Chapter 80 - The Last Memory I Have

At the dining table.

"Hmm ... mama sure takes a long time in the restroom." Lily glance at her daddy, signaling her daddy that Luna is quite late and 'that man' is also still not coming back to the table.

"Hm, yeah. Let me call-"

Ding! A new message just pops up from his phone's screen. It is from Luna. Brian opens the text and reads it.

"I feel a bit sick and need fresh air for a while. Can you take the kids with you tonight? I'll be returning to the room after I feel a bit okay."

Brian sighs and then looks at the two empty seats. 'What did he do to you this time?' Feeling a bit worried.

Alex also looks a bit gloomy after seeing him read the text and hear a slow sighing from Brian. He could have guessed that something must have happened between his mother and his father.

"Alright guys, mama just sends me a message that she's not feeling good. Probably because she ate something and upset her stomach, thus she needs some rest. So you guys… stayed with me tonight, alright?" Brian tries to give a reasonable excuse to cover up what exactly happened from their kids.

Nodding their heads, both of them agree to stay the night with their daddy. Alex looks at Lily before she slowly nods her head again. She has put the small device on Luna's bracelet, so maybe they can play the recording to find the truth.

Jamal didn't say anything as he could guess something happened between the two. Well, after knowing the truth about their relationship he feels like he is trapped in the middle. Not knowing to cheer at who between the two men.

They are both a good man and they are obviously great fathers too. However, their circumstance..he doesn't even know what happens to them until they become entangled like this..it seems like their problem is much more mess up than a soap drama.

Luna walks alone at the beach while watching a few couples taking a night walk, cuddling, kissing and chatting all along the beach. The ocean waves sound crashing the shore makes her mind at a little peace at least.

She actually didn't mean to overhear their conversation as she accidentally got out from the restroom at the wrong time when she saw both of them at the corner wall. Raymond was holding that woman's arm and she was totally shocked by his action. He is not someone who would grab someone's arm especially a woman who he doesn't know.

And she abruptly stops her pace and hides behind the pillar, hoping that they will immediately leave that place but who would've thought that she heard something even more shocking instead?

Luna stops near the huge rock and sits down on white recherche sands beside the rock. A little bit is hidden from everyone on the beach. It's quiet and she could clear her head for a moment.

'So, he's not fighting with her? Well, that's glad. Maybe it's true that he only wants to know about me and probably wants to ask for a divorce? But wait..even if I agree to sign, what will happen to Alex? The original contract…is still with Barbara.'

Luna sighs.

'If he wants a divorce and leaves me with Alex alone from Wayne's grasps... I'm willingly signing the divorce paper..' Her eyes start to teary a bit.

'Really, Luna? Will you be able to sign it? Even after five years, you still couldn't forget about him, how do I have to live when I know he's no longer bound with me? Why does it so hard to forget about him? Wake up, Luna! He's not yours from the very beginning! How long you want to torment yourself?'

Little sniffles let out from her mouth along with her tears.

"I fucking hate you." She utters it slowly and wipes away her tears using her finger. Hoping that would not leave a trace on her face.

Raymond who finally spots her walked to her from behind and when he wants to call out her name, he heard what she just said. It stings his heart and decides to turn around his body and sits behind her back, facing the other way.

"Who do you hate?" He asked.

Startled, Luna flinches a bit but not turning her face to the back as could guess his voice. She silent for a moment.

"Is it me?" Raymond asked again.

Luna then places her chin on her knees, looking at the ocean wave crashing the shore.

"Why would I hate you? I have no reason for hating you, Mr. Ray." She replies. 'Just go Raymond..what else do you want from me? The Luna you know already dead. Accept that fact and live with it.'

"You have so many reasons to hate me and I know that clearly. I'm not a good person to you. But, let me tell you, everything that you've heard earlier is a lie." Raymond speaks from his own heart.

"I did not give anything that I give to you to someone else. Including my heart. I know, I sound crazy but that's the truth. I love you, Luna. I've been searching for you like a crazy person for five years without even knowing anything about why we end up like this. No one ever tells me. So please…tell me what is going on five years ago? Let us be clear and find a better solution for our future." Raymond stops and waits for Luna to reply, but she still silent.

"Are you mad because I'm getting married to Sarah?" He asked feeling a bit worried that it might be the case as to why she runs away.

Sighing, Raymond lowered his head, looking to the sand. "Listen, I'll be honest to you." He then inhales a little, before he continues again.

"Yes, I did love her..but it was when I was young, stupid and stubborn. The last memory I have after I wake up from the surgery is when I send her a bouquet of roses after she says she wants to go to Washington. When I wake up and the first person who stands beside my hospital bed was her. I had no clue at all about your existence in life. I had no single memory of you.

"Not a single person tell me that I have married you when I was in a blank year. Then something happens when I saw a contract between you and my grandma on my mother's desk. I asked her and only then she told me about you. But she tells me that you were just a nurse and a nobody to me. You already took the money and the contract is already over but you did not want to have a divorce to extort our family fortune. Yes, I admit, I believe in that story. I really hate you back then.

"When you came over to my house that night, I was shocked. I never saw you, your face is so unfamiliar to me, and I treat you like trash that night. I'm truly sorry. I am a scumbag. But after that, a series of blurry memories start to haunt me. I had to take medicine to get over that blurry memories. And the second encounter with you is when…you know...

"We had sex and I had to go to the other side of the world the very next day because I really had an important meeting there. I thought you were staying over at my house and I ready to face you but when I'm returned, you were gone. I don't even know where have you been, nor where do you live. I was so engrossed with work that I forgot about you. And the last thing that happens in my life that gives me a huge impact is when I received the news about that accident.

"The news gives me a total shock which my body feels numb all over and I couldn't even walk at that time. When they say they want to bury you, I take all the courage I have left to see by myself if it is you or not. The moment I saw that corpse, I knew it's not you. When I found you now…I was so…overjoyed. I want us to be together, so please..tell me what happens to us that drive us like this?" He almost begging her for telling him the truth.

Luna was still silent before she closes her eyes and took a deep breath.
