Officers, fully armed and ready to shoot entered the room. There was screaming.
Someone dropped down beside Bai Yu and asked him if he was okay.
"He injected it," Bai Yu said quietly. Maybe it was shock, maybe he didn't care much for what happened, but he didn't look like someone had tried to kill him.
"You told on me?" Bai Ye Qing screamed.
"You have a right to remain silent," the officer holding him down said. His rights were read but Bai Ye Qing swore and struggled as he was led out.
The door of the master bedroom opened. Chen Yue emerged from it, wide-eyed and scared that someone had broken in. "Who are all of you?" she shouted.
She had no weapon to speak of.
"Ma'am we are from the City Police. Please move aside," they said in a polite but firm voice.
His eyes searched through the faces and found one who had interviewed her. "What are you doing? Let my son go!" She barrelled forward, pounding into the man.
He was taken by surprise and almost stumbled back. He sighed but knew that he had to follow protocol. He already believed that Chen Yue knew a lot more than she had let on. She had even tried to help Bai Ye Qing when Bai Yu questioned him earlier in the day.
"Ma'am, I will have to charge you on assaulting an agent of the state," he said calmly.
She screamed, calling for a lawyer. Calling for Bai Yu. Instead of seeing Bai Yu come out on his own two feet, she saw two paramedics rush into the room. As she was cuffed and dragged forward, she struggled and looked over her shoulder.
No one was telling her what happened and she was cuffed.
"Why are you doing this to us? What has our family done to you?" she screamed.
No one responded.
Finally, she saw the paramedics carrying out her husband in a stretcher. The officers moved aside, making way for the paramedics to take the now somewhat drowsy Bai Yu out.
"What is wrong with him?" Chen Yue asked.
No response.
"The paramedics are taking him to the nearest hospital. We will call his medical guardian shortly," the officer said calmly, feeling like he was supposed to give some information to the family.
Bai Ye Qing remained eerily silent.
"What medical guardian? I am his wife. Of course, I should go with him. Let me go!" She threw her body back, banging into the officer.
"Ma'am if you move too much, we will need to charge you with evading arrest, as well. Please calm down," someone else said.
She wasn't one to listen. "Ye Qing, what is happening? What is happening?" she shouted.
The ambulance had arrived in record time and Bai Ye Qing and Chen Yue both heard people talking on their walkie-talkies.
They had cleared up traffic. Man in late fifties had been given a lethal dose of muscle relaxant. The medicine was causing muscle spasms. Hospital personnel were to be prepared for the patient to come in.
Chen Yue realized something in that moment. She turned to see her son being pushed into the waiting police car. There was clarity.
Her son had tried to kill her husband. How could that be? He wasn't a violent or bad child. He would never do something of this sort. It must have been planted. She remembered Bai Yu staying with the police for longer than her and him asking Bai Ye Qing to come for lunch and it clicked in her mind.
"A trap," she whispered.
To her, Bai Ye Qing could do no wrong. Even when she had seen the man she had shared a bed with taken out of their house in a stretcher, she didn't believe it.
It had to be everyone else's fault.
And she couldn't ask Bai Ye Qing what had happened. The police had separated them and put them in different cars.
Finally, the sage advice came back to her. Don't talk to the police without an attorney present. So, she quietened down and steeled her heart. No matter what happened, she wouldn't allow these people to ruin Bai Ye Qing. The poor child did not deserve this treatment.

Yun Qian Meng and Mo Qingchen slept peacefully in their house, without any knowledge of what was happening. Despite being scared of Bai Ye Qing attacking her, the presence of Mo Qingchen and the extensive security team had helped her fall asleep.
In the dead of the night, her cellphone rang loudly. Qian Meng shuddered as she looked around the room in panic.
Even Mo Qingchen seemed to stir from his sleep. "What is it?" he whispered, his voice still groggy.
"Phone," she grumbled before reaching out for it. She looked at the screen to see that it was an unknown number. She pressed her phone to her ear. "Yun Qian Meng speaking," she said calmly.
"Miss Yun, I am the officer who spoke to you this morning. Mr. Bai is being taken to the hospital right now. He is not in a state to sign for his treatment. We need you to come to the hospital and sign the papers for his procedure."
Yun Qian Meng startled awake. Any sign of sleep remnant in her body flew out. She sprang up to sit on the bed, her mind blank.
"What happened?" she cried out.
"Mr. Bai was attacked during the operation. We got to him on time and apprehended Bai Ye Qing, but Mr. Bai was slowly losing consciousness. He is being taken to the hospital already. They have everything prepared," the officer said.
Yun Qian Meng took a cleansing breath and hopped out of the bed. She sprinted to the closet and took out the first pair of clothes she could find.
"Please give me the name and address of the hospital. I will arrive shortly," she said quickly. "You may transfer my verbal consent on any emergency procedure required before I arrive." She paused. "I will trust you to pass on my words, officer."
