The ozone was thickening. The crackle of the electricity flashed through the sky as lightning forked somewhere above me. There was every indication that it was about to start storming. Aside from the darkness of the clouds and the scent of the rain. It was just the static charged ozone, the lightning, and the thunder that rumbled.

Still, I didn’t dare to look up at the sky. I didn’t want to take my eyes off of Orson for fear that he would be angered at the movement. He might take my looking up at the sky as me not taking him seriously enough. He might give the order to start firing if he so much as thought that I was disrespecting him again. And I couldn’t let that happen. Not until I was sure that I could handle the situation.

"What is that?" I heard one of the humans behind me call out. They had apparently been looking at the sky, but it still wasn’t enough to make me look away from Orson.

"There’s something coming." The man that had been part of the anti supers group called out. "What is that thing?"

"Who is that?" What sounded like a teenage boy asked in amazement.

"Who? What do you mean who?" Someone asked in the distance.

"Well just look, it’s clearly a person. Someone is falling down here." He answered them.

"Falling? If they fall from that height, they will be splattered on the sidewalk. Did they fall out of a plane?"

"There was no plane. This is something else. Someone is coming here, and they are flying through the sky to do it."

"How though? What are they? Who are they?"

"I don’t know."

There were so many voices among the humans that were talking behind me, and I was listening to each and every one of them, but I still wouldn’t look up at what they were seeing. I didn’t want to let Orson have the chance to hurt anyone here on the ground. I had to protect everyone. I just had to.

"Here they come!" Someone nearly screamed. "They’re going to hit the ground."

"THEY’RE HUGE!"

"What are they!?" I was so tempted to look up, but I held firm.

"Trinity?" Reece called out to me, obviously looking at the person or thing that the people were talking about.

"What, Reece?" I asked him, not looking at him at all.

"You should look." I saw from my peripheral vision that he was watching the thing that was falling to the ground. I had just enough time to look up at the thing that people were talking about before it landed in front of me.

It hadn’t crash landed, that wasn’t the word for it. And it wasn’t a thing, it was a man. A very large man at that. And he was familiar to me as well.

"He is a God, one of many. His name is not to be known by you at this time though. He truly just wishes to go by his title. Now, onto why I am here."

"Yes, I think that we all need to know why you are here." I looked up at Odin, my hands naturally finding their position on my hips as my annoyance started to become clear. He had said that he was here to help, and all he had been doing was talking. Then again, he had managed to distract Orson for the time being.

"Yes, yes, no need to be upset with me, Trinity. I am showing my true self to these humans, or at least part of it. The excitement is understandable."

"It would be, if you weren’t the most excited one here." I wanted to laugh, but I didn’t dare.

"Ha ha ha. You got me." He turned back to look at me and then at Orson on his other side. "You, Sir, are the reason that I am here."

"Me?" Orson scoffed at him. "You, false deity, that thinks you can sway the people of earth, you think that I am the reason that you are here?"

"Ooh, you are quite infuriating." Odin glared at him. "I wonder how a human of your kind ends up this way. I know that you all still have that war and fighting urge inside of you, even in a time when you no longer need to fight for domain and food. You are modernized, but your brutality remains."

"We are not the brutes here!" Orson screamed at Odin. "They are. Those monsters that have infested our planet. They are the brutes. They want to destroy us all. They want to murder all the humans in the world."

"Bullshit!" Odin told him in a flat voice. "You have no idea what it is that you are talking about. Do you know how stupid you sound right now? How stupid you look?"

Odin wasn’t sugar coating things with Orson at the moment. He was telling him what it was that he thought with no uncertain terms. I just hoped that this wouldn’t send the maniac over the edge.

As I looked around the area, at the gathered humans and nonhumans alike, I saw that most people, even those on Orson’s side of the whole thing, were in awe of Odin. I didn’t blame them. They were literally looking at a God. And I wasn’t human, nor mortal. I might not be seeing him in the same way that they were. I could be less affected by them because of my own Goddess status.

It almost certainly felt that way as I looked at them all. These humans all seemed to be starstruck or something like that as they watched the man that was reprimanding Orson. I just hoped that whatever it was that Odin had in mind here, he was successful. I didn’t want the humans harmed, and I didn’t want this to turn into a full scale battle.

There would be too many casualties and too much destruction.

’Come on, Odin.’ I encouraged him inside of my mind. ’You can help me out here, I know that you can. You promised me after all. You said that you were going to help Reece and I deal with this situation. Wasn’t that why you had called us to that celestial plane that night? Well, here is your chance.

You could help me stop Orson. You can help me put things right in the world again.’

While I thought about these things, I wondered how the world at large was reacting to seeing a God on the news. One that actually looked like a God anyway, since they had already seen me several times before. I wondered if him being here would actually help in the long run, or if we were just going to have another issue to face once it was all done and over with.

I was getting so tired of all of this. All the fighting. All the animosity. All the hatred in the world. I wanted to have a life that was peaceful for me and my family. That was all that I ever truly wanted.

More than anything else in life, I wanted to make sure that my family was safe and well cared for.

If we could take care of this situation, and if there were no new issues that came from it all, we might see peace with the humans for the first time in super natural history. We might be able to see a world where no one had to hide who they were. A world where there was acceptance all around.

And think about it even further than that. If the nonhumans could be accepted, what would that mean for the racial issues still plaguing the world, especially our own country? Acceptance of this kind could lead to so much more in the future.

’Come on, Odin.’ I encouraged him mentally again. I needed him to succeed. I needed him to help me here, so that the peace that I and so many other people have dreamt of would come to fruition. ’Come on and help me here, Odin, please.’ I was begging him mentally, and it was as if no time at all was passing in the real world. And yet, there was Odin, looking at me with knowing eyes. He had heard me.

It had been a prayer that he had heard, and he had agreed to help me. At least, I think that he had.
