"It's not actually that bad."
Jack sighed in relief once he heard everything.
This Evil God Body skill could be compared to a Monster Pet. As long as he fed it regularly, there wouldn't be any issue. It's only if he forgot it that he would end up devoured.
As for feeding it, he had multiple choices. Either he could train and feed it his own Power, or he could feed it Items containing Mana.
Thus Jack quickly regained his composure, but that wasn't the case for everyone involved. At this moment, heavy sobbing came from his side, Aisha's warm hand landing on him.
"You poor thing! This is so sad!"
"I really am fine. It's not that big a deal…."
If anything, he was more pissed at the Ghost for revealing himself to her in his panic. Thanks to that, Aisha had entered full-on "sympathy" mode.
"You don't have to act tough. Take all the Artifacts you need to cure your affliction, and I'll explain everything to my father!" She had the look of an angel.
Was this the same girl who had been calling him villain left and right the first time he had come to her house? By now, she was even suggesting escorting him back home to rest.
"S-sure…"
Jack gave up on clearing the misunderstanding, leaving the Henderson Estate with his army of foxes. Back at the Flame Mansion, he was welcomed by the Flame Lord.
"How was it, Jack? Did you have fun?"
"Yes!" Perhaps he had a little bit too much fun even. Seeing how happy he looked, the Flame Lord left, satisfied. As soon as she did, Jack went to his room, undressing instantly.
Poof! He suddenly grew up, reverting to his adult appearance! He was looking for any visible change… only to freeze, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
In the mirror, his body was way more chiseled than it had been. One could even see his eight packs in all their splendor. Yes, eight, not six.
"What kind of level up is this?! Am I even human…"
"Pfft— Don't worry, kid. This ought to be temporary! Transformation abilities often show weird stuff after a level-up. It's just the time your body takes to adjust itself, is all."
He tested Power, Speed, Resilience, and everything else he could think of, but in the end, there was but one thing that had increased… the transformation's duration.
A few minutes —> Half an hour!
At this moment, he didn't regret learning this skill one bit. So what if it would cause trouble down the line? It allowed him to be himself again! (almost)
He'd take suffering rather than being stuck in a baby's body 24/7, every day! He could already think of something fun to do with this body, feeling mischievous.
"My trusty minions, fetch me some clothes!"
"Woo!" (Right away, Master!)
Before long, he was ready to go, wearing the most normal pants and an even simpler shirt. He was ready to mix with the crowds of Dawn City!
Thus he departed… alone!
"Woo?!" (What?! You're leaving us, Master?!)
"Pfft— No need for the puppy eyes. I'll be back right away."
He departed with a pep in his steps.
For the first time ever, he neither had to hide nor was he directly in the spotlight. Suddenly, he had become an Extra Character in the city, one no one would care about. It felt so peaceful…
If anything, a few showed wry smiles seeing how happy and optimistic he looked. Thus he navigated the streets, heading for a shop he was very familiar with.
| Lizzy's Lustful Emporium! |
As soon as he pushed the door, he was welcomed by the deep smell of herbs and magical catalysts. It felt like he was in a mystical forest filled with wonders… instead of the usual fox fur odor.
"I'll be with you shortly! I'm finishing up a potion."
Lizzy called from the other room. Jack chuckled as he patiently waited. Then as soon as she entered the room, he waved at her.
"Hey there! I'm looking for something very specific. Would you happen to have perfumes that charm people and puts them in a great mood without them noticing?"
He might as well ask for the Flaming Masquerade while he was at it. But just as Lizzy was about to reply, she froze. There was definitely something wrong with this guy!
As soon as she had seen him, she had felt her heart beating and could sense an incredible sense of familiarity in those blue eyes of his. What kind of déjà vu was this?
Still, how was that possible? The only people she had hung out with recently were all foxes and a baby who— Wait… What the actual fuck?!
"T-this… how?! I-It's you?! You're him?!"
This was so baffling, yet this look suited him so much! At this moment, she seriously questioned if there was anything in this world that he couldn't do. Yet, he was perplexed.
"How did you figure it out? I barely said anything, right?"
"Scoff! You're the only one with a gaze that scheming in the entirety of Eternia! It wasn't hard to figure out!" She retorted, the sharpness of a Genius Alchemist showing.
This actually made sense.
It didn't take long for them to discuss Jack's future plans. This time, he had one hell of a job for her, one that would make any Alchemist jump out of their boots.
"What?! You want me to take care of the Flaming Masquerade, ME?!" This wasn't just a promotion but a straight-up money-printing opportunity!
"Yep! That's exactly it! We'll need…."
The more he shared with her, the paler she became. Did he want to use restricted drugs at the party? Right next to the Dawn Lords, to boot! "Are you insane?!" She cried out.
"Yes, but you knew that, right Lizzy?" he teasingly winked.
"F-fine, but we're doing this my way!" She insisted.
"Great! Now, there's something else I need."
Just as she expected another illegal thing, he took her by complete surprise. "I need vision training and lots of XP. Where can I find those?
"Hmmm. Have you tried the Appraisal Guild? You can probably find a competent one at their Myriad Treasure Pavilion. As for the XP, outside the city is your best bet."
Oh? There was appraisal in this place?! How cool! "I wonder if they'll be able to Appraise this book", Jack chuckled as he brandished the Ghost's vessel, the latter turning fearful and restless.
"Y-you can't!"
"Pfft— Kidding, just kidding, relax." Why did he sound like a shy maiden? So much for a 500-year-old Ghostly Archmage...
