A mail came and he looked at the title. His eyes widened and he almost dropped his phone in shock.
These pesky investors and executives… just because they had some equity, they thought they could discard him?
He opened the email and screamed in frustration.
Proposal to Remove Director Bai From His Post.
Were they trying to be funny? He would like to see how many people had the courage to go along with this. He was the person who would control the company once his dad passed away, how could they say such a thing?
And then a thought passed his mind. What if… what if it was his father's plan all along? What if his father wanted to remove him from the position and was using someone else's hand to do the dirty deed?
He wouldn't put it past the man.
All his life, he had showered his love for the older brother. He had barely spent time with Bai Ye Qing and seemed to avoid conversations altogether. A family man? What a joke. Clearly, he was picking and choosing whom he wanted as family members.
Bai Ye Qing wasn't the brightest child but when he got into the company, he had been happy. And now… and now he knew that everyone knew he hadn't entered by his own merit. His family had put him in those positions and they didn't even think he deserved them.
He clenched his fists together.
If they removed him… wouldn't it mean he would have no claim to the company shares in the future? What would that mean for his future? Would he be scrambling and begging to get the money?
No. He would never let that happen. Not in a million years.
He scrolled through his contacts and pressed on the group where all the women he was dating or pursuing were kept. Names? Monday plus Insert Name, continuing on to Sunday.
Yun Qian Meng had the privilege of having her name written as a standalone. Not even Jia Ai had this privilege. If Qian Meng knew of this, she would blissfully ignore it, and thank god she would not cross his shadow for the rest of her life.
He pressed the call button. It rang until the operator told him she was not answering at the moment. He called again. And again. It was about the seventieth call, the call connected.
"You've finally picked up, bitch?" he said without restraint.
There was silence from the other side.
"What? You're not going to speak now? Might as well do it now that you have picked up the phone," he called her out.
"Don't call again." And the phone clicked. Bai Ye Qing pulled the phone away and stared at the name on the screen. He had called Yun Qian Meng, he was sure of that. But a man had picked the phone up.
It was past midnight and the lack of sound around them said that Yun Qian Meng was indoors and with a man.
Bai Ye Qing felt a devious smile spread across his face. He burst out into laughter.
How dare she call him a cheater in front of the world, when she was hooking up with a man? Her high and mighty persona and the pure image she wanted to show would be crumbled in no time.
On the other side of the city, Yun Qian Meng was driving Mo Qingchen's car. Mo Qingchen had remained silent for the ride until Yun Qian Meng's phone started to blow up.
He glanced at the phone resting on the cup holder between them. The phone stopped buzzing and Mo Qingchen saw that seventy-three calls from the number had been made to Yun Qian Meng.
"Who is calling you so many times?" he asked suspiciously.
Qian Meng looked confused for a second. He glanced briefly at the phone and her brows scrunched. "It should be Bai Ye Qing," she responded casually.
"I thought you were done with that scumbag," Mo Qingchen said with a hint of coldness.
"I am done with him. I promised Mr. Bai I wouldn't ruin Bai Ye Qing's life, so I decided to humiliate him publicly. Enough that no one will marry him or employ him after his father kicks him out of the company."
The red light turned on and Qian Meng slowed down to a stop. "Aren't you happy with that result?" Qian Meng asked with a smile.
"I know you don't want my help so I won't offer it," he began. "But I don't think this is enough. Your contract states that he should never contact you again but he is doing it."
"What do you want me to do? Ask for remuneration for breaking the agreement?" Qian Meng joked.
"Why not?" he asked dubiously.
Qian Meng rolled her eyes. "I don't want to waste any more money on him. He has no power any longer. I have effectively taken everything away. If he doesn't have money, those girls might not stay with him. And if they do, I wish them luck for their future. He will have enough money to eat but never enough power to go up against me again."
Mo Qingchen sighed. "If you do not crush your enemy completely, they will consolidate their forces and come back to destroy you," he whispered.
Qian Meng blinked. "I only said I won't expose his criminal activities," she said softly. "I never said no one else would," she added slyly.
Mo Qingchen turned to her with surprise. "You made the promise to Bai Yu and you are going to break it?"
Yun Qian Meng shook her head. "It's called equivocation. I respect him enough to not let the world know his son turned out to be a criminal and a murderer, but Bai Ye Qing should still pay for the crimes he has committed." She stared blankly at the street.
"He killed someone?" Mo Qingchen asked, scrutinizing her expression.
"I don't know for sure. There was something off about how his elder brother died. But it's not my job to figure it out. I'll leave it to the police."
