Nevada, somewhere in the desert,
Caitlin was leaning on her white Jaguar while waiting for someone to show up around here. Their meeting point. This location is one of the blind spots for the Hawkeye satellite.
After a few minutes of waiting, she saw someone rode a KTM bike to her location. She smiles a little. This guy really on time.
"Hey, agent Caitlin." The guy smiles at her and stops his bike beside her car. He lifts up his helmet visor and squints his eyes a bit because of the sunlight.
"Hey, Parker. Got what I want?" Caitlin did not waste her time as she is straightly asking him to the point. And the guy smirk at her.
"Really impatient, huh?" He took out a file from his backpack and gave it to her. "Here, did you bring the money?"
Caitlin took the file and threw him a bundle of money that she rolled it into a bulk. "Count it." She said, and she averts her eyes on the details on the document before she scrunches her eyebrow.
"Is this what you got?" Caitlin looks at the man again when he still counting on the money she gave him.
"Yup, that's the record of the energy source that happen five years ago. I've compared it with the whole state, and only what you saw right now is remaining." He said proudly, and Caitlin still frowns, looking at the guy. Hard to believe it.
"Hey, it's hard to find the data from five years ago, okay? Be grateful I can provide this information for you." Parker said and shoved all the money into his pocket before he starts up his bike engine again.
"Right…thanks." Caitlin also closes the file and ready to leave the place.
"Anytime, sweetheart." Parker smiles and winks his eye to her before he leaves her in the desert.
Caitlin scoffed and got inside the car. "Flirty guys." She murmurs and starts the car engine. Her head still confuses with the information she just receives from that guy. He's known to be the best hacker before these two unknown hackers attack the Hawkeye.
But Parker is different from any black hat hackers. He provides info for living. That's mean he only does any job that he sees fit and gets money in cash so that he'll be not on the list or being tracked down the law. No one knows about him, and only a few agents in the CIA use him as their informant.
He's an exception, and the CIA treats him as not a threat since he never attacks major companies and only sells valid information as part of his job.
When Caitlin read the information on energy consumption five years ago, that shows that Ben's mansion consumes a lot of data usage during the attack on the Hawkeye.
But, because he's a manufacturer, they slide this case and ignore it. Other than that, there are also a few places consuming a lot of data usage, but they had a valid reason and not a house like Ben's house. Most of it is a building of a workplace or server farm.
Caitlin sighs. 'Why he wants to attack his own satellite if he can just improve it without attacking it? But isn't he also in a mess during that attack? He can't even solve the problem that occurs at that time.'
Caitlin couldn't concentrate on her driving and decide to make a stop at the near rest stop ahead. After she parks her car, she finds a file that Parker gives it to her earlier.
Read it to more details and analyze the profile in the data list to find a match to it. But, there's none proof that relates Brian to this attack. She pinches her forehead.
"Ah~ this is driving me in the circle." She then pushes the button next on her laptop, and Brian's wife, Prof. Lisa, appears on the information details.
While Caitlin rubs her forehead, she looks at the woman's face. A woman who snatches her happiness long ago.
"You're beautiful..but, why did you take something that is mine? If only I could forgive you." She murmured and read on her information. After a minute, she read a line where she's work from home after getting married. She was rarely seen in public after she last visit New York City.
"Hmm..could it be that the data usage coming from Ben's house is because of her?" She tilts her head a bit while biting the edge of her pen. After thinking for a moment, she decides to go and visit Brian's mansion this weekend.
She also checks on Brian's schedule, and she was so relieved that that guy will be at Washington, D.C, doing his job this weekend. That means she can go there and investigate it further.
By now, she's sure that Brian already told his daughter about the engagement that will be held less than three weeks from now.
She closes back her laptop and file before she starts driving off from the rest stop. She took a highway to go to Seattle. Prepare herself to meet with Brian's little family there.
…
Alex frown looking at Lily, who already two days was pouting after their daddy telling them that he'll engage with this girl named Caitlin. He wonders why Lily looks so against it.
At first, he wants to ignore Lily's pouting face, but if its keep continues for two days, he can't stay silent anymore. "What's wrong with you? Why are you against daddy to remarry?"
Lily sighs before she rolls her body on her bed and punching the innocent bed. "It's not that I'm against it."
"Then? Why are you pouting?" Alex rolled his eyes. He's doing his final touch on his drawing plan.
"It's because.." She lifts up her head and looks at Alex, who calmly does his work. "I pity her." She said in a low voice.
"Pity her? Why?"
"Because…" Lily stops her word before she sighs again. "She's been hurt so many times because of daddy. I don't want her to experience it again. If daddy were just going to toy with her feeling, I can't let that happen. She's too kind." She's whining while making a circle with her finger on the mattress.
Looked at the girl for a moment, Alex sighs. "Then, what if they really love each other?"
Lily shake her head. "It's impossible. I know I sound ridiculous, but daddy's obsession is not over yet. Even when my mother is no longer here. I know he only loves my mother..but, his way of loving her is wrong."
"Why don't you fix it? You're his real daughter, after all."
"Hahh~~ I wish I can. But it's not easy. Daddy…will only hurt Caitlin, and I can't let that happen."
"Should we interfere with their love? I think we're not fit to decide what they want, right? If your daddy wants to hurt her, why he hasn't done it in the past five years? Why now, though? Who knows, maybe he comes to realize and love her properly?"
Lily shake her head. "Still…I want Caitlin to find someone who can appreciate her more than my dad can give her. Someone who can love her for eternity and wholeheartedly."
"If you're thinking that way, then why aren't you tell this to her yourself? Let her rethink to marry daddy, and you can happily ruin your daddy's engagement day because of your selfishness, right?"
Lily's squinting her eyes toward Alex. She took a soft pillow and threw it to Alex's head.
"You're become bold day by day, huh?"
"Tch!" Alex removes the pillow that hit his head earlier. He then did not reply to Lily's anymore and continue to finish up his project. This project, he'll give it to Jamal, and he also prepares something for both of them later.
Just in case if they ever need it later.
