Chapter 458 - Chapter 458: Chapter 457: Rescue Failure

Chapter 458: Chapter 457: Rescue Failure

“Do you have anything like Alchemy or Artifact Refining Techniques here?” Jiang Li described Alchemy and Artifact Refining Techniques.

“What you’re saying sounds similar to the magic art of forging and potion blending.” Lans tried his best to relate Alchemy and Artifact Refining Techniques to these arts.

“The magic of forging belongs to the Fire God, and the magic for potion blending belongs to the Water God. Forging magic requires strength, and potion blending magic necessitates the favor of the Water God, both of which I lack.”

“But if it were you, the gods might be willing to bestow these skills upon you.”

Jiang Li made a salute to the God of Fire: “Great…”

Little sparks started emerging from the statue of the Fire God, as if it wanted to bestow a skill to Jiang Li, but the statue began to quiver before the sparks could leave it.

Boom—

The Fire God statue blew apart.

Jiang Li then paid a salute to the Water God: “Please…”

Boom—

The Water God’s statue exploded right away.

Lans: “…”

Felice: “…”

They don’t have the resources to carve new statues in their small place.

Moreover, why would a statue explode every time you make a polite salute to it?

Neither of the siblings could understand the situation.

Jiang Li tried to rationally analyze it: “It is likely that these two gods feel that I am not suited to master the Artifact Refining Technique and Alchemy, and they blew up the statues instead of declining my request to save face.”

Lans thought Jiang Li’s analysis might not be illogical, except that it was pure nonsense.

Jiang Li fixed the two broken statues, untiring in his efforts to try again: “You mentioned that to master Spatial Continuation, the approval of the four gods is required. Which four are they?”

Lans carefully pointed at four statues: “They are the Gods of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water.”

“So it’s the four of you.”

Jiang Li made a respectful salute to them.

Four statues exploded almost at the same time, scrambling to burst.

Jiang Li clicked his tongue, “Disrespectful, isn’t it? Is it so difficult to acquire the Way of Space?”

Don’t panic, I haven’t tried the Way of Time yet, so there’s still a chance.

“How to master the Time Spell?”

Lans contemplated for a moment: “The Time Spell is the most difficult. In history, only two adventurers have received this grace. They were considered the chosen ones, favored by all deities. They prayed to the seven gods in front of their statues in the imperial city and were eventually bestowed with the ultimate skill – Freeze Time. Using ‘Freeze Time’ can pause time for five seconds.”

“Let me give it another try.”

Jiang Li painstakingly repaired the seven statues and then bowed respectfully to them.

The seven statues turned into powder, which can’t be put back together.

Felice decided it was high time to retire.

“God of the Wind, God of the Earth, you’re here. We’ve been waiting for you.” The God of Light, who had been cultivating his energy with closed eyes, slowly opened them, shining brightly.

The God of Light looks as sacred, grand, omniscient, and omnipotent as the statues portrayed him to be, being the cornerstone of all the gods.

The seven gods gathered to discuss important matters.

“God of Wind, why are you shivering?” God of Fire asked with concern. He and God of Wind were on good terms. Their relationship was accurately described by a phrase circulating among the people – fanning the flames.

The God of Fire was dressed in red, his hair was like fire, blazing utmost.

The God of Wind, trembling, narrated the recent incident, hoping to get answers from the God of Light.

God of Light had also never heard of such a situation: Because of the strength of the believer, the believer was hesitant to allow him to believe in them and felt that they were not worthy of his respect.

Was it possible?

They are the most powerful beings in the world, the source of faith. How could anyone be stronger than them?

Or, could it be another visitor from outer space, like the person who claimed to be the Honghu Messenger?

“Let’s discuss this matter later, we need to focus on the main topic of this meeting…”

Spurt—

Before God of Light could finish his words, God of Fire spat out blood suddenly. The blood was like magma, bubbling up.

“What happened to you, God of Fire? Spurt—” As the God of Water stepped forward to show concern, he ended up down the same track, vomiting a mouthful of blood.

“What’s happening?”

The fellow gods were frantic, trying to comfort their colleagues. Why were they suddenly in such a state?

God of Fire and God of Water exchanged a terrified look. They roughly understood what the God of Wind had experienced. No, the God of Wind had just been shocked but not physically harmed. They, on the other hand, had actually vomited blood.

“We, we can’t resist… ”

“There was a believer who wanted me to grant him the Art of Forging. Before I could respond, my body acted on its own to comply with his request, and tried to transfer the Art of Forging to him. No, it tried to bestow it upon him.”

“But despite my best efforts, I couldn’t grant him the Art of Forging. My body kept insisting on trying to make it happen, and as a result, I vomited blood.”

“The same thing happened to me when the believer requested the technique of potion blending,” said the God of Water.

God of Light sighed: “We attribute our successes and failures to faith, which endows us with tremendous strength but also makes us powerless to control our actions at times.”

God of Light continued: “Perhaps the proficiency of this believer in the Art of Forging and Potion Blending is so poor that they are outside our ability to handle, which has led to this situation.”

Having said that, the God of Light still felt uneasy. Even if the believer had poor proficiency, so that it was beyond their capabilities, they could simply deny the request. After all, faith would not drive them to the verge of vomiting blood.

And how does one explain the incident with the God of Wind?

Unless somebody was so strong that even faith had no control over them.

“This is just a minor setback; let’s continue our discussion…”

Spurt—

Four blood-spitting sounds sounded simultaneously.

The four gods of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water vomited blood and fell to the ground, struggling to get back up.

“Space Magic… That believer forcefully demanded to learn Space Magic. But this really is beyond our abilities.” The four gods groaned.

When will the days of being swept away by faith end?

The Beast God and the Elf God watched, their scalps tingling. The situation was too bizarre.

The eldest brother, God of Light, cleared his throat and continued: “We devised the plan to hide from mortals, in collaboration with the demons, precisely to avoid being controlled by faith. This meeting is to discuss the next steps…”

Suddenly, the seven gods sensed an impending disaster. That believer wanted to learn the most difficult magic secret – Freeze Time.

The problem was they genuinely couldn’t do Freeze Time. Historically, two people had mastered Freeze Time, but that was fake, a ruse to prove their strength.

Of course, they wouldn’t confess to their believers that it was fake. Instead, they would say that the skill of ‘Freeze Time’ did exist and could stop time worldwide, including themselves, for five seconds.

They also told believers that the significance of ‘Freeze Time’ was that, even you won’t notice the difference in the five seconds after its activation.

“Quickly find this person, and beg him to leave us alone…” The God of Light cried out, but no one responded.

Six gods fainted.

God of Light swayed, finally experiencing what others had, and then fell to the ground.

Thud—

All seven gods fell unconscious.

The last thought the God of Light had before losing consciousness was that the believer was too scary.
