134 The Group’s Decision (1)
“So it purposely focuses the heat to break the two constructs from the same side to free itself... It’s more intelligent than I thought it would be...” Blake muttered out loud.
Then several moments later, Vera came walking leisurely before asking,
“You’re not gonna chase it, Blake?”
“No... I don’t know why, but I feel there’s something with the variant type demon. The look in its eyes is different from the look of any other demonic beasts and humanoid demons that I’ve fought so far.”
“Oh? Why is that?” Vera asked, genuinely curious.
“I don’t really know... But there’s this look of... affection? No... It was more like it had found something that it had been looking for for a long time...”
“Or at least that’s how I would describe it if I have ever seen such a look.”
Hearing Blake’s answer, Vera only nodded her head in silence before shaking her head and muttering, “Well, variants are unpredictable so we could never know what they were thinking.”
Blake then looked towards the tall earth mound where the variant type demon had gone to. Then seeing that there was no sign of the variant type demon after the first initial explosions, he mumbled, “Yeah... I guess you’re right.”
.....
Vera then walked over to see the dark earth constructs that Blake made. She observed the whole thing for a few moments before speaking,
“Nice work on using the rune formations. I see that you already combined multiple spells into a single rune formation to create a more complex spell.”
“I will teach you later how to use other demons’ blood to create a rune formation that contains a spell that you didn’t have an affinity with.”
“Thank you, Vera!” Blake instantly rejoiced, shoving away his thoughts and curiosity about the variant type demon to the back of his mind.
How could he not be excited? Just imagining himself creating and using his own fire tornado blender was already enough to get him pumped up from just thinking about it.
“But you have to learn not to instantly kill and eat the souls of the demon that you have defeated.” Vera quickly interjected.
“We need to draw their blood when they are still alive as the blood will still carry their nether within them. If you draw their blood after they died, then it would just be any other ordinary blood,” She explained even before Blake could ask why he couldn’t eat the souls.
“Can you do that?” Vera looked at his student who seemingly loves to eat souls very much. Not that it was a bad thing considering all demons needed to eat souls to make themselves stronger.
But remembering how Blake seemed to have a tendency to eat souls even more than an ordinary demon, evident from his reaction when she used the combined rune formations to create the fire tornado and killed the 19 humanoid demons, Vera just making sure that her dear apprentice wasn’t addicted to souls as it would cause another set of complicated problems for demons.
“Of course!” Blake quickly exclaimed.
‘I can hold myself off and eat the souls later after I draw enough blood from it.’ Blake thought to himself.
“That’s good then, we should do it the next time we meet any demons with an affinity that you don’t have.” Vera nodded in satisfaction and relief when he saw Blake’s instant response to agreeing not to eat a soul.
“Okay!”
After the short exchange between the two, the group then started to discuss what they should do now that they had arrived in the main continent.
Well, it was more like Blake and Vera that did all the talking while Robus just sat there, looking around at the new unfamiliar place that he had never been to.
Seeing the tall earth mounds and the incredibly large plains with scarce trees found here and there, it was certainly a new sight for Robus who had only seen a sea of trees in his whole life.
Looking at such a huge expanse of land that only consists of grass and earth mounds already gave him a foreign feeling despite he had just arrived and hadn’t traveled anywhere in the foreign lands.
On the other side, Blake and Vera were still talking about their next move.
Vera didn’t tell him about what they would be doing on the main continent, but he could piece things together on his own after what had happened on the island where they had stayed before.
“Vera, just to be sure, our objective, while we’re on the main continent, is to get stronger while also investigating the humanoid demons, right?”
“Yes.”
“Your main goal here is to get stronger with Robus. I will do most of the investigating myself as I don’t have to get stronger anymore.”
“I still need to evolve, but I can’t do it here in this realm. I can only do that when I get back to the realm where I came from.”
“If you and Robus had evolved, then I can just simply follow you guys through the second realm. So you guys better focus on getting yourselves stronger while we are here.”
“That makes sense...” Blake muttered while nodding his head.
“So how should we do it then? Should we go to the nearest humanoid demons’ village or city or whatever place they are currently gathering in?”
Blake then recalled the shore that wasn’t too far away from their current location, the shore where hundreds of humanoid demons were gathering in one place before he continued saying,
“Should we go to the other shore? Me and Robus can hunt whatever demons we found around the area while you try to learn more about what happened with the humanoid demons.”
Hearing Blake’s suggestion, Vera stayed silent for more than 15 seconds with her right hand placed on her chin, she looked down to the ground, seemingly thinking hard about something.
Then after releasing her hand from her chin and taking a deep breath, Vera finally answered,
“No.”
“Then how should we do it?” Blake tilted his head in confusion.
“I will leave you and Robus alone while I will travel the main continent on my own.”
