1563 Immortal Monarch's Blood
Both Xuan Wei and Xuan Kun looked as though they just witnessed their ancestors' ghost after hearing Bai Ning's words.
"Lady Bai… I don't mean to doubt you, and I apologize in advance for saying this, but could you be mistaken?" Xuan Kun said in a nervous voice.
"Mistaken? Me? Impossible! Although I have never tasted the Immortal Monarch's blood before, I have read enough about it to recognize it if I ever tasted it! This blood is, without a shadow of a doubt, the Immortal Monarch's blood, and I am willing to bet my life on it!" Bai Ning spoke with confidence.
"If you're that certain…" Xuan Kun stared at the vial of blood and swallowed nervously.
He didn't wholly believe Bai Ning, but it wasn't as though he could make her use the Scroll of Validity, as that would basically tell her he didn't trust her. However, if there's even one percent that the blood genuinely belonged to the Immortal Monarch, he wanted it!
"Lady Bai… this may be imprudent of me, and allow me to apologize in advance again, but…"
"No." Bai Ning responded before he could even finish his sentence.
She turned to glare at him and continued, "You were going to ask me to give you some of this blood, right? I refuse. I don't care what you have to offer me. I won't give you even a single drop."
Xuan Kun began sweating profusely at her words, but he still remained hopeful, "I beg you, Lady Bai… You have about a dozen drops of blood inside that vial… Can't you just spare a single drop for this old man? It would mean the world to me!"
Bai Ning sneered and said, "I'll think about it if you can find me the individual who attacked Bai Xutao."
Xuan Kun's jaw dropped. After a moment of silence, he sighed out loud, "I'll be blunt, Lady Bai. It's almost impossible to find someone like that with so little information. The only thing we know about this individual is that he's a genius who can fight multiple realms above his own cultivation and that he wields a golden spear that can penetrate spiritual energy."
"And there's a high probability that he's from the dragon clan." Bai Ning quickly added.
Xuan Kun sighed again, "I will ask my informants in the Third Heaven to see if they have any information. It might take a couple of days for a response."
"That's fine. I planned on staying here a little longer, anyway." Bai Ning nodded as she looked at the upper floors of the tower.
Meanwhile, Yuan returned to Xi Meili's side.
"How'd it go? Did she recognize you?" Xi Meili asked.
He shook his head, "No, but I got the feeling that she finds me familiar."
"What did you talk about? It was over pretty fast, too."
"It wasn't much. She asked me how I knew about the Immortal Monarch being alive."
"So, did you lie to her?"
"No, I didn't lie. I didn't even tell her anything." He casually shrugged.
"Huh?" Xi Meili raised an eyebrow.
"She stopped caring about that when I told her that I could set up a meeting with the Immortal Monarch for her."
"And you intend on keeping your word?"
"Of course, but she'll need to do something for me first. I wasn't able to kill Bai Xutao back then, so I'm giving her the chance to set up another meeting for me."
Xi Meili's jaw dropped at his words.
"And then what? You'll reveal your true identity after killing Bai Xutao in front of her?"
"Pretty much."
"That's… pretty cruel. I wonder how she'll react," she muttered.
Yuan smiled and said, "I get the feeling that she'd do anything for the Immortal Monarch. I don't doubt she'd even kill her own brother if the Immortal Monarch told her to."
"Then you might as well do just that. At least that'll save you some energy."
"No, I won't feel satisfied unless I squeeze Bai Xutao's life away with my own hands for attacking you and Feng Feng."
"Are you sure you want to do that? He's a descendant of the Heavenly White Tiger God, one of the Nine Divine Supremes. I won't blame you for forgiving him."
Xi Meili wondered if he'd feel bad about killing one of his follower's descendants.
"It's not like he's the Heavenly White Tiger God's son—or even grandson. If the Heavenly White Tiger God were here, he'd probably kill Bai Xutao before I could even get to him." Yuan shook his head.
"You make a fair point…" Xi Meili mumbled with a look of realization.
"Anyway, I'll deal with it when we get there. For now, let's check out the information that the woman gave me for meeting her." Yuan retrieved the jade slip and began reading its contents.
Half of the information in the jade slip talked about the Heavenly White Tiger God's achievements during his time as one of the Nine Divine Supremes. The other half was mostly scattered information about the Immortal Monarch, such as potential hobby, his height, his woman type, and how delicious his blood tasted.
"There's not much in here that I don't already know, but there is some useful information about the Heavenly White Tiger God and their Heavenly White Tiger Clan," Yuan muttered after reading all the information, feeling as if he had just perused the diary of a love-stricken teenager. The text was filled with effusive praises for the Immortal Monarch, offering more adulation than substantial information.
"Most of the information left in this room are rumors rather than actual facts," said Xi Meili.
Yuan nodded and said, "Then let's read through them quickly and leave."
A few hours later, a familiar voice resounded inside Yuan's head, "My liege, I have found this immortal you're looking for."
"Oh? Where are they?"
"They are actually very close to your current location, hiding on a remote island in the middle of the Purple Sea." Dong Ye said.
"Perfect." Yuan smiled at this information.
