Chapter 244 - The Ancient Man's Sword

It was already morning at the 'village' yet the atmosphere seemed to be like that of dusk. The sun had already shone up, but its rays were being blocked by the mist that enshrouded the area.

It was the first time that Su Ci Yi witnessed it in this place. Back in the seclusion cave, up high on the mountain, this fog didn't reach it.

Although the atmosphere was rampant in the morning but it'll be all right whenever it reached the middle of the day.

This was what Sang Shui informed him. She was unsure about this incident at first, but now that she experienced it in full; she felt the urged to solve this case immediately.

It was originally from the forest where a wormhole occurred, but it already reached the civilization this time. This smoke was toxic that no people left their homes and didn't dare to interact with that thing.

Lingua Liu had already passed a notice to every household to take heed of this phenomenon. This time, they were against the nature and they didn't know where to attack the opponent. If this was a person with a living body, they could plan severe precautions and formulate counterattacks.

Su Ci Yi was their only salvation this time, seeing she has the ability to transverse and stroll despite the thick black smoke inside the forest.

The wormhole where these things came still spurting and releasing this kind of billowing smoke. She didn't even dare to look down the narrow hole, for it seemed to emit vast maliciousness. As if the one below is darkest entity akin to the devil.

"This... is getting more and more provocative."

Sang Shui sigh as he looked at the smoke screen partition on his window.

No one dared to go out of their houses, and that includes all officials and even the Chief.

Su Ci Yi was staying temporarily in Sang Shui's abode.

The Shui clan had a large acc.u.mulation of properties and even had the biggest estate in the entire village. He had a lot of rooms to spare for even a hundred of guests.

Lingua Liu arranged for her to stay inside, along with her second disciple.

Su Ci Yi also took a peek at the smoke screen where Sang Shui's eyes locked on, while sipping a kind of herbal tea in which recently she had been fond of.

" Rather provocative, once the wormhole even became larger the immense amount it will puff of enshrouding the entire area.

"Is there any way to stop the enshrouding mist at all? The chief's hands were tied on this. Any normal person wouldn't be able to even go near that place."

Su Ci Yi thought for a while, " If I have a sword on my own..."

Sang Shui immediately pulled off his sword in his scabbard. His sword was like his twin. No matter where he went, it always followed and placed on his back.

" I'll give this to you. I had imprinted it with a rune from my ability. Although it'll differ from a cultivators sword, it could help." For the benefit, and if it could be solved by just a sword, Sang Shui will not be reluctant to hand it to her.

This sword was the witnessed of a few oaths of his ancestors during their times. This generation, they handed it to him. His blood and power were imprinted on this weapon.

Of course, Su Ci Yi had been too engrossed to have her own sword.

But still, this was a legacy left for Sang Shui by his parents. She couldn't just take away those fond memories that he had with this weapon. It's sentimental value for him will just haunt her conscience.

" It's all right. I don't need that." Su Ci Yi rejected his idea.

Anyway, no matter how she liked it. It'll not be compatible with her. She needed a true holy sword that had an ounce of a cultivation value and is not only made of mere iron or metal.

"It won't be compatible to use on my part. If I have a sword, I need one that will solely bind with my cultivation core and link with my spirit. It's also the reason I needed one, in order to measure the boundary of that wormhole."

" I see..."

What Su Ci Yi saw was a little bunny rabbit dropping its ears in front of her. She regretted not receiving his goodwill. But even so, even if she received it, it won't be a good companion for her. Sang Shui's sword is purged in refine elegance. It's sparkling metal edge and its glistening scabbard was so blinding that one would hesitate to use it. Also, it's so obvious that this thing was from the previous ancestors of Sang Shui.

If this beautiful thing will be in her care, with her recklessness, the pure white aura of this will just be smudge with dirt and blood.

It'll only ruin Sang Shui's sword.

Su Ci Yi saw his face became sad. However, his solemn mood was only short lived. Shang Shui's eyes shone upon remembering something.

"Right." Why didn't he thought about it after all?

"Yi, if there was a cultivator that time that they claimed to be... and his treasures where still passed down in the history of this place, wouldn't it be impeccable to think he should also have a spiritual sword on his own?"

If there was such a thing, Lingua Liu would know it.

"If such a thing exists, the Chief would have already tipped us off."

"No. the Chief won't tell you until you specified what you wanted. I also suspected that he had a few of the treasures of that man in his possession. A sword isn't something that he would flaunt, especially if it contained the great history of our land."

Su Ci Yi thought that Sang Shui had a point.

She didn't dwindle around, and immediately went to the Chief's abode. Since the fog isn't that still lethal, Sang Shui can accompany her to his house.

***

" Indeed. There was a sword that our ancestor had left us." Lingua Liu confirmed Sang Shui's hypothesis. He was happy that at this time, he was able to help Su Ci Yi.

And it turned out, they will obtained that treasure weapon easily this time.

" However, it was lost recently and had no leads of its whereabouts."

Sang Shui "..."

He concluded too early.

Su Ci Yi stepped in and butted, " Where did you lost it? Perhaps we can track it down?"

Lingua Liu shook his head. "I just found that it was missing recently. " It seemed that it was lost on those times that I was not around. Back at the time when you still have your deputy as a chief."

Sang Shui looked at him in scrutiny.

" The previous deputy had found the hidden vault where the sword was hidden."

"Then we should interrogate that man and ask him the whereabouts of it?" Su Ci Yi interjected.

" I already did that..." he paused.

Lingua Liu cast a faraway looked from outside of his window. Since it's going to be in the middle of the day, the fog was gradually dismissing. Eventually bringing back the luscious and prune prestige of this civilization.

Su Ci Yi couldn't help but get uneasy, " So what is your findings? We ought to act right now. Or it'll be too late."

On the other side, Sang Shui was still listening patiently.

Lingua Lui sigh and continued, "That bastard said that he sold it to a woman of unknown origin. The only thing he could remember was the striking appearance of the woman's face and her coated red lips like a wild seductress. Aside from that, nothing else."

Su Ci Yi's eyes widen in disbelief.

I-it shouldn't be that person, right?
