in the future.

It was other families including the Xuns' who needed them; he never came because of Ruri herself, that showed what she meant to him, which was close to almost nothing and he only came because of the so-called 'call'.

It was not that he couldn't offend them, it was just that he would never let such petty things ruin the good relationship that was shared between his grandfather and the Xun family's former-patriarch, he was just being filial as in his and his Meilin's eyes the other 'powerhouses' and 'old-money' meant nothing and even if they did, it was just another investment, that is, if they can push them up to the pedestal of the C-country's helm, they can pull them down from it too!

But alas, this ignorant manager will find this out a year or two later...for now she was drowning in her arrogance and anger towards that 'small' secretary, she will definitely complain about him to the CEO when Ruri is officially engaged and get him out.

'Arrogance is a sin and ignorance a bliss'

She was too high up in the clouds that she forgot her own worth.

In the eyes of these business moguls, she was worse than a bug, at least some bugs can get them money while she was worth...nothing.

But who was to be held up for it,.... no one knows and only time will tell.
