1183 Kept A Secret From Him!
Wang Teng stood outside his lodging and stared at Olivia. He furrowed his brows.
Why was this lady here?
Had she not given up?
This was his first thought. But when he heard her agitated cries, his expression changed. “What do you mean? Di Qi is in danger?”
“Nevermind, come in first.” Wang Teng pulled Olivia into his room and closed the door. He stared at her sternly and asked, “Are you lying?”
“Why would I lie to you? Our family has a special communication method. When our lives are at risk, a message will be sent to the nearest family member. I received Cousin Di Qi’s message the moment I woke up this morning,” Olivia replied like a machine gun. She was panicking.
Wang Teng looked at Olivia and felt that she wouldn’t lie to him about such matters. Moreover, she didn’t seem to be acting.
“Wang Teng, I can only ask you for help. My family members won’t be able to rush here in time. Cousin Di Qi might not come back if we don’t act fast enough. This communication method is only used at the final crucial moment,” Olivia said anxiously.
“Don’t panic.” Wang Teng reminded her. “Ask your family to contact the higher authorities in the military. They will send martial warriors to save your cousin. I can’t do it alone.”
“My family has already contacted them. However, I trust you more,” Olivia replied.
“Wait for me here. I’ll ask General Cameron what mission he gave to Di Qi.” Wang Teng wouldn’t fold his arms and look on. He told Olivia to stay still and left to find General Cameron.
…
After some time, Wang Teng arrived outside General Cameron’s office. He strode straight in.
“Major Wang Teng, are you looking for General Cameron?” General Cameron’s adjutant knew Wang Teng, so he got up to welcome him.
“I have urgent business to discuss with General Cameron.” Wang Teng walked toward the door.
“Major Wang Teng, wait. General Cameron is meeting someone. You can’t go in. I need to report your arrival first.” The adjutant stopped him hurriedly.
“Move. I don’t have time to wait for you to report.” Wang Teng pushed his palm out, moving the adjutant back. He wasn’t injured. He was just pushed aside so that Wang Teng could pass through.
The adjutant’s expression changed. He was astounded.
Major Wang Teng was powerful.
Mind you, he was a cosmos-stage martial warrior while Wang Teng was a celestial-stage martial warrior. Yet, he was knocked back with a single attack. No wonder General Cameron had high hopes for him.
Wang Teng didn’t care what the adjutant felt. He pushed open General Cameron’s door instantly.
General Cameron was really meeting someone in his office.
When Wang Teng appeared, both parties looked at him.
“Wendell! Why is he here?” Wang Teng was stunned when he saw the person sitting opposite General Cameron.
“General, I didn’t manage to stop Major Wang Teng. Please punish me,” the adjutant stepped forward and said nervously.
“Nevermind, you can leave first.” General Cameron waved his hand. “Major Wang Teng, come in.”
“Hmph, as expected of a martial warrior from a remote planet. You have no manners at all.” Wendell scorned.
General Cameron blinked. He knew Wang Teng’s background as well as his grudges against the Parkers. Hence, he wasn’t surprised.
Wang Teng didn’t even glance at Wendell. “General Cameron, can you send him away? I have something to ask you about.”
Wendell’s face turned black. This bastard ignored him completely.
He was here first, but he wanted to chase him out? This was too much.
He wanted to speak, but General Cameron interrupted him. “Major Wang Teng, I know your purpose here. You came for Colonel Di Qi, right?”
“Yes.” Wang Teng was surprised. He glanced at Wendell and nodded. Since the general had spoken about this matter, there was no need to hide it from Wendell.
“I called Colonel Wendell over for the same issue. Since you’re here, sit down and let’s discuss it together,” General Cameron said.
“General Cameron, pardon me for being direct. Based on what I know, most of Major Wang Teng’s team was injured during his first mission. I have a reason to doubt his ability. It’s not appropriate to share this mission with him,” Wendell said.
Wang Teng was staggered. Then, he stared at Wendell strangely.
This fellow was asking for it. General Cameron had inside information, yet Wendell defamed him in front of the general.
“Cough!” General Cameron’s gaze turned weird too. He coughed awkwardly and said, “Colonel Wendell, I know Major Wang Teng’s ability clearly. It’s appropriate to share this issue with him.”
Wendell was stunned.
General Cameron’s attitude wasn’t right.
Wang Teng didn’t complete his first mission properly. Why did General Cameron speak up for him?
Did they make a secret deal?
Multiple thoughts flashed across his mind. Wendell had a worse impression of Wang Teng.
“General Cameron, the issue is urgent, so I will go straight to the point. What’s Di Qi’s mission?” Wang Teng asked.
General Cameron turned serious and replied, “This is a long story, but I’ll summarize it. We received news that a large number of dark apparition activities had been detected at the fifth frontline. However, the dark apparitions only appeared for a moment and disappeared after that. No one can find their whereabouts, so I sent Di Qi’s team to investigate this issue. I didn’t think he will be in life danger. There must be something going on.”
“A large number of dark apparition activities?” Wang Teng frowned. “Do you know what type of dark apparitions they are?”
“No.” General Cameron shook his head.
“Since it’s a large-scale activity, they won’t vanish the moment they appear, right?”
“What do you mean?”
“Could it be some special dark apparition’s race?” Wang Teng guessed.
“You might be right.” General Cameron nodded. “However, the appearance of sp many dark apparitions comes with a black mist. This time, they hid in their black mist too, so we had a hard time recognizing their race.”
Wang Teng went into deep thought. After some time, he said, “Either way, we need to save him first. Let me investigate this matter.”
“General Cameron has given me this task,” Wendell said coldly.
“Let’s investigate on our own then,” Wang Teng frowned and replied.
“Hmph, with your ability, you’ll definitely interfere in my investigation. If something happens, whose responsibility will it be?” Wendell scoffed.
“You might be the one giving me trouble,” Wang Teng said calmly.
“What a joke!” Wendell acted as if he had heard a funny joke.
“Alright, stop arguing. I’ll let the two of you handle this issue. I hope you’ll put aside your grudges for this mission. I only want results,” General Cameron reprimanded them sternly.
Wendell was still unconvinced, but General Cameron had made his decision. He could only shut his mouth.
“I have no problem with that,” Wang Teng replied.
“Alright, go ahead then.” General Cameron waved his hand.
“General Cameron, can I speak to you in private?” Wang Teng suddenly asked.
“Huh?” General Cameron was stunned for a second. Then, he nodded and said, “Colonel Wendell, you can leave first.”
Wendell: …
They were keeping a secret from him?
He felt like an outsider.
Why?
Why could a newbie who just came to the No. 29 Defense Planet and completed only one mission gain General Cameron’s favor?
He had been working hard for many years, but he felt that he wasn’t as well-liked as Wang Teng.
Infuriating!
Damn it!
Wendell glared at Wendell bitterly as he walked out of General Cameron’s office.
Wang Teng looked at him strangely. He felt that this fellow had the potential to be an aggrieved woman confined at home. His gaze…
“Alright, what do you want to say?” General Cameron asked.
“General Cameron, do you think the dark apparitions’ strange actions have anything to do with the devil ovum?”
“What do you mean?” General Cameron’s expression changed.
“I feel that we should investigate the dark apparitions’ movement on all the frontlines on this planet,” Wang Teng suggested.
“I’ll consider your suggestion seriously.” General Cameron understood Wang Teng’s concern. He nodded grimly.
Wang Teng left the room.
