Chapter 126 The System's Foreboding

[...And that didn't even trigger you at all.

Besides you act like she's some superior being when you faced her, opening the door for her and following behind her like some good slave.

Know Zeras, the Nine families, the EIA, the Galaxy Rank experts, they are all nothing in the grand scheme of things. They are all nothing and should be nothing to you.

It's time you started acting and training like that girl called Gaia Shiron and stop looking to gaining bonds that means little in the end.

Friendships slows you down and make you weak. If there's someone who had to be lax and be making friend, wasting time in this entire galaxy, the last person should be you.]

Zeras stood nunbed for a minute as he his mouth opened wide in thinking about what the system said.

He had never thought about it but he truly came too close to death this time. He almost died when the spaceship got attacked by the Abyssal creature. He had almost died when he was in the EIA base Infirmary with the princess as he was then truly weak and she could have killed him if she felt like it.

Besides Zeras was sure, if princess Diana truly killed him right then and there, then the EIA would give probably little to no punishment to her and at most recieve some compensation from the Amazon family at worst and the case would be closed.

The Higher ups could have decided to end him instead of punishing him a little.

[ Do you know why you come so close to death this time?]

[Trust!]

[You trusted the EIA, you trusted the Amazon family. You trusted their images. You forgot it was also one of the Nine families who kicked you out and sold you to be a lab rat.

The world is harsh Zeras, image and friend ship can be gone in poof with enough reasons. Your only greatest reliance is your strength...]

A vein pooped up on Zera's head [You're wrong about me no longer being a human. I'm a human. And I don't form friendship for ulterior motives. the friends I make, who I decides to trust, that's my and only my decision. It has nothing to do with you.

You're a brother to me and more of a helper, stop trying to be my parent.] Zeras said his hands reaching again for the door knob.

[I'm afraid you'll regret your decision Zeras. Because you'll be losing everything real soon if you continue likd this.]

A vein popped on Zera's face but he soon calmed down as a smile appeared on his face.

"I never knew you were this worried. You know if something bothers you, you can just tell me..." Zeras said with a smile.

"I heard he's no longer an ordinary Cadets and have been promoted to a specialist during the mission."

The hushed voice of the New Cadets echoed throughout the room but Zeras didn't pay too much attention on that and just scanned around the room and soon found the place where Vornek and Quinn could be seen waving at him.

"You're finally here, Officer..." Quinn said immediately standing up and giving him a salute but Zeras only snorted coldly as he sat down and grabbed the juice box belonging to Quinn before gulping all the contents down.

"Ah, so invigorating..." Zeras said with a satisfied expression. The last thing he drank was the inky water of the malevolent sea making this juice look like the purest of all liquids.

"Hey man, what the hell..." Quinn said a she hurriedly snatched back his fruit juice.

"It's not hell, it's Heck. For you disturbing me so much and not letting have the much desired rest..."

"You really are very strange. When everybody is prophesizing you'll lose your dorm room and your rapidly spiking reputation would come crashing down in this event.

You're actually sleeping comfortably in your room..." Vornek raising an eyebrow as he looked at Zeras with a weird expression.

"Well, nervousness gets you no where... Anyway you look kinda different you two, you both radiate a different aura..." Zeras said raising an eyebrow as he noticed the duo really looked stronger than they were before especially Vornek who seemed to have become even muscular in his human form while Quinn seemed to be like a pumped automatic bomb ready to explode

"Well, we are now at the Meteor rank stage..." Quinn said revealing the bing bang that made Zeras spit out the fruit juice he was drinking.

"COUGH, COUGH... You're at the Meteor rank stage already, WOW, you two must be the strongest right now in the entire New cadets..." Zeras said confidently but all he got was a raised eyebrow from Vornek while Quinn laughed out loud in mockery.

"You're wrong, there are about 5 more people who are already at the Meteor rank stage..." Vornek sad as blank as ever.

"Anyway you're looking strange too. What's up with the eye? Giving me chills..." Quinn said with a raised eyebrow.

"Tch, its nothing. Anyway what's the blabber all about. They say I would soon be losing my Dorm room. But with you being the second, I don't think that's possible right or are you also vying for the first rank?" Zeras asked slightly confused.

He was well aware Quinn wasn't really interested in these rankings stuff and since he's the second on the rankings, then it would be almost impossible for anyone to challenge him.

"Of course I don't care about the ranking. Why would I want to change my dorm room. But the event rule is different this time. According to the info I could gather. Anyone in the top ten can challenge you for your dorm room without necessarily having to first challenge me.

Besides, you have a lot of enemy this time...." Quinn said.

"Firstly, you're the first on the New Cadets Rankings. Secondly, Your position was suddenly improved and you're now a specialist rank. Majority of the cadets are now calling you 'Higher-ups favorite.' If they managed to defeat you, then all the fame is pretty theirs and they would soon get noticed by the higher-ups too..." Vornek said

"In short terms, everyone wants to use you as a stepping stone..." Quinn concluded as Zera's eyebrows furrowed before suddenly bursting into laughter.
