“Woof! Woof! Woof!”
Qin Sijue’s movement to get into the car came to a halt, and even Luo Chen felt that this barking sound was unusual.
Looking towards the sound, they could not see Mengqi, and the barking was coming from inside the house.
Qin Sijue stood beside the car, his deep eyes staring intently at the Gu Family villa.
“Mr. Qin, it seems something has happened inside,” Luo Chen spoke up.
“You understand?”
Qin Sijue turned his gaze, looking at Luo Chen with utter disdain.
Luo Chen paused, knowing that his question was obviously intentional.
“Destroy this door.”
“You want to break into a private home?” Luo Chen asked, surprised.
Qin Sijue turned his cold gaze, “Do you have an objection?”
Luo Chen: “…No!”
Turning around, Luo Chen took out a silenced pistol, aimed at the villa’s door lock and with a ‘biu’ sound, he holstered his weapon, walked to the door and pushed. It opened.
“Mr. Qin, please.”
Inside the living room, seeing his daughter lying on the ground, Gu Zhendong was panic-stricken.
He looked up at Chen Peifang, who was still standing nearby, “What are you standing there for? Call an ambulance immediately!”
He did indeed favor sons over daughters, but this was after all his own flesh and blood; naturally, he couldn’t remain apathetic.
“Qiangwei, how do you feel?”
Her forehead was already wrapped in a bandage. With the tumble she took, fresh blood soaked through the gauze, creating a vivid red stain.
“Hiss…”
Just then, Gu Qiangwei suddenly regained consciousness, the pain throughout her body causing her eyebrows to furrow tightly.
“Qiangwei?”
Seeing his daughter awake, Gu Zhendong finally sighed in relief, his burden lifted.
“Sis, how do you feel?”
At that moment, Gu Shijie also came over.
Hearing that nauseating ‘Sis’, Gu Qiangwei opened her eyes to see her father and Gu Shijie’s face.
“Get lost!”
She struggled to get up, unwilling to let Gu Shijie touch even an inch of her body.
“Qiangwei, you’ve been hurt. Dad will take you to the hospital.”
Seeing her struggle to get up, Gu Zhendong worried.
“No need.”
She pushed away her father’s support, her heart cold as ice.
Staggering and braving the pain throughout her body, she dragged her suitcase towards the entrance. Gu Zhendong didn’t understand what she was doing.
“Qiangwei, what are you planning to do?”
Gu Qiangwei clutched the handle of her suitcase tightly, her vision blurred by tears.
“If you had asked that question to my mom ten years ago, would she… still be in this house?”
Her words made Gu Zhendong freeze, but ultimately he remained silent.
And to Gu Qiangwei, his silence was nothing but callous indifference.
Dragging her weary body, she took step after step towards the door. The pain was severe, particularly in her ankle, causing her to break out in a cold sweat from the agony.
In the end, unable to support herself, she felt her legs give out, and she collapsed.
But just as she thought she was about to hit the ground, suddenly a strong hand caught her arm.
“Woof woof woof!”
It wasn’t until then that Gu Qiangwei heard Mengqi’s voice.
Mengqi was at home?
Looking up again, she met a pair of deep, dark eyes; profound as the night, inscrutable.
The man’s gaze, upon seeing her disheveled appearance and especially the wound on her forehead, darkened notably, emitting a cold light.
“What happened to you?”
Why is he here?
Gu Qiangwei was just as confused by his presence.
But before she had the chance to respond to his question, her strength gave out. She lost consciousness the next second, vision darkening as she collapsed into his arms.
