CIA headquarters.
"Have you any report regarding 'KIERA,' agent Caitlin?" Madeline asked while there are another two prominent figures inside the room. One of them is the defense minister.
Caitlin bows her head a little while still at ease position. "No, Ma'am. She rarely showed up these days."
"Hmm.. this is a serious case since now there's someone who can surpass KIERA's program. I need to split you two into individual tasks." Madeline averted her eyes to the sturdy build guy standing beside Caitlin. His is Agent Flynn. One of the top spies in the base. He is also Caitlin's mentor.
"This new hacker, I need agent Flynn to investigate it. And agent Caitlin, you still need to find out KIERA's whereabouts. I'm afraid if the two of them joining in force. We'll be in a vital situation."
Both Caitlin and Flynn nodded their heads. "Yes, ma'am." They both salute before walk out of the room.
In the hallway, Flynn holds Caitlin's arm. "Hey, umm.." He shyly looks at her, who already tilts her head a bit.
"What is it, Flynn?" She asked. Curious to why his face suddenly a bit reddened. Is it hot right now?
"Uh..it's not about working related. But I just wanna.." He inhaled a bit and looked at her face properly. Well, he put on his business-serious face. "Would you like to have dinner with me?"
Caitlin was startled for a second before she starts smiling. Blushing a bit. "Well…uh.."
"Caitlin." A familiar voice suddenly interrupted their conversation.
Caitlin turns around and averts her eyes to the man who already walks to them. Flynn also looks a bit confused to see him walking to them.
He then walks in front of Caitlin, protecting her. With his colossal figure and sturdy built, Brian was a bit lost in comparison with him.
Brian scoffed at the man, "Can you move to the side? I need to talk with agent Caitlin." He stated while looking at the guy.
Caitlin rolled her eyes, peek from behind Flynn's back. "What do you want, Mr. Benedict? I'm in working hours right now."
Brian's squinting his eyes to the girl. "I need your Eli." He said, then both of Flynn and Caitlin look at each other before she averted her eyes back to Brian.
"For what reason?"
"I'm Eli's developer. Your Eli needs to be upgraded into a new version, and it might save your life later." He glances at the man who was still guarding Caitlin like she is his kitten.
Caitlin sighs. "But Eli already sync with my brain. It'll take hours to take it out from my nerves." She feels it such a hassle to do the procedure to take the chip out from her cervical nerves.
"That is the more reason why you need to follow me now, the procedure has been upgraded, and it won't take long as before," Brian said, and Flynn still showing his poker face in front of that man.
Caitlin bit her bottom lips. 'God…just when I want to have a normal date! '
Brian still standing there, insisting her to follow him now. Looking at the situation, Flynn turned his body around and placed both of his hands on Caitlin's shoulder.
He signals her with his head to follow that arrogant man. "Is it okay if I take it as a yes? I'll give you a call later." He smiles, and Caitlin nods her head.
"Sure. Until then, Flynn." Lisa returns his smile, and they both part their way. Caitlin follows Brian back to his base while Flynn starts doing his assignment to collect more info about this new hacker.
…
Caitlin already changes into a white hospital gown, ready to lie down on the stretcher bed inside a glass room. This was a familiar scene when she was first getting Eli planted on her brain.
"Are you ready, agent Caitlin?" One female doctor asked while helping her to lie on her side on the stretcher. A few other scientists are already ready at the outside of the glass room. Observing the process.
"Yeah." She replies and averts her eyes to the man who is standing at her side. He looks calm, and it somehow irked her. This process will hurt her like hell, and he had no idea how bad her state was in the last time.
It's all because of him. If Brian did not abandon her that time, she probably wouldn't have gone through all of this.
"You have something to say to me?" Brian asked when he noticed the menacing look from her.
"Yeah. I fucking hate you, asshole." She said with a little voice, which only he hears that. Lift his eyebrow, Brian smirk a bit. "Hmm..let see how you can handle the pain."
He signals the female doctor to stop injecting her with the pain reliever and start the process without any morphine for her.
Caitlin did not bait her eyes when they start the incision at her neck. It fucking hurt her, but the pain is nothing than what she felt in her heart right now. 'So, he wants to torture me alive? Fine, just look at how I handle it then. I won't let my tear fall for this cold man again.'
Brian looks at her incision, which still bleeding and instructs the doctor to pull out the chip from her flesh in a hurry. It's so that they can close up the wound faster and stop her bleeding. She'll be lost a lot of blood if it takes longer and probably will result in death.
The moment the chip is pulled out from Caitlin's flesh, she squeezes her eyes and grunts slowly. Trying to hold her tear and the pain she felt. Just after the chip is out, Brian immediately injects her again with the morphine without her knowing it. All of the doctors sighs secretly in relief. Well, at least he did not intend to kill her. She could've died just now.
Caitlin falls into a vegetative state for temporary while the doctor closing up her wound back and let her rest for a while. The chip has been clean up and passed it to Brian by his order.
He will use the chip that contains almost all of her memories and upgraded it into a new version. He knew Lisa's invention is quite similar to him in the past.
Except his wife manages to create a device without planting it inside the brain. Until now, he doesn't know how she did it. He can't copy her program either. All of her programmed is incompatible with him. Like she creates her own language, and only she could read and understand it. It's full of symbols and tough to decode it either.
The rod device memory she given to him has been locked inside his bedroom. He doesn't know how to operate it either. He couldn't find any device that can replay what's in his memory record.
While inserting the chip into his decoding device, Brian looks at the program, where it stores mostly of Caitlin's memory. He feels a bit curious about why she decided to join the CIA.
The curiosity he felt led him to watch her memory that has been recorded by Eli.
…
Caitlin opens her eyes when she can feel a bright light hit her face. "Hey, bunny." Flynn greets her with a bunny plushies in his right hand.
Smiling, Caitlin rubs her face, and it hurt her neck like hell. "Ow.." She squinted her eyes a bit.
"Hey, don't move yet. Your wound still.." He held her hand and put it down on the bed.
"By the way, I heard that you curse someone inside the surgery room and resulting in you not to get the pain reliever. What happen?" He asked with his business tone. This means it is about work.
"I'm sorry, sir. It won't happen again." She replies with a firm, and that's earned her a flicker on her forehead.
"I didn't train you to let out your anger in public. Next time..be more careful. If you don't mind, you can tell me and let me finish that guy off. Okay?" He moves her fringe to the side.
"I'm worried about you. That's why..don't overexert your body to this extent. Got it?" he asked her with a gentle tone.
Caitlin smile and slowly nod her head. "I'll try."
"Hmm..don't just talk."
