201 Meat Barriers
With the distance between the darkness bullets and the necromancer only being a second apart, it might seem like there would be no way for the necromancer and the wolf to dodge the two darkness bullets.
However, the split second the wolf knew that its attempt to mitigate the darkness bullets using its bolt of lighting had failed, the wolf instantly utilized the other function of its bloodline power.
Creating sparks of lightning by sending nether through its bloodline power runes, the sparks of lightning then spread all over the wolf’s body instead of being gathered to a single point to shoot as a projectile.
The wolf’s body released a faint glow as sparks of lightning appeared here and there all over its body. The lightning filled the wolf’s body with power, pushing its capabilities to the next level.
While the dark flame bullets moved at an incredibly fast speed, one that even Robus could not just casually dodge, the wolf having its body charged by lightning from its bloodline power was not a joke either.
Different from the case when Blake could see the muscular humanoid demon’s body becoming a blur while he was moving at an inhumane speed, the case with the wolf was different.
Without a single blur, a single sound, or even any visible cue, the wolf looked as if it had just disappeared from its place, letting the dark flame bullets hit the ground where the wolf and the necromancer were standing a split second ago, causing a resounding boom to spread in the surroundings while the dark flame explosion had successfully caught onto the demon mages positioned around the wolf and the necromancer.
Blake’s eyes scanned the area, spending no more than just a few seconds to finally recognize the huge wolf standing about a couple of meters away from its original position.
It did not actually require Blake to sweep his eye on the ground to find the huge wolf and the necromancer that had somehow disappeared in his vision earlier, but the wolf’s movements were smooth and were under the cover of the dust cloud that his dark flame bullets had created, making it seem as if they had the ability to just teleport a few meters backward.
.....
However, no matter how calm the wolf looked, the evident shaking that happened on the necromancer’s body, forcing the scrawny jet-black humanoid demon to almost hug the huge wolf demonic beast to prevent itself from falling over, showed that the wolf had indeed moved incredibly fast instead of just teleporting using its bloodline power.
And connecting the two dots between sparks of lightning that he saw earlier with lightning-speed movement was not hard for Blake, a look of understanding plastered on his face as he learned of a new application of the wolf’s bloodline power other than sending bolts of lightning and sending electricity to stun their enemies using their bites.
However, with the quick exchange between the two sides, Blake wasn’t the only one who had learned of something. On the other side of the fight, the necromancer, who had thought of Blake and Cyra as nothing more than annoying flies that get in its way, now had completely registered Blake’s and Cyra’s existence as a real enemy that it needed to deal with.
Sensing their master’s rage towards the two creatures flying in the sky above them, all demons in the demon horde turned their heads in Blake’s direction.
Be it the ones that were positioned in the middle of the horde and already took notice of him and had thrown stones and bones towards him, the demons at the back of the horde who had cast attack spells at him, and the demons that stood in front of the horde and had completely ignored him at the start, now all had their eyes on Blake, seemingly looking at the one who was responsible for forcing them to be the necromancer’s minion.
Suddenly gaining the ire of hundreds of demons in just a second, Blake couldn’t help but unconsciously swallow his saliva, straightening his back, and keeping his mind alert to any kind of attack that might come at him at any second.
And that waiting did not turn into a long one as just one second after those stares filled with hatred locked onto him, the attacks soon rained down on him.
The demons at the back of the horde once again drew demonic runes in the air, demon mages casting their spells to hit him down. The demons in the middle of the horde had intensified their attempts at throwing rocks and bones, even grabbing the bones of the weaker demons from the front part of the horde. And the demons that ran in front of the horde began stopping their forward advance, missing the humanoid demon’s wall by about 50 meters.
And instead of trying to run through the wall, the mindless demons now had their eyes locked on Blake, following his movements whenever he moved out of the horde’s range, essentially becoming the new ‘forward’ that the horde was moving into.
Whichever direction Blake went to, the horde followed behind him, despite them not even being able to touch him with Blake flying higher in the sky, they kept on moving in his direction until the horde would be directly below him and the demons in the front had also started throwing rocks and bones towards him in an attempt to bring him down.
Avoiding direct confrontation with such a massive number of demons in one place was a given considering that Blake’s power wasn’t necessarily able to give him the ability to fight off against waves of demon zombies that did not care a single bit about pain or their lives as long as they could land a hit on him.
Blake did not believe the zombies would have the ability to turn other demons into one of their kin just by scratching a part of their bodies like the zombies that Blake had seen on TVs before, but he did not want to try and find that out using his own body or Cyra’s, hence why he just kept flying at a high enough altitude that the stones and bones of those zombies would not reach him while Cyra’s fireballs would be able to still hit the horde of clustered demons.
It took Blake no more than a few movements to find out that the demon horde behind him already had a new target in mind, which was him, and it was now time for him to commence the next part of his plan.
Using his body as a guide for the demon zombies to run to, Blake forced the demons following behind him to go into the woods on the left side of the humanoid demon base, the complete opposite side of the part of the woods where Robus was currently lying in wait.
The next part of his plan after he got the demon zombies’ attention was none other than to lead them into the forest, using the advantage of the terrain to give him the edge in the fight against the large horde of enemies.
The forest’s natural terrain was filled with trees standing side by side, thick roots coming out of the ground, bushes, and uneven grounds filling every inch of the area, essentially making it impossible for an army to march inside it without breaking their formation or gaining a large momentum for a charge.
They would be forced to turn left and right to dodge the trees with incredibly thick trunks that couldn’t be simply run over, adjust their speed to navigate steadily in uneven grounds, and not few of the bushes were filled with thorns, creating holes and cuts on anyone who was reckless enough to run straight into them.
And in a battle where he was the one with fewer numbers of people, only 3 of them in fact, it would only be foolish for Blake to not use the forest to his advantage.
Blake went deep enough into the forest until most of the horde, about three-quarters of them had entered the forest, leaving only the back of the horde, the necromancer and its mount, along with the demon mages standing outside the forest.
However, instead of going deeper into the forest, Blake took a hard right turn, changing the direction that he was going in from the left side of the humanoid demon base to its right side where Robus was currently waiting.
And just as he had expected, the necromancer and the demon mages did not go into the forest when they saw Blake suddenly changing directions. Instead of tailing behind the horde, they just moved sideways, changing the shape of the demon horde from a straight vertical line forward to a straight horizontal line sideways.
Simply said, the horde that used to have the necromancer standing on the backmost of the group, now had the necromancer positioned on the rightmost side of the group, walking in a horizontal line with its horde.
In this position, not only was the horde spread thin inside the forest, the necromancer had lost most of the meat barriers that protected him, which was one of the most broken advantages that he had in the fight with Blake.
