"Death isn't kind. It's dark and black and as far as you... As far as you can see you're all alone. There's no one else."

― Mei Misaki, (Another!)

<(Bruce Wayne POV)>

"YES! At last, I have found it." I happily exclaimed in joy as I finally succeeded in finding out what exactly made the Soul Breaker twin swords of Ras Al Ghul so unique that they could harm even souls.

The sword was mostly made of an alloy of Depleted Promethium and was nearly invulnerable but that was actually not its most amazing feature. What made it truly unique was its ability not only to touch but slay souls and spirits much like the All-blades and Muramasa blade that also existed in this universe. However, unlike the latter two which were products of magic and mystic arts, these twin swords however did not have even a tinge of additional magic on them.

I knew it because I had checked them for runes, spells, and rituals dozens of times already. No, in fact, the soul-slaying effect was because of the trace presence of an additional element in the alloy. This new element not only did not exist on the periodic table but also had never been mentioned by any researcher or inventor ever before. It was similar in structure to promethium but had vastly different uses.

Although not as strong as promethium, it, however, emitted a unique radiation that could affect spectral beings when it came in contact with one. Also, the element was extremely dense and could be used as both solid and liquid at room temperature, so it might have some other uses besides cutting souls as well.

"Maybe I should name it too since I was the one who discovered it... Hmm, let's see, how about Batmanium?" I wondered aloud. I had once heard in my previous life that Superman had a metal named after himself, so I don't see why I shouldn't have one too.

"I swear your obsession with Bats is getting worse every day, Tiger. You have got to check yourself before you fall too far." Selina commented while silently entering the cave without making a single sound.

"I already have Kitty. It is too late for me now. I have already dedicated my entire super/vigilante life to the theme of bats. You should take a lesson from me and save yourself by staying away from cats and cat-themed stuff." I sighed as I carefully kept the two swords back in their places. "Anyway, why are you here? I thought you all were supposed to have a ladies' night out today?" I asked curiously while raising one of my eyebrows.

"Oh, I was looking for the perfume that you made me. I have been using it quite a lot recently and my entire bottle ran out. So, I need some before I go and party tonight with the girls. Its smell reminds me of you and your power over me while giving me the feeling that I belong to you completely." She casually answered with a small giggle as she went through all the various chemicals stored in my laboratory while sniffing them all in her search for her 'perfume'.

"... What I gave you wasn't perfume. It was an olfactory-based inhibitor derived directly from the pheromones produced by my body that neutralizes your extreme sexual arousal and desire for me while also preventing your own body from producing the pheromones that are meant to sexually excite me, thus saving both of us from being horny dogs all the time." I responded. "Also, there is a perfume bottle in the third glass locker to your left," I answered.

"It was so fun, wasn't it? We should do this again sometime. Maybe we can go on a date again next Friday?" A man who looked like he was in his mid-forties asked with a slightly blushing face. "Forgive me if the date today was weird, I have never dated a doctor before, nor have I ever dated someone so young." The man said in a giddy and excited voice.

"It's okay, I didn't expect too much anyway. After all, I loved the fact that you talked about your inferiority complex with your elder brother for more than half of our date, it was SO entertaining. Also, I am a psychologist, not the type of doctor you are expecting me to be." The girl who was in her early twenties answered in a flat tone of voice, trying to make it clear how disinterested she was in having another date with him.

But unfortunately for the man, he didn't realize that fact at all. "Yeah, potato potato. I'll call you later to confirm the date then and don't worry, I'll get your phone number from Lisa." The man quickly said with a large grin before the girl could reject him and began to leave without even giving her a chance to retort.

"Fuck." The girl whispered in frustration a few minutes after the man had left at the thought of having to spend another evening with a creep like him. She wouldn't have agreed to go on even a single date with him if she knew that he was such a jerk.

In her defense, she harbored no desire for romantic entanglements. It was solely at the behest of her only friend that she even entertained the notion at all. Armed with the skills of a gifted psychologist, she found most individuals as easy to read as an open book before her discerning gaze, their flaws, and secrets laid bare without effort. This uncanny ability rendered life devoid of intrigue or exhilaration, leaving her disenchanted and detached while further disinteresting her from trying to make a relationship work.

'Even if I were to get into a serious relationship one day, my boyfriend should be one hell of a Cassanova or a walking sex machine for me to ever fall in love since getting genuinely attracted to a guy because of his personality is almost impossible for someone like me. All guys have terrible personalities. I would much rather fall in love with a big dick than wait for something that doesn't even exist.' She thought to herself as she watched her date leave in his car without even asking her if she wanted a lift. "Yeah, like I am ever going to go on another date with you. Over my dead body, Hmph." She grumbled to herself as she lamented the fact that she decided not to bring her car today.

'Maybe, I should just walk.' Normally, she would have just waited for a cab but for some reason, she had suddenly begun feeling a strange sensation like someone was observing her. She could feel a sense of danger to her life, prompting her to quickly start walking towards her home as she dismissed the needless worries and fear in her mind as nothing, but accumulated frustration born from overwork and the absence of a healthy social life.

But what she didn't know was that the strange feeling wasn't just a trick of her mind, there really was a shadow that was silently following her trail like a predator hungry for food following after its helpless prey.
