174 A Week of Traveling
Blake’s, Cyra’s, and Robus’ journey for the past week could be said to be quite mundane.
Yes, they have been traveling for a whole week going from one of the humanoid demon bases to another. Blake thought that their journey wouldn’t really be a short one considering the distance seen on the map on the wall was not close either.
However, he expected a few days of journey, not a one-week type of thing. If not for the demonic beasts that he met along the way giving him and the group souls to eat and also some of them were the type that Blake had never seen before like a very huge snake as tall and wide as Robus and as long as two basketball courts that gave 9 souls that pulled in his interest, then Blake would have been very bored out of his mind.
The case was the same with Robus, but Cyra didn’t have that much thought about leveling up and getting stronger so the progress to the souls she had eaten didn’t really matter very much to her.
Fortunately, Blake kept his promise and played with her every day, giving her the satisfaction that she needed.
Moreover, from their ‘play time’ Blake had actually used it to practice his fire element control and also improve his spell casting.
Almost every day when Blake and Cyra played with each other by throwing dangerous fireballs and flying around everywhere by using explosions, Blake’s control over the fire elements got exponentially better that Blake could now mimic Cyra’s ability to control the fire elements that went out of his body instead of just throwing fireballs around.
After playing around with the fire elements more, Blake found out that the fire elements that he commanded after using the bloodline power that he got from Cyra, had actually improved his own control over his nether.
It was quite apparent from the very first time that Blake tried to send nether to his hands but instead sent them outside his body instead, but now that Blake had intentionally done it instead of it being an accident, Blake found out that the nether in his body really did move with just a simple thought of his instead of him trying to actively move them.
.....
His nether control before was already the cream of the crop as he could even achieve the same speed that the humanoid demons from the deeper demon realms were able to cast their spells within a second or under as opposed to the natives that could only cast a spell in much or less 3 whole seconds.
But if Blake activated the bloodline power he got from Cyra, his nether control was at least doubled and Blake could probably cast his spells in an instant if not for the fact that his fingers couldn’t move as fast as his mind think.
However, after some time playing around with the bloodline power that he kept active almost all the time, Blake eventually found out other ways how the bloodline power had benefited him.
First and foremost of the benefits that he recognized instantly was how his nether now carried innate fire element inside it, just like everything that Cyra do, every attack or every defense she created was all related to the fire elements, Blake’s spell had also been imbued by fire elements even though he didn’t draw the runes for them.
It was as if his body had naturally converted the nether from his environment to the fire element inside his body, causing the ordinary spells that he cast to carry or imbued with the fire elements now.
Some of his spells just basically got an upgrade, just like how the darkness bullet would now give a larger explosion after it landed on its target because of the fire elements contained inside the bundle of darkness elements, and the ability to combine a dark flame fireball with the darkness bullet.
Also with his darkness tendril related spells like the darkness binding spell, the darkness spikes spell, and the myriad of darkness tendril spell, all of the darkness tendrils now were burning with the same dark flame that came out of Blake’s and Cyra’s body.
The darkness tendrils were covered in dark flame and now a simple darkness binding spell would even be lethal because the flames kept on burning the enemies trapped inside it and would soon kill it.
‘I should definitely turn off the bloodline power if I don’t want to kill anyone right away and destroy their bodies...’ Blake made a mental note to himself when he accidentally killed a demonic rhino with his darkness binding spell even though he wanted to kill it cleanly to try and eat its meat.
However, the best, or rather, the most unexpected upgrade he got to his arsenal of spells by the bloodline power was his original marking spell.
Be it the basic marking spell that could only mark one target at a time and he did need to aim them or even the mass marking spell that could mark multiple targets at the same time without aiming and he only needed to be close enough to his target, both of those spells really got a massive upgrade.
And Blake had found that out while he was fighting the ginormous snake that he met on his way.
Due to how big the snake was and how its scales were tough and not that easy to be lit on fire, different from the skin of the humanoid demons that could even start burning with a small spark of the dark flame, Blake thought that he would need the marking spell to make it easier for him to hit the enormous thing.
However, with the ‘Child of The Dark Flame’ Bloodline power already activated when Blake cast the marking spell, the original spell had changed, and now the marking spell also carried the fire elements inside it.
And also different from the darkness bullet spell that would make contact with its target before exploding all the darkness element and fire elements inside it, the marking spell didn’t work like that.
The moment the marking spell made contact with the snake’s huge body, the marking soon latched itself into the snake’s body and stayed there without any way for the snake to remove it.
If it was the original marking spell, then the snake wouldn’t even feel the marking spell latching onto its scale. However, now that it was imbued with the fire elements, that wouldn’t be the case at all.
The marking spell that now contained the fire elements, just like how it slowly but surely released small amounts of darkness elements from the bundled elements to be a mark that guided other spells to move towards it, the fire elements that were contained inside it were now also being released gradually by the marking spell.
However, the fire elements that were released didn’t just act as a beacon. The fire elements that had been released from the bundle of darkness and fire elements turned to the same dark flame, which means that now the huge snake had a constant source of fire latching onto its body, slowly but surely burning off the hard scales and piercing inside its body.
The darkness bullet might be strong enough to break through the snake’s scales due to how explosive its nature was. But it wasn’t as effective in doing damage to the internals of the snake’s body.
While the marking spell, on the other hand, did the latter very well in fact that Blake decided to spam the marking spell on the snake’s body.
And with at least 25 marking spells spread all around the snake’s body, the incredibly huge reptile soon found its innards being charred from the inside before the soul orb then floated out of its unmoving body.
‘All my spells would be dangerous with this bloodline power activated...’ Blake thought to himself as the marking spells still latched themselves onto the snake’s body and kept on burning what remains of the huge snake even though it was already dead.
Blake didn’t have any plans to eat the snake because back then when he was still in the human world, he heard stories of people feeling the snakes slither around inside their bellies after they ate snake meat. So he didn’t think much about ruining the snake’s body to take its meat.
But seeing the poor almost unrecognizable snake carcass being burned thoroughly by the dark flame, even Blake began to think about not activating his fire bloodline power all the time.
“But I guess this would help a lot if I need to clear out evidence...” He muttered out loud when he saw even the huge bones were burned by the dark flame.
Other than the straightforward benefits from the bloodline power, there was also another one that had given Blake the ability to do the same thing as the flying humanoid demon from the deeper demon realm.
The bloodline power’s ability that doubled his control of the nether had also given him Blake the ability to cast 4 spells at the same time, just like how the flying humanoid demon did it.
Blake had to use the bloodline power to do it because it was still hard for him to do it without the boost, but the fact that he was still able to do it was enough for Blake to feel very satisfied with it.
And with that new ability, Blake was now able to use the dark flame fireball and the darkness bullet spell combination using only one hand, which means that he would be able to cast two of the spell combinations at the same time.
He would first draw the runes for the darkness bullet spell, put them to the side, and start pumping out his raw nether to make the dark flame fireball. And after there were enough fire elements in the dark flame fireball, Blake moved the darkness bullet runes back in before letting it manifest itself.
That spell combination had one shotted quite a formidable enemy that even had 7 worth of souls inside them, giving a similar yet downgraded result if Blake were to use his second realm darkness bullet spell.
With the massive improvements he got after the past week of traveling, Blake was now more than ready to meet his enemies at the second humanoid base.
And with the base now finally in sight, Blake told the group to rest up and observe the situation around the surroundings first, properly this time, as he made up another plan to burn the base to the ground again.
