Chapter 288 - The Next Target

The next day,

"The trials will take longer than usual proceeding time since the case is quite big, and many reporters already swarmed at the outside of the court this early morning. And I think some of them already at down there. Are you sure you don't want to go with me, darling?" Raymond fixes his tie a little before he turns to Luna, who is sitting on the bed, still wearing her nightgown.

Shakes her head, Luna said, "Hmm..yup, I'm sure. Being there will only invite a new hot topic as I still not married 'legally' to you yet, in their mind. So, I'll just stay indoor today. I'll wait for Dania's report." She stood up and went to her man.

Brush her finger on his royal blue suit, she said. "If anything urgent, I can just call Rose and deal with it. Is it okay?" She looks at him and smiles gently, which then earned a little caress on her cheek.

"Hm. You're the boss." Raymond kissed her lips softly and took his suitcase on the night table. "Don't miss me when I'm gone. I'll be back as soon as I can, alright?"

"Yeah..sure." Luna sends him to the door, and once Raymond enters the elevator, Luna closes the door back.

Today she thought of just lazying around in the house. But not long after, Rose hurriedly went inside the penthouse and found her. She looks a bit anxious.

"Luna...Luna, I just receive news from the hospital and the officer who handle Amber's case." Rose was panting while wiping her sweat on her forehead a little.

"Hm? What is it? Take a seat first." Luna springs up and helps her by pouring a glass of water, and then she handed it to Rose before she drinks it and looks at her.

"Max. The hospital calls me just now to inform me that Max is..killed by someone. He was stabbed on his chest, and his throat was cut out. It seems like someone doesn't want him to be alive. The same method of murder also happens to Amber. The officer found her dead this morning in her cells."

Luna frowned before she went to the glass window. "Who could it be? Why the murder kill them in such a cruel way? Did you get the footage of who entering their room? I thought we put on a heavy guard on Max and separate Amber from other cellmates."

"The footage has been hijack, and we can't find anything on both of the cases. The people who Mr. Raymond put on guard around Max also found to be killed. All of them has been shot in their head. Even the nurse who works at the station has been found dead this morning." Rose turns her body to Luna's direction. If her hunch is right…, the next target would probably Luna or Raymond.

"Luna…I think you should move into the bunker. I will notify Mr. Ray-"

"No." Luna stopped Rose's word and turned her body to Rose. "Don't tell him yet. He had things to do. At least, let him help his little sister for the last time." She then walks to her bedroom, followed by Rose.

"But, Luna.. the next target will probably be you."

"I know, Rose. But I don't have to hide inside the bunker. Just tighten the security around Raymond and me within a 500-meter radius. Even if someone wants to kill me, let him come. This way, we can find out who send them."

'Though I certainly believe only one man who left that dare to make this move. But, without concrete evidence, I can't do anything toward that man. I also can't leave Raymond and hide inside the bunker just like that.' Luna clenches her fist.

Rose lost her word to Luna. She can't force Luna to follow her instruction. Instead of arguing, Rose also thinks that this matter can be handle with Brian's men guarding them. A professional killer needs to deal with an expert army too.

"Yes, Luna." as she wants to step out, Luna calls her again.

"Rose, I'm gonna invite Caitlin to come over. You don't mind with her around me, aren't you?" Rose blinks her eyes a few times. 

"Huh? Why would I?" She smiles and leaves Luna alone in her bedroom. She likes Caitlin because Caitlin is a strong woman. After so many things that happen to her, she still finds her way to stand up again. Not many women can do what she's done.

Like Luna, too..she can stand up again after facing so many hardsh.i.p.s and becomes a strong woman. If they can be friends, then it's a good thing. Only the people who have gone through the pain know the misery of one another.

Just after Rose closes the door of her room, she sends another text to Caitlin. Hoping that she would agree to meet her today. She owed her an apology from what happened last time.

Also, she wants to know more and give her full support of her new love now. When Raymond is not around, she thinks she can talk more casually with Caitlin.

A few minutes later, Caitlin sent her a reply that she'd come over in the afternoon, which made Luna feel happy. She gets dressed and prepares to cook something delicious for the guest later.

Nevada, a few hours earlier,

Tap! Tap!

Flynn gives a signal to Alex while standing right at the front door. He already in his battle suit and behind his back, he's carrying the robot that will exchange with the real Alex. He put down a few tools to open the door lock on the floor.

He comes from the route which the guard is quite low to Alex's room. And just when he wants to put the tool in the door, he could hear a faint sound of clanging inside the room before the boy suddenly opened the door.

"Alex?" He asked and looked at the boy, he was a little startled when the boy actually can open the door by himself.

"Come in," Alex said in a low voice before he looks around the hallways. Afraid that someone might spot them.

"Don't worry. The guards are all sleeping soundly right now." Flynn went inside the room and looked around it. Nothing to be worried as he saw a pile of scrap metal on the floor. He's squinting his eyes a little.

"Is that.."

"Oh, the camera they install to check on me," Alex said casually, pointing his finger back at a few spots, which then Flynn raised his eyebrow a little. Impressed with Alex's work. 

With such a young age, he already knows how to hijack that equipment and make the dummy camera used to fool the people.

"What's that behind your back?" Alex went to Flynn's back and squinted his eyes on something that is covered with black cloth. Judging from the shape of it, he could guess it's the size of a boy.

"Ah~ this is actually.." Flynn takes off the package and puts it down in front of Alex. "You." he smiles and pulls off the cloth from the robot.

"Lily wants you to be exchanged with this boy..so, we that didn't leave any trace that of you being rescued," Flynn explained, and Alex nodded. Just after he examined the robot, he went to his metal scrap and did something behind the robot's head.

"What are you doing?" Flynn asked. Feeling a bit curious as to what this boy wants to do to the robot.

"Just some minor setting," he said and smiled contently before he turns on the robot. "And…it's done!" he put back the screwdriver he made and pilled up all the scr.a.p.e before he throws it into the fireplace.

"Okay..I'm done. We're good to go now." Alex said to Flynn before Flynn nod his head. He held Alex's hand and carefully brought him out of the mansion.

Maybe, it was his lucky night too as he just notified by his 'fake' boss that James is out of town right now. He's attending on his daughter's trials for tomorrow. So, it means that he had a little luck by sneaking Alex out of the mansion.

Huffing, Alex looks back at the mansion, which is still visible from his sight. "Hey.." Flynn handed him a bottle of mineral before he drinks it and continues again. "I saw Barbara Wayne a few days ago." Alex's started.

Flynn's eyes a little bit widened. Shocked by what he just hear. Which means, Alex also know what happens to Barbara Wayne?

"What did you see?" Flynn asked him, and Alex sighed. "I saw that old man, James beat his wife, but I don't really know what he does to her after that. The only thing I know that…she…was meant to be killed."

Rustle!

Flynn immediately covers Alex's body before a muzzle from M16 touch his head, while his edge of his dagger pointing at the attacker's neck. It was his fault that he's a little careless. Nevertheless, he's ready to shed some blood tonight.

"Turn around." the female voice makes Flynn scrunch his eyebrow before he is slowly turning his head around. The moment they saw each other, they both gasp loudly.

"You?!"

"And Alex???"

"What's going on here?"

"Did you know her too, Alex?"

"Wait! Wait! Why did you have Alex with you?"

Alex blinks his eyes while listening to these two people before he took a deep breath. "Excuse me? Can we go further from here first?"

Looking at the boy, Flynn suddenly remembers his mission. "Oh yeah, let's go."

Clunk!

"Wait, wait…not so fast. I can't let you bring Alex to go just like that. Explain to me what is going on here before I let you go."

Seeing how determined his mother's bodyguard is, Alex sighed and sat down back on the ground. He looks at Flynn and gives him permission to explain it to Dania.
