Volume 1 - CH 17

Volume 1: The Light

“…… But was it really good? Doing something like that?”

Allegro, a man with all-back red hair, asks the person in front of him. It was Emilia, the President of the Magic Association. He is also the most powerful wizard who, despite being over a hundred years old, still retains a young body.

Allegro is his secretary.

“I’m not going to say it again, Allegro. Don’t make me repeat it.”

“But Gory is a man with the qualities befitting a Great Sage. Many Magicians respect him. If you expel him without a good reason, I’m certain there will be protests.”

“I’m sure they will. He had raised many Magicians. He’s probably more popular than me. Ha ha ha.”

Although Emilia is overwhelmingly strong, he had a very bad reputation. He is a bratty, childish and moody person, not the type that would go along with people.

However, his overwhelming strength, which can cancel out all of his weaknesses, keeps him in the position of President.

“This is not a laughing matter, President. How am I going to explain this to the people?”

“I don’t know, you can deal with it yourself.”

“So irresponsible…”

Allegro is always asked to do unreasonable things, but this time it was much worse than usual.

He just doesn’t understand the purpose of this. The President didn’t hate Gory, so why… Allegro was confused.

“You knew, didn’t you, President? That Gory is doing something important that he can’t let go. And yet you still forcibly summoned him. Though, I don’t understand why, do you just want to make him angry?”

“Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t do this to him because I was crazy.”

“E? Is that so?”

“Of course not. What do you think I am?”

I think you are a selfish demon. Allegro thought in his mind, but didn’t say it out loud.

Allegro is a man skilled in the art of deception. That is why he is in the position he is in now, even though he is not a good Magician.

“I’m not sure why, could you tell me?”

“Well, I don’t mind telling you, but it’s not something you can understand.”

Emilia said as a preface.

“A ‘trend’ is going to happen, and it’s a big one. My astral divination tells me that Gory has a high probability of being a part of it.”

“…… E? What do you mean?”

The words are too abstract and Allegro got even more puzzled.

But Emilia continued his words without any explanation.

“I don’t know what will happen. It’s such a big trend that Magic City will also be involved. But at that time, Gory should not be with us. He has another role to play.”

“So that’s why you cut him off? If so, why didn’t you just say so in person?”

“Fool. With that level of understanding, that’s why you can’t become a Sage.”

Emilia’s harsh words stung Allegro, and he couldn’t help but let out a grunt, as if he was literally struck by something.

It was a sensitive topic that he did not want to discuss.

“Forcibly modifying the trend would lead to unexpected negative effects. It must be done and guided indirectly.”

“What would you have done if Gory had chosen to become a Great Sage?”

“If he had, I would have made two or three more moves. But if, by then, he still wanted to become a Great Sage, I would simply accept it. Too much interference disrupts the trend.”

To be honest, Emilia did not expect Gory to leave the association so soon. It was unthinkable that he would leave the association, as he was dedicated to the pursuit of magic.

But he did. Emilia was really intrigued to know what had driven him to this point.

“Let’s see how things go, we might see something interesting.”

Emilia smiled happily as he said this.

He only does what he is interested in. There is no distinction between right and wrong.

Allegro muttered to himself, his stomach churning, ‘what am I going to do?’

“I didn’t get a autograph after all… I hope my daughter doesn’t get mad at me.”
