Chapter 183 - Raymond's Wedding Day

"I thought I was totally over her that time, but then we met again a few years later. She had an interview for a position at NASA's center and I'm one of the interviewers. Because this project that I collaborate with NASA requires a large number of scientists from all over the world."

"She's one of the scientists that got invited for the interview and one of the participants that pass the test. I didn't use my real name back then and I think of approaching her with my ' new ' identity. I'm the leader of the project so I introduce myself as Prof. Brian to another team project too."

Luna rubs her chin using her index finger. Well, its kinda cliche on how he wants to approach her. But she decides to hear all of his stories first.

"She was apart from that 'dog' and she clearly had a problem with him at that time, that's why she decided to move to Washington and stay here using a 'work' reason. When I got to know her, I couldn't stop thinking of making her mine and that's when I came up with the idea of marrying her just after two months I know her."

"That fast?" Luna arched her eyebrow and Brian nods his head. "What about you? You don't even know Raymond at all at that time, right?"

Sighing, she slightly nodded. "Alright, I'm more worst than you." She shrugged her shoulder and let him finish his story.

"I knew she decides to go with my suggestion just to make that 'dog' realize but..even after we married, I know she hasn't fully forgotten that 'dog' . When she know about my real identity, she was so furious and we had quite often fought and I always end up leaving her alone to cool down. I don't know at that time she was in danger because of the research she's done with that 'dog' and his brother."

"She looks depressed when she knows that she's pregnant and when she goes to Singapore to visit her adoptive parents, she runs into trouble and was…you know, she had an accident and had to give birth to Lily without me at her side."

"I was so sad and despair that time and I without thinking neglect my child and you had to step in to help Lily. Thanks, Luna."

Luna smiles at the man and squeezes his hand. "I just do what a mother would do. It was at nighttime when suddenly a nurse pushes a baby cart into the ward and she was crying non-stop." Luna starts to remember back when she first met with Lily.

"I try to check with the nurse at the counter, but they were busy and I couldn't help hearing her cries for almost twenty-minute and that's my limit, you know.. Alex also starts to cry and it's only two babies in the isolation room. I just pray that night that whoever the baby parent is, they would not mad at me for feeding their baby with my breastmilk."

Brian smile at her. He was thankful for that.

"But, why you didn't even visit her for almost three months? And she already accustomed to sharing the milk with Alex and suddenly, I become a mother of two children."

"As I said before, I was in no shape as a human being after my wife dies. It took me three months before I totally can find my strength to visit my daughter. And yes, I was also shocked to find you were breastfeeding Lily, you know?"

"Pftt, haha... I remembered your face that day, you thought you were in the wrong room right? Lucky that Alex had a special condition and had to stay at the hospital for quite long before he could discharge."

"Yeah...I was lucky that Lily found someone like her mother as well. Again, thanks, Luna for all that you've done for me."

"As I said, Brian..I just do what a mother would do."

They both turned to look at the night sky and Brian suddenly changes the topic. "You know..I've been wanting to discuss one important thing with you."

Luna turns her head to the man. "Hm? About what?"

Looking at her, he seriously says, "About your feeling toward me."

Luna scrunching her eyebrow for a moment. "Luna... I'm sorry." Brian continues again and he straightens his sit to face her properly. "I don't think we can be a real couple. Don't you think so?"

Luna smile at him before she nods agrees with him. "I think the same as you. I mean..we're good, we understood each other and we complete each other role too-"

"But there's no deep feeling between us, right?" Brian interjects her word and again Luna nods her head.

"I don't get mad, jealousy, or any feeling that involves love. If we're about to be together, yes, we'll be a perfect couple but there's a hollow between us and only we can see and feel it." Luna continues and Brian pulls her head to his chest gently.

"I know you love someone so deeply. I won't repeat the same mistake again this time." He caresses her hair softly and Luna inhales deeply. Thankful for his understanding and not pushing her to make a decision that she wasn't ready to make.

"Until you found your love again, you'll be always at my care and my wings. I'll protect you and Alex." He releases her from the hug and stares at her unique green eyes.

Luna nodded her head. "Mm!"

The next few days,

Luna was at the family hall and watches the news about the grandiose wedding between the Wayne and Rochester will be held at the prestigious church in New York City and before the news finish, Luna turns off the TV.

She turns around and found that Brian was standing at the door frame, he just returns home from work. "Hey.." Luna greets him and he smiles back at her.

"Hey..so, um.." He scratches his head a little and Luna already knew something is bothering him.

"What is it?" Luna invites him to sit down on the couch and he follows her from behind. "Um..its about Raymond's wedding day."

Luna flinched and close her eyes for a moment. "What about it?"

"I got the invitation, so..would you like to come with me?" Brian asked. He knew what Luna will react to it but he still wants to ask her anyway. As one of the business partners, he needs to attend the wedding and show his face.

"I, uh.." Luna averts her eyes when she saw someone standing behind the man.

"Alex?" Luna was a bit surprised to see him suddenly standing there holding a thick book.

Alex averts his eyes from Luna to Brian. He slowly walks to the room and smiles at them. "Daddy, can I come with you to go to uncle Raymond's wedding?" He asked.

Luna and Brian both dumbfounded with his request.

"Baby...I don't think you can go-" Brian suddenly lifts up his hand to make Luna stop her word.

"Um, Alex..are you sure you wanna go?" Brian asked him and Luna was surprised to hear Brian's question.

Alex nods her head. "Yes, I wanna go and congratulate Uncle Raymond for his wedding," he said with a firm tone.

Brian smile at the boy and says, "Okay..but you have to wear what daddy will provide you, is that alright?"

Again, Alex nods his head.

Luna opens her mouth like wanting to say something and Brian immediately wink at her.

"My favor for you." He inaudibly mouthed at her and again, Luna gasps.

She shakes her head before she mouthed back at him. "No, thank you!"

"Um, so when is Uncle Raymond's wedding day?" Alex suddenly asked when he saw both of them suddenly exchange their secret conversation.

"Good question, Alex.." Brian smile and took out an invitation card from his suit pocket before he opens it in front of Alex.

"It's on 21 September. So, we have around two days from now." He closes back the card and put it away before he carries Alex into his arm.

"Will mama go too?" Alex once again asked and look at Luna which still froze at the couch.

Shook her head, Luna says, "No, dear...I have somewhere that I need to go. So, you're staying with daddy okay?"

Alex nod. Of course, he knew his mother's answer and he just wanna congratulate his father. That's all.
