Chapter 45 Mind Your Goddamn Business!

Light Magic, a Holy Magic User here?!

He recognized it at her glow. It was as if a golden aura surrounded her in permanence… even while she was just standing there looking down on the other Adventurers!

She had the appearance of a cleric… outfitted for battle. On the slender side, she seemed to prioritize smiting her enemies with swift and deadly justice.

"The Sparkling Blade?! Isn't she C-Rank?!"

"Yes, never mess with her, for sure!"

"W-what is she even doing here?!"

She was already moving closer to the wall, inspecting the newly arrived Iron-Tier Mission. That's when she snorted once more.

"All of you talking about profit, but there's a Child's life on the line here! You snakes should be ashamed of yourselves! I'll be taking this Mission instead! "

'Please don't…'

She swaggered toward the Mission-Taking Counter.

Instantly, the receptionist's face lit up with shock. Whoever had posted that Escort mission had lucked out for sure! After all, he was getting a C-Rank Adventurer for free!

Jack's Request Token was already burning in his hand while everyone else was giving up on the Mission. After all, they couldn't beat a C-Rank!

Did this mean that he'd be stuck with her?!

But just as he was about to despair, that's when a Rat-Looking man rushed inside the Adventurer's guild, straight to the counter!

"I'll take the Fortuna Mission!" He screamed, a cloud of alcohol coming out of his mouth. This guy didn't just smell like a drunk; he looked like one too!

How long had it been since he last showered? Not only was his gear a mess, but he also had a look that screamed 'desperate' in his eyes. Yet to Jack, he looked like a godsend!

"YES! He's perfect!"

[Ding! Received Two Mission Applications!]

[Option 1: Zoe, the Sparkling Blade! (C)]

[Option 2: Joe, the Drunkard (F)]

This guy freaking had Drunkard as a title?! What kind of shitty life did he lead to get to this point? But that was beside the point…

Jack could even click on their "profiles" in the system to show their introductions. Was this all thanks to the Token in his hand? How freaking Awesome!

Joe: "PLEEAASSEEE. Give me a job! I won't let you down, Boss!"

Zoe: "I'll ensure no harm comes to the child EVER! I'll even train the little one to make sure he's ready to face the Fortuna Mountain! I'm not like those sweaty oafs! ^_^v"

The choice was freaking obvious! Jack spammed the Accept Joe button as if it owed him money! The Zoe girl would 100% act out if his baby self tried to order her around!

Even now, she was scolding the Drunkard.

"Useless man, what are you even doing here?! Do you really think anyone would ever pick your sorry ass over me? Shoo, shoo, get out! You're a disgrace to—"

She never finished her sentence.

[Your Mission Application Has Been Denied!]

WHHAAAAT?! How?! This didn't make any sense! How was she worse than that slime of a man?! But then she saw the note that came with the rejection.

[PS: A Mere C-Rank Bullying Others? Disgraceful!] Jack chuckled as he saw her break down in real time.

After all that talk, she had been denied?! More importantly, "mere C-Rank"… what was up with that?! One had to know even the Dawn Lords were B-Rank at best! This was CRAZY!

But as she had an existential crisis, Jack's disguised Fox had just given Joe the "package" he'd have to escort to Fortuna Mountain.

"B-Baby?! You can't possibly be serio—?!"

"Don't worry. He's stronger than he looks. Just do your job well, and you'll be rewarded. We'll be watching!" The Fox mysteriously warned before disappearing in a blur.

"S-so fast?! Oh god… what did I get myself into?!" Joe despaired as he suddenly came to his senses. What if this was all a ploy to murder some bigshot's heir using his hands?!

He should definitely tell someone, right? But whenever he thought to, he suddenly remembered the "we'll be watching line": it was already too late to back down.

"Sigh… I really hope we survive this, lil' baby."

Just like that, they were gone. As they crossed the gates, many brows were raised, but not of wariness. People simply pitied the baby with the obviously useless "father".

It was also the first time Jack saw the outside world in forever.

The vegetation was definitely lusher here than it had been on Earth, the Mana filling the air making it a paradise for Magical Beasts.

"Lil' Baby, see this far in the distance? It's Fortuna Mountain. Legend says that this area used to be flat, but the Fate Worshipers built a Mountain to be closer to Heaven."

Built a Mountain? That sure sounded fantastical… but it could be true in this world. Perhaps one day he'd be able to with his new Evil Godly Body, right?

Not only did Joe act as the perfect guide, but he was surprisingly very diligent at his job. Before every step, he'd check the surroundings to ensure everything was safe.

"Remember this, baby. In the wild, what matters isn't power… but cautiousness and luck! You need to get the fuck out of bandits' or monsters' path."

Jack completely agreed with this.

Thanks to Joe, it seemed like they'd reach the target without any issues. But just as they were reaching the foot of the mountain…

A golden glow suddenly manifested behind them!

Then in a matter of seconds, it had caught up to them. The Zoe girl stood in their way, blocking them. "I finally found you! I came to apologize and— WHAT?!"

But then she saw Jack, her tone turning chilly enough to freeze ice. "You, what are you doing with this baby?! You're not throwing him in there, right?"

This was a death sentence! There was no way she'd ever let this happen! She'd not only rescue the baby but would also report both the bastard and the kid's parents!

"Don't worry, child, I'll save you!"

'But I don't need saving….'

Jack felt like crying. Why were there such busybodies in the world? Now he had to convince her somehow to leave him the F alone… how?!
