“Monstrous geniuses, huh?” Zeras mused before shrugging.

“You look overconfident in yourself. Like you have never lost a battle before...” Audrey said as Zeras chuckled.

“Never lost a battle? I have lost many battles, battles where I had no choice but to run with my tail between my legs and beg for my legs to move five times faster so I can escape!” Zeras said as Audrey burst into boisterous laughter.

“Then what gives you so much confidence? You exude an aura of not caring at all about anything. Almost like you just remain indifferent to the entire world. I am a True Universe Origin rank and judging from D’arvey’s description of your strength. It is safe to say that you’re at the Pseudo-universe origin rank. Yet, I don’t feel that at all. It feels like I’m talking to my equal. There’s no pressure of the weak and the strong at all...” Audrey said as Zeras chuckled.

“I really have lost many battles, but all those battles, they are to people who are just too above me in cultivation. Just so far away from my league...” Zeras said as his eyes flashed and he remembered his battles with Adrian, with Shima, with the shadow walker devil, with Demorgogon. They were all devastatingly strong and just too far above him.

“That said, I have never lost a battle with a person that is present within my own cultivation base. That’s probably what gives me confidence...” Zeras said with an unbothered expression. But in truth, that was a lie.

His confidence came stemed just how many life and death situations he had scraped past. How many times he had fallen and risen and fallen once more. Abandoned, left to die, beaten to a pulp, underestimated, crippled, abandoned once more.

It was an endless circle that just kept repeating, each one enough to make some cultivators never rise up again. Yet, he had gone through the majority of them more than once.

It was a devastating experience, almost like someone or something was purposefully testing him. But still, he was standing right now, and that was what gave him confidence.

“Hmmm, that’s commendable. Hopefully you’re able to keep that record once you partake in the competition...” Audrey said as Zeras smiled and didn’t respond.

“You said the Divine Battle Sect tests your combat ability, right? Then what about the other two sects, what does the Divine Aether Sect test?” Zeras asked, already deciding which sect he would probably choose among those three.

“The Divine Aether Sects are a sect that cultivates Divine Power. Like elements, attributes, energies. They are the absolute opposite of the Divine Battle sect that cultivates the body. If the Divine Battle sect can be said to be a school of warriors, then the Divine Aether sects can be said to be a school of mages...” Audrey said as Zeras gave a nod of understanding. That was pretty much what he expected judging by their names.

“And it might be more surprising, but the students of the Divine Aether sects are just as powerful as the students of the Divine Battle Sect. They are not in any way weaker...” Audrey said to him as Zeras gave a nod.

The only reason why he might want to join such a sect was if he wanted to focus on his origin wrath lightning. Apart from that, he didn’t have much affinity with the Divine Battle sect.

And immediately, Zeras’ body dropped down to the ground as if dead, as dark blood kept oozing out from his senses.

Yet as Audrey carried him and ran into the distance with his fastest speed, he failed to notice that golden flicker.

That flicker from the necklace on Zeras’ neck!
