Chapter 442: Chapter 441 Report

The Immortal Realm, outside the Netherfire Hall.

The hall was in ruins, with rubble strewn all around. Explosions occasionally echoed from techniques left over from a civil war that the immortals fought nine thousand years ago.

Many immortals were killed before they could use their magic, and these techniques have persisted to this day, causing explosions now and then.

Countless Earth-Immortal-ranked monsters roamed outside, howling sounds without meaning, like cries of sorrow or laughter.

The Immortal Realm wasn’t just inhabited by immortals. In fact, the majority of its inhabitants were mortals, ranging from the Qi Cultivation Stage to the Transcendance Tribulation Stage.

Despite the abundance of immortals in the Immortal Realm, the realm is vast. On average, there were not many immortals, and Earth Immortals were incredibly rare in the Immortal Realm, able to flaunt their power as they pleased.

However, with the Heavenly Dao gaining sentience nine thousand years ago, all mortals died, and Earth Immortals fell into confusion, devouring each other and turning into grotesque monsters beyond comprehension.

The once high and mighty Earth Immortals were now no better than beasts.

Earth Immortals didn’t need to eat or drink and had no survival needs. Their aimless existence made them even more pathetic and pitiful.

Suddenly, the Earth Immortal monsters sensed a dangerous aura and scampered away in terror. The slower ones were stomped to death by an incoming figure.

“Filthy monsters, spoiling my shoes,” the Honghu Messenger said disgustingly as he looked at the Earth Immortal monster he crushed beneath his foot.

“Honghu Messenger, what is the meaning of this!” Roared Du Ye Messenger, whose assigned Earth Immortal monster had just been killed by the Honghu Messenger.

“Du Ye Messenger, control your subordinates. They can rummage for food, but they must not block my way.” The Honghu Messenger responded dismissively to Du Ye Messenger’s anger.

The actions of the Honghu Messenger didn’t surprise the other envoys. They too often killed a few Earth Immortal monsters for fun.

Now, Earth Immortal monsters are considered the lowest beings in the Immortal Realm. If not them, who else could they vent their frustrations on?

Moreover, the moment these Earth Immortals turned into monsters, their souls scattered. All that was left of them was rotten flesh; they were nothing more than walking corpses.

In their original form, Earth Immortals were able to resist the Heavenly Immortals futilely. But the transformed Earth Immortals, deprived of their divine skills, were now at the mercy of the Heavenly Immortals.

“Do you still consider yourself a righteous cultivator?”

“Righteous? I used to save people because I could earn merit. But now, saving people earns me no merit. Killing does. Is there still a need to differentiate between the righteous and the demonic?” The retort from Honghu Messenger surprised Du Ye Messenger, mocking his naivety.

“Righteousness is about peace of mind, not the pursuit of merit.”

The Honghu Messenger lazily replied, “Peace of mind? Well, I am at peace. So, I am indeed righteous.”

The tolling of the Immortal Bell signified the start of their meeting. Several tens of Heavenly Immortals gathered at the Netherfire Hall. Du Ye Messenger and Honghu Messenger ceased arguing.

In front of the Netherfire Hall stood a statue of the Respected God-hidden. The Heavenly Immortals bowed in respect.

“We respect the Respected God-hidden. We respect the Immortal Lord of the Netherfire.”

The Immortal Lord of the Netherfire appeared at the foot of the statue of the Respected God-hidden and bowed to him.

“Come in.”

The Immortal Lord of the Netherfire casually ordered before walking to the hall. The Heavenly Immortals dared not even breathe heavily, quietly following him into the hall.

The Immortal Lord of the Netherfire was an unreachable Golden Immortal.

In the hall, the Immortal Lord of the Netherfire sat on a black flame, lying comfortably. The Heavenly Immortals kneeled on the ground, not daring to slack off.

“Report your progress in world destruction.”

“Your lordship, I was tasked with 9400 worlds. So far, 6120 have been thoroughly destroyed. 3280 are in the process of destruction. Among them, 3000 will be thoroughly destroyed in another hundred years.”

“Not bad. Next.”

“Your lordship, out of the 10,012 worlds under my charge, over 9000 have been thoroughly destroyed. Over 1000 are in the process of destruction.” That Heavenly Immortal couldn’t help but feel proud. The number of worlds he had destroyed ranked among the top.

“Over 9000? How many, exactly?” The Immortal Lord of the Netherfire asked casually.

This Heavenly Immortal broke out in a cold sweat and quickly bowed. “I will immediately count them carefully, your lordship.”

“There’s no need to rush. Count after the meeting, and report to me when you have the numbers.”

“Yes.”

“Your lordship, of the 8200 worlds under my charge, 2309 have been thoroughly destroyed. The rest are in the process of destruction.” Said Du Ye Messenger respectfully.

“Haha, Du Ye, what’s going on? You have destroyed so few? Can you really carry out your task? If not, hand over the worlds you haven’t destroyed yet to me. I guarantee to his lordship that I will thoroughly destroy half of them within three hundred years.” Honghu Messenger laughed and ridiculed Du Ye Messenger’s performance.

The other Heavenly Immortals snickered, wondering where Du Ye Messenger had gathered the courage to admit his poor performance.

“By the way, I remembered. Is it because one of the worlds under your charge is the most powerful Nine Provinces World?”

“That Nine Provinces World is remarkable. It has more than twenty at the Transcendance Tribulation Stage. I bet it’s hard to destroy.”

Ignoring the sarcasm, Du Ye Messenger said, “Indeed, the Nine Provinces World is difficult to destroy. If you are interested, Honghu Messenger, I can hand it over to you. It would also provide an opportunity for me to see your capabilities.”

“Really?” The Honghu Messenger was tempted. If he could destroy the Nine Provinces World, it would earn him considerable points in the Heavenly Dao’s assessment of merit.

Du Ye Messenger smirked. If you dare, go ahead. Let’s see if you can return alive. I’ve already prepared a reason for your death.

When Du Ye Messenger had gone to the Nine Provinces to kill the weak Jiang Li, he had a strange premonition of danger. It seemed that if he made a move, Jiang Li from the future would travel upstream against the river of time, summoning countless consequences to kill him personally.

Jiang Li is undoubtedly a legendary figure. Whoever wants to bring bad luck upon themselves can go ahead.

Du Ye Messenger planned to hide his knowledge of the Nine Provinces as long as possible.

As long as he could hide it, he knew he could live longer.

The Immortal Lord of the Netherfire didn’t want to listen to their argument any longer: “Enough, Du Ye, I have a question for you. Among the worlds you have dealt with, has there been any emergence of a Heavenly Dao seedling, or potential for one to emerge?”

This was the most important matter for the Immortal Lord of the Netherfire.

Du Ye Messenger dared not reveal the truth. “None.”

“No is best. I trust in your abilities. Among the Heavenly Immortals, you are the most steady and prudent. Don’t worry about destroying worlds at a slower pace. We have a lot of time. Do not follow White Night Immortal, a fool who pushed for immediate results and rushed world destruction, resulting in the emergence of a Heavenly Dao seedling in one of his worlds.”

“He even tried to hide this. If not for my spot check and discovery, a major disaster would have occurred. Fortunately, we found out early. The Heavenly Dao seedling was still weak and young. I had to abandon some of my schemes to destroy it. But if it had grown to maturity, things would have been difficult.”

No one dared respond. After White Night Immortal messed up, the Immortal Lord of the Netherfire hanged him at the South Heaven Gate. His soul shattered, and his horrible death still incited palpitations amongst them.

“Du Ye, you’re only one flower short of the ‘Three Flowers Gathering at the Top.’ Your chance at Golden Immortality isn’t far. I would like you to be my deputy.”

All Heavenly Immortals were shocked, not expecting that Du Ye Messenger, quiet as he was, had already become a Half-step Golden Immortal.

“Thank you for your boon, immortal lord.”

“Also, the task from the Underworld has been added to our responsibilities. I’d like to hear your thoughts.”
