She wanted to strangle somebody, preferably Mo Qingchen. Part of her mind was inclined to call the site she was browsing on and ask them to remove her from the rankings. But as she thought closely, she abandoned the idea. The more she tried to suppress the voices, the louder they would become.
God knows what theories they would come up with in the future. She was not ready to find out.
A small smile played on her lips as she realized that Mo Qingchen would be equally frustrated when he sees the news. Wouldn't he be fuming? She couldn't help but let out an evil laugh.
Li Min looked at her boss with a weird expression. With her quirky personality, it was impossible to figure out what she was thinking... as long as it didn't affect her business. Otherwise, one thing was clear, she went for the kill and only thought about growing her company and making money. There was a traffic jam on the way back, so the process was slow. She received calls from her father and Politician Han as well.
Knowing that the round table hadn't gone too well, she didn't want to pick up their calls and ruin her day. She could deal with them after the day was over.
But as luck would have it, Li Min's phone started to ring. On the screen was Yun Qian Meng's father's name. Sighing, Qian Meng asked her secretary to pick the call up.
"Mr. President," she greeted.
"Where is Qian Meng?" Her father's voice boomed with fury. Qian Meng looked out of the window, feeling lethargic. She couldn't be faulted for the way things turned out. With Su Jin and Mo QIngchen on one side, she had been fighting tooth and nail to put her point across. Moreover, she wasn't given a lot of chances to retaliate.
"Miss Yun is currently busy," Li Min informed politely. Qian Meng turned to look at her faithful secretary, feeling a smile ghost on her lips. Ah, this was why she loved her. Li Min just knew when she needed to cover for her boss.
"I know she is listening to this call. Get her to talk," Yun Sui Bo seethed. There was silence on their end before Qian Meng spoke up.
"What is it that you wish to speak about?" she asked in a bored manner. No point in letting her father have a higher power in the conversation.
"Watch your tone! I sent you there to promote our propaganda and you..." he trailed off. He sucked in a deep breath to calm himself. Qian Meng rolled her eyes as she waited for the insults to follow. "You just went ahead and ruined it, talking about unrelated matters. You had one job!"
She was done with the conversation. "Father, I defended your company and made sure all the messaging was passed on to the audience despite being forced to participate. If you think you could have done better, please do these interviews on your own from now on." Her tone was firm without any weakness.
Qian Meng signaled Li Min to disconnect, which the other did without question. She knew that her phone would blow up with messages from her father soon. Qian Meng thought about how much time her father had.
If he put more effort into his business and not pester her, he would strengthen his empire and build a better future for it. He wouldn't have needed to sell off his daughter to do so.
For the first time in her life, she looked at her father as an incompetent man. How could one man neglect his family to do everything and still be so bad at what he did? Sure, he had made a fortune, but nowhere near what he could have made. The distance between Yun Corporation and Mo Building Solutions was widening and it didn't look good.
Now that she thought about it, maybe her father had reached the age where he was going senile. That was a possibility.
The car pulled up in front of their office building and Qian Meng slung her purse over her shoulder. As she slipped out, she saw a fancy looking car stop in front of the building on the opposite side. She had been gazing at it with indifference until the familiar burgundy suit emerged. Well, the man who wore it was obviously present as well. She squinted her eyes to make sure that she was seeing correctly.
"You!" she hissed, obviously, her voice didn't carry over. But the man on the other side of the wide road turned at that exact moment. He could barely see her expression but he knew she was furious.
"She found out, finally," he said lightheartedly and walked into the building opposite to hers.
She was fuming. "Why the fuck did he go inside that building? Wasn't it a common office building for multiple companies?" She hoped that he was there to sign a contract. But he parked right in front like he owned the place. Usually, the parking space was meant for employees only.
"The QC headquarters shifted to this location last month. We found out a couple of weeks ago," Li Min said apologetically. Usually, her boss avoided talking about Mo Qingchen because it ruined her day. Still, she made sure to look at how much he earned every day in comparison to her.
"And you didn't tell me?" she glared at her secretary.
"I tried to tell you but you told me... and I quote, 'I don't care if he goes to hell.' And you seemed angry throughout the staff meeting after that." Therefore she hadn't brought up the subject later.
Qian Meng's lips twitched. Well, it did sound like her. But this information. She was basically living with the enemy at this point. She didn't know how to feel about this situation. All happiness from the thought that he would be upset that they were being shipped together flew out.
