131 Fighting The Variant (3)

Blake didn’t know if it was only his feelings or his imagination, but the fact that he could feel the variant type demon felt a slight disappointment when he decided to go back down to the ground felt quite real that he began to think that the variant type demon was essentially only playing games with him.

‘If you want to play games then let’s play!’ Blake exclaimed inward before he put one of his hands into his dimensional pouch while the other started drawing more runes.

While his right hand was searching for the specially prepared rune formations that he had made beforehand, his left hand was non-stop drawing darkness bullet runes towards the human-sized fireball.

His left hand moved so fast in drawing those runes that he had already created another set of runes even when the first had only flashed before disappearing.

The darkness bullets’ speed was fast and the variant type demon would have to use the small explosions if it were to try and dodge around the barrage of darkness bullets.

Along with the way Blake shot those darkness bullets in a certain pattern, it was impossible for the variant type demon to only be moving sideways to dodge his attacks.

The variant type demon would have to use the tiny explosions to move its body up, duck down, fly diagonally, then sideways if it wanted to completely dodge his darkness bullets.

And that was exactly Blake’s intention as he wanted to get back to the variant type demon for making him fly around, doing barrel rolls, and weird erratic movements while they were still in the air.

However, the variant type demon was too smart for Blake to be playing around with as it had already found a way to deal with Blake’s darkness bullets without it having to fly around silly.

.....

When the darkness bullets came towards the variant type demon with great speed, the man-sized fireball didn’t even move an inch sideways or up and down.

The variant type demon just stood still while at the same time sending its own fireballs toward the incoming darkness bullets.

Despite the darkness bullets were made up of denser darkness elements compared to the fireballs that weren’t as dense in fire element, with the sheer quantity of it, the fireballs were able to snuff out the dense darkness bullet after the darkness bullets had to go through 3 fireballs back to back.

The variant type demon was different from Blake. It didn’t need to draw a single rune to cast those fireballs. With just a thought and a simple gesture, fireballs would appear in front of its body and send flying in the direction that it wants.

And hence the reason why no matter how fast Blake wanted to cast his darkness bullets, the fireballs would appear faster and neutralize his darkness bullet spell.

‘Oh, what a fair ability it is to throw an inexhaustible amount of fireballs without drawing a single rune.’ Blake rolled his eyes when he thought of this.

Seeing how cheat-like the variant’s ability was, Blake couldn’t help but complain inwardly as he kept his darkness bullets coming towards it for a while despite his right hand already found the rune formations that he wanted to use.

‘Now let’s see how you will fare against this.’ Blake smiled widely as he changed the runes that he drew with his left hand from the darkness bullet spell to another spell.

In just about 1 and a half seconds, Blake drew two sets of runes with his left hand alone.

It was possible because the rune was a relatively simple one, and Blake also focused a lot on making sure that his finger moved in a correct manner so as to let him have a better flow to increase his drawing speed.

When the darkness bullets stopped coming out of Blake’s fingers, so did the fireballs cease from being sent by the variant type demon.

And the variant type demon just stood there watching Blake with observant eyes, if it had one, seemingly excitedly waiting for Blake’s next move that would entertain it.

However, the variant type demon was caught off guard when it suddenly felt nether gathering on the ground near its body.

More precisely, at its back.

Remembering what kind of spells that came towards it a few moments ago, the variant type demon had learned that any nether that came from the ground had a chance to be able to trap itself in another dark brownish cage that was hard to break.

So the variant type demon quickly decided to go in the complete opposite direction of where the gathering of nether happened, which was to move forward.

However, just when the variant type demon barely moved its body forward, another gathering of nether appeared right below it, on the location where its body was supposed to land.

Knowing what would happen if it just let itself land on top of the nether-filled ground, the variant type demon decided to cause a small explosion to abruptly change the direction of its moving body.

With the chain attack coming from Blake, the variant type demon’s attention was completely drawn to them, making sure that it didn’t get caught off guard by another spell.

However, with the variant type demon’s attention fully occupied by the gathering of nether around it, how could it notice another moving gathering nether that was currently flying directly towards it?

It wasn’t a darkness bullet, but instead, it was a wooden ball that was filled with inscriptions all over its surface.

And currently, the inscriptions had all started to glow brighter and brighter before finally flashing when it had arrived right in front of the variant type demon’s body.

When the demonic runes flashed and the spell manifested itself, dozens of darkness tendrils came out of the wooden ball and quickly went towards the nearest creature that it could detect, which was the variant type demon.

The wooden ball was inscribed with a modified version of Vera’s original darkness binding spell. And Blake purposely made it function similarly to the second realm darkness binding spell where a ball of darkness would then sprout out dozens of darkness tendrils and incapacitate its enemies.

With its focus spread in all different directions, the variant type demon failed to notice the incoming rune formation in time and the darkness tendrils had successfully latched themselves onto the variant’s body.

The variant type demon recognized the same feeling that it felt when the first darkness tendrils latched onto its feet a few minutes ago, but now the feeling was spread all over its body as the darkness tendrils all came out at the same time and they all instantly latched onto the variant’s body.

So the variant type demon quickly did the same thing as it did back then and increased the heat that was released around its body and started melting the darkness tendrils.

However, the variant type demon wasn’t the only one who knew that it could do something like that to get itself free of the darkness tendrils.

Hence why the moment the darkness tendrils had successfully caught onto the variant type demon’s body, another rune formation, a wooden cube, had already arrived in front of the variant type demon’s face.
