"Hello?" Caitlin answered the call, and she smiles after hearing Flynn's voice.
"Hi, you're busy today? I didn't see you in the base at all."
"Mmm.." Caitlin squinted her eyes, thinking whether he already heard about the news or not. It's quite hot news in New York, but she doesn't know if the news already reached another city or not.
"I had things to do in New York, but I'll return to Philadelphia in the evening." She checks on her wristwatch. It's now already at 3 p.m.
"Dinner, can you make it tonight?"
Caitlin smiles widely, "Sure."
At the end of the line, Flynn also happy to hear her reply. "I'll send you the address then. Bye, Cait."
"Mhm.. see you soon." She ended the call and went inside her car.
She glances at her rear mirror and thinking of going to the salon to change her hairstyle. It's been long ago since she stops visiting the beauty parlor and dresses up nicely.
So why not tonight? This is a new beginning for her. Having a new different feeling for someone else after the long year she yearns for Brian's love, this is something she's been waiting for.
She's humming happily while steering the wheel to the salon where she always goes last time. She thought of cutting her hair a bit short and curl it a little at the edge.
When she wants to get out of her car, her phone once again buzzes, which she then frowned, looking at the caller ID. It's Brian.
Sighing in annoyed, she answers the call. "Yes?"
"I heard you were in the city. Should we have lunch together? I'm a bit free today." Brian said.
"No. I have things to do." Caitlin also didn't bother to accept his invitation. For her, he's nothing 'special' in her heart anymore. She's already moving on to love someone else.
"What thing? You can send me your location, and I'll be there in-"
"Goodbye, Ben." Caitlin ended her call and turned off her phone. She knew that he would detect her location even though she didn't give it to him the address. She then pushes a button on her car to which then it is changing her plate car number before she locks the door and walks to the saloon.
….
Brian scoffed when his call got ended by Caitlin. "Why you're so stubborn?" he frowned and type on his computer to find her location, but fails.
He sighs and averts his eyes to the big window behind his desk. He is staring blankly at the busy city in front of him. "Do you resent me too, Lisa?" he murmurs before someone knocking on his office door.
Granting permission to that person, his assistant walk inside the office with a tablet on her hand. "Sir, this report is shown that Miss Caitlin was here today to fitting her dress for the engagement day."
"Did you find her yet?" Brian asked and took the tablet from his assistant to look at the dress design. It's entirely too much of diamonds and seems heavy to wear. 'Is she really the one who decides on this design?'
He has a bit of doubt. As far as he knew, Caitlin doesn't like a dress with too many accessories on it. She uses to like something plain and easy to wear. Comfortable is her priority when selecting any clothes. 'Or maybe she's changing her taste? She's been a bit weird since the last time too.'
"We've tracked her down by traffic cameras, and Miss Caitlin is currently at Fox and Jane hair salon. Getting a new haircut."
"Oh.." 'So, that's the thing she mentions earlier. '
"Okay, just update me on her next destination." Brian gives back the tablet to his assistant before he went to continue his work.
"Yes, sir." The girl said, and ready to leave. But when she reached the door frame, she once again looks at her boss.
"Uh, sorry, Sir. I just remember, but about your suit-"
"Just pick whatever suit that matches with her. If you have anything to ask regarding the party, just ask Simon. He's in charge of everything about the party." Brian reply without looking at her.
"Alright, Sir." the girl walk out of his room after that.
…
After getting a new haircut, going on shopping, and buy new makeup for her, Caitlin rush back to her home at Philadelphia. She changed her clothes into an evening pastel pink dress and put on makeup on her face before she walks out again to her car.
She checks on her text about a location for their dinner tonight. It's in La Famiglia Restorante, an Italian cuisine restaurant. It's quite exclusive and known for one of the best romantic restaurants to dine in this city.
She's driving to the location in her car. And when she was about to enter the restaurant, her phone buzz with Brian's name on the screen. She grunts and rejects the call before she went to counter, "Hi, um, I have a reservation under Mr. Flynn's name."
The waiter at the counter nods his head, "This way, Miss." He then leads Caitlin to the private dining suite.
Seeing the man who already arrives and waiting for her with a bouquet of roses, she couldn't help but smiles. "Hi."
Flynn also blushed when seeing her face turn red, he went to her and kiss on her cheek. "Hi. Your hair, you look beautiful." He said and pulled the chair for her.
"Thank you," Caitlin said. She never gets that particular treatment before. Even if it's just a small gesture of courtesy, she feels like she's been appreciated.
"This is for you." Flynn gives her the flower, which Caitlin took it and smelled it for a bit. The rose scent is soft and mild. She likes it.
"It's red." She said while looking at the rose color, and Flynn returns to his seat. "Red means..love, passion, and devotion."
Hearing it from Flynn, Caitlin's speechless a bit. 'Is he confessing his love? Or, is he just telling me the meaning of it?' She couldn't read his expression as he always said something beautiful to her, but not knowing the meaning behind every word. He really knows to hide his emotion from flowing out other than letting his face blushed.
"Shall we order our dinner?" He looks at her and opens the menu on the table. Caitlin nod and put the flower at her side. Taking the menu and read what's on their list.
"What would you like?" Flynn asked her and put down his menu. He's already done with choosing his dinner.
Look up at him, Caitlin lift her eyebrow a bit. Of course, it's entirely different when she had dinner with Brian. He's always been the one who chose her menu, and she just looks at it without voicing out her likes at all. Everything has been ordered followed 'his' taste, not hers.
She shakes off her thought. Since before, she keeps comparing these two guys, 'What's going on with me?' She then gives her order to the waiter, and they then went to the wine cellar downstairs to choose their wine.
It's quite unique when they went to the wine cellar downstairs and choose the wine together. Flynn really considers her feelings. It makes her feels 'needed' and 'cherished' by him.
They have a lovely dinner together, and sometimes they talk about work a little, and mostly, he likes to hear her story. He knew about her background, and he's the first person who picks her as his junior when she was first entering this field.
Because when the time they met, he sees her eyes dull, there's no light in it, and she looks lonely. Like an abandoned kitten. Because of that, he took her under his wing and taught her how their work is done. And bit by bit, he starts to like her, and the likes turn into a blossoming love.
