Chapter 31 - Capable Candidate

Gasps, Luna cupped her mouth and hide her face in between her knees. 'Wait! Why did I say that?! I sounded like I'm in love with him!'

'But, he wouldn't know the meaning behind it, right? He didn't misinterpret those word, right? Oh…god, I hope once he returns to his normal state, he wouldn't remember any of it.'

While she was still arguing with her own heart, Raymond move closer to her and kiss on top of her head. "Then..S-stick with your word."

He immediately stands up and leaves the room.

After he went out, Luna lifts up her face and looks around the room. "Huh??"

With a blank expression, she then slowly standing up and leave the room too. Once she was out, Mr. Carson and Cody were still at the front of the gym.

"Raymond.."

She wanted to ask Mr. Carson about Raymond, but then she saw the big smile Mr. Carson give her. That alone is enough to make her face turn bright red.

"He's now in a good mood, ma'am."

"Oh, that's good then." She averts her eyes and walks back to the pool followed by Cody behind her.

Cody did not say anything as he keeps his professionalism in check. He after all, already know that the pretty girl he met today is that guy's wife who just out from the gym when he was waiting outside.

A dark-haired man, with strong features and prominent, Cody instantly knows that guy probably not someone with just an average background. There's no way he wants to risk his own career to meddle with their household issues.

He wants to just keep everything in order and not do something that will risk his own life. That's what he thought after seeing the situation he's in.

While Raymond, he already changes the place to exercise, he did not want to watch Luna at the pool with that coach if that only would bring him into an unstable mode. He'll trust Luna's word and do his best to get the best figure for her to drool over.

Bam!!

A loud banging sound was echoed through the entire floor when Victoria storming to Barbara's office in Wayne Corp tower.

Barbara flinches her body when the loud sound startling her from doing her job. She immediately stands up upon seeing the rage old woman approaching her table. She looks so furious.

"M-Mother." She still greets her even though it was hard to just ignore the rage on her face.

Without any word come out from her mouth, Victoria raises her hand high and slaps her daughter-in-law's cheek, hard.

Another slapping sound echoed through the room. This time, a few workers at the front office start to peek at the event that happens inside the luxury glass office room where their boss was slapped by the legendary president of Wayne.

"How dare you lay your filthy finger on Luna!" Victoria shrieking in anger. She receives the news from the maids who she entrusts to report everything to her what is happening inside the mansion where her grandson live.

When she gets the news, she immediately accessing the house system to confirming the accident before it was deleted by none other than her own grandson. Probably because he was afraid that this thing would happen to his mother. He always protects his rotten mother.

The sting and throbbing pain on her cheek makes Barbara clench her jaw before she swallows her saliva a bit and turns around her face to look at the old lady.

"What are you talking about, mother?"

Victoria took out her handkerchief and her assistant pour a small amount of hand sanitizer to her before she cleanses her hands and wipes it using the handkerchief and passes it to her assistant, she treated it like it was a dirties thing she ever touches. It makes Barbara more fuming inside.

"Starting from today, you're fired. One more word and your husband will be stripped off from his position in Wayne Corp."

Barbara couldn't believe what she was just heard from her mother-in-law. Her husband is the treasured son in Wayne's household, why she want to threat it to this extent just because of that stupid girl? A peasant who had nothing that can benefit Wayne! Why! What kind of charm did she already put her to mother-in-law?

Barbara grit her teeth, she wants to protest, but she is too afraid with the threat Victoria just said. She is the woman who does what she said. Now, she has no choice than give up her position.

"Clear this room, tomorrow I want a new head of the Finance department to meet me early in the morning." Victoria gives her command and leaves the office.

Everyone at the front office cubicles immediately run back to their workstation once the almighty lady boss is out from the luxury glass office, she makes everyone tremble by just hearing her clicking heels on the floor.

After Victoria gets inside the executive elevator, Barbara slams her hand on her desk.

"Fuck!"

She then took out her phone and dialing her husband number. But to no avail, probably he's in a meeting right now. She then cleans up her table and storms out of the office.

Inside the elevator,

Victoria glance at her assistant, he looks stoic as ever. He has been working with her since nine years ago. A very diligent worker and smart. He just like a perfect assistant that every president wants.

"Contact Liam. Its time for him to return now." Victoria said with the firm.

"Yes, Ma'am." Steven, Victoria's private assistant turn on the tablet on his hand and start to search Liam Wayne contact information.

Liam is the first son of James Wayne and Daisy Shawn. But after James met Barbara, he divorces Daisy who pregnant that time and left her at her hometown.

The baby is taken care privately by Victoria and she provides everything that Wayne should have. After Liam graduate from his university, she offers him to work at Wayne Corp, but he rejects the offer with a reason that he wants to live a normal life where he wants to experience the struggles to find a job like everyone else.

Years have passed, now Liam is twenty-eight, he has his own company which designing mobile apps and a quite loaded with his income. His talent as a leader, acknowledged by Victoria. Just within a few years, he able to climb up into the ranks twenty most accomplished company. He truly is Wayne after all, between him and his step-little brother..he's more humble and easygoing than the cold and arrogant Raymond. He is the capable candidate to take over Wayne Corp besides Raymond, that everyone doesn't know.
