"What? Acting like a damsel in distress now?" she scoffed. "Just you wait!" She chuckled slowly as she saw the horror in his eyes. "You have not eaten anything. Therefore, I am going o feed you until you can no longer eat."
Mo Qingchen raised his brow and said not a word. It was a clear declaration of war.
Qian Meng clenched her teeth and bent over him to grab the plate of cake. She scooped a little segment and tauntingly hovered it in front of his face.
Mo Qingchen smirked and kept his lips tightly shut. "Aren't you getting a little too comfortable with this?" he retorted. Qian Meng took the opportunity to shove the spoon between his teeth.
Mo Qingchen's eyes widened and she saw a flash of anger in them.
"Eat," she commanded.
He reigned in his anger and opened his mouth again to take the bite she was offering. He silently stared at her sly grin and fed him spoon after spoon until no crumbs were left on the plate.
"Sorry, maybe I should have cut larger bite sizes. You must still be hungry," she smirked.
"I dare you to feed me the crap food on this plane," he challenged.
"Please, do you think I won't try?" Challenge accepted.
"I won't go down without a fight," Mo Qingchen taunted. She rolled her eyes as she saw the expression of disgust on his face. The grimace was prominent and she said nothing as she called Yin Ah and asked her to bring over some snacks for them to much on.
Yin Ah stared between the two and looked trepid before she turned away and scurried off towards the front of the plane. As soon as she disappeared behind the curtain, Mo Qingchen turned to her with a wicked look of amusement.
"I'll buy you a dress for the Mayor's anniversary party if you make me eat the thing."
"No need. You aroused my competitive side. It won't rest until I have won. I don't need a dress as compensation for winning."
There was another bout of turbulence and it pushed her back into her seat. She looked out of the window and saw the thunder cracking beneath them in the clouds and wanted to paste her face against the window but refrained.
Her eyes remained firmly locked on the tiny gateway to the sky. The view was breathtakingly beautiful… haunting even. The sun was visible on the horizon despite the black clouds that swelled beneath them.
"Look!" she exclaimed, poking Mo Qingchen without taking her eyes from the window. "It's so beautiful."
"It is," he agreed.
When she turned to look back at him, he had taken a document and was scanning it intently, brow furrowed deep in concentration.
"Do you ever relax?" she asked, frowning at him.
He looked up after a few moments. "Not if I can help it."
"You are impossible," she groaned in frustration. "What do you do for fun?"
"Work," he stated before returning his attention to the document.
"When was your last vacation?"
"I don't take vacations," he replied without looking up.
She peeked over his shoulder, wondering what the hell was so damn interesting. It was a contract and the prospect of making money was fun… but at all hours of the day?
"There is a new term called 'bleisure,' I am sure you have heard of it," she said softly. From the corner of her eye, she saw Yin Ah walk towards them. She placed a platter of food in front of them and a bottle of wine.
Qian Meng quirked her brow questioningly but didn't protest. Mo Qingchen remained in his position, engrossed in his work.
As she popped the cork on the bottle, his eyes rose up instantly, taking in the scene before him.
"Break time," she smiled invitingly. "I will do good on my promise to feed you."
He lowered the document to his lap. "Always so eager to feed me." The grin on his face was lethal.
"If I remember correctly, it was you who was eager to feed me and raise my standards," she replied smugly.
"True," he nodded. "Mango?" Somehow, he managed to make the word sound sexy.
"Do you want it?" she sliced off a small piece and brought it to her lips as he watched.
"I do," he said with such intensity that Qian Meng forgot that she had already won the challenge before she even tried. She had a feeling he wasn't talking about fruit.
"Then put your work away and take a break." She sliced another piece and slowly held it out of his reach as she glanced down at the document in his lap disapprovingly.
"No." His eyes seared into hers.
"Put away the work," she directed, equally commanding, losing herself in the fight.
Their stare was locked and his heart beating faster than the plane was traveling and then without looking away, he did it. He pushed the document away. Something so small, yet it felt huge to Yun Qian Meng.
Mo Qingchen could compromise. Regularly.
Before he could blink, her fingertips were at his mouth. His lips parted, giving her a slight glimpse of his tongue. She suddenly remembered the taste of his mouth and wondered if it would taste just as amazing if she leaned in right then.
Instead, she placed the tiny piece of fruit between his lips and watched as he sucked it in, swallowing it whole.
Yin Ah was right.
'I am a slut,' Yun Qian Meng admitted to herself.
Based on the wicked thoughts she was having about the man she swore she hated, she was just that. To be honest, she wasn't even trying. His intensity drew her in. The danger, always present, was irresistible to the masochist in her.
"More." His firm command broke her out of her thoughts.
