Chapter 52 - I'll steal you

Jing Lihua called Mei Xiu and gave her an address to pick her up. In just twenty minutes, Mei Xiu arrived.

"President." Mei Xiu rushed to her side after getting out of her car. "Where had you gone to? Why did you not pick up your phone? We've all been worried..."

"Did you tell my grandfather?"

"...No"

"Good." Jing Lihua's tense expressions eased. "It's a long story. I'll tell you everything on our way back to the apartment."

Meanwhile, Wang Yi walked out. For once, his eyes met Li Zhiqiang and he stopped. Something like acknowledgement reflected in his eyes. Li Zhiqiang conveyed something and Wang Yi understood it silently before Wang Yi nonchalantly walked to a side as nothing happened. But Jing Lihua sharp eyes noticed all.

"Wang Yi drive." She had to run an investigation on this crazy man and of course this suspicious driver.

To her surprise, Wang Yi glanced at Li Zhiqiang as if asking for permission. I'm the boss here, alright!

Li Zhiqiang walked to Jing Lihua to stand in front of her. "You still haven't given me the reward you promised." His eyes looked frisky.

"I'll ask Mei Xiu to send you anything you want." Jing Lihua didn't want to have any ridiculous conversation with this man; not at least in front of her secretary.

"I don't want anything else."

"What you asked is not something I can provide." Jing Lihua's attention was attracted by an incoming call from Heng Bingwen. "When you come up with something reasonable then contact me." She ignored him and walked to the car.

Wang Yi was appalled. He glanced at his boss then at the woman. How could she... How could she ignore him like that? And the most shocking thing was his Boss was smiling after being ignored? Ah... Spooky!

Only after a permissive nod from Li Zhiqiang, he strode towards the driving seat. The car sped off while Li Zhiqiang stayed frozen at his spot. His eye narrowed at the retreating call. He smiled faintly.

"President, Tang Huang whereabouts are unknown." When Jing Lihua picked up, a rushed voice came.

"Has he fled the country?"

"This is what that baffled me. I've checked everything and I can say with certainty that he didn't leave the country. Last he was spotted at the Beijing airport. He had already reserved the seats to flee the country but the last minute... He was abducted by some men."

Jing Lihua's face twitched. "Let me guess. This Li family has something to do with it?"

Heng Bingwen's silence confirmed Jing Lihua's speculation. Jing Lihua sighed.

"Did you run the tests?"

"No President. Your grandfather seems to have guessed our intentions. It is impossible for me to get his DNA."

Her grandfather was not someone to be underestimated. He would have already guessed her intentions. After a long thought, she came up with an alternative. "Use my mother reports after her death." After exchanging a few more words, Jing Lihua hung up and glanced outside.

"Mei Xiu, what about the meeting with Mr. Li?" She asked after a long pause. Her eyes still gazing out.

"President I received a call from Mr. Li's office. They canceled the meeting later that evening. They said their President had something... important to deal with. They even apologized for not sending the car."

Jing Lihua was relieved. Who knew how that 'Devil' would have responded if she had failed to arrive on time. From what she knew about him from rumors, he liked to have things on time. And once he closed his doors on someone, there was no way to persuade him the other way around. To have those Sounthers real estate in her hands was really putting pressure on her.

She wanted to get rid of them as soon as possible. Because once the news was released about their worth, endless chaos would follow. She was aware of Su Liwei's interests in all her projects. He'll know sooner or later. Only someone as powerful as President Li could deal with that chaos. And she was also looking forward to his 'answers' for meddling into her affairs.

But whatever reason he had to help her, it couldn't be as serious as her situation.

Jing Lihua's thoughts were interrupted when the driver announced that they had arrived.

Jing Lihua grabbed the keys from the reception and aimed for her room. Before heading for her room, she had asked Mei Xiu to contact an agency to provide her with bodyguards. The person who had tried to abduct her... there was no telling he wouldn't try again. After a day of chaos, she was dead tired. She just wanted to throw herself on her bed. But fate had other plans for her. Just as she walked out of the elevator, she was met with a familiar face.
