249 Finishing The Evolution (3)
With the plethora of spells in his arsenal, Blake had a lot of options he could choose from. And if his goal was to simply defeat the humanoid demon without any strings attached, then a single spell instantly came to his mind.
One that had never really failed him before. There was a moment where the spell failed to do its job to kill Blake’s target in one hit, but it was due to his own incapabilities, overestimating his nether capacity and almost falling unconscious at the last second before the spell was aimed properly.
But other than that, Blake trusted this spell as much as he trusted himself to do its job. Different from back then when he had exhausted his nether, the current Blake had a significantly larger nether capacity and he had not been spending his nether a lot before he started fighting the humanoid demon.
He did spend quite an amount when he traversed the black barren lands, but he got more than enough time to recover all the nether that he had spent before due to the high nether recovery speed that he had in the nether rich zone.
Moreover, in the current nether rich zone environment, Blake’s nether recovery speed had increased to what it used to be before a part of his soul was damaged, making him recover nether as fast as the dark flame variant demoness that was traveling with him.
With those considerations in mind, the spell that Blake chose to hit the humanoid demon from afar was none other than the second realm darkness bullet spell.
It could be said to be a cheat considering none of his enemies were able to cast spells of the second realm while they were in the first realm. Not even Vera who came from even deeper realms than the second realm could use it due to the quality of nether in the first demon realm being remarkably lower than the second realm.
However, being fair was none of Blake’s concern. If he got an edge over the others, he would only be foolish if he didn’t use it. Especially when he was currently living in a world where the people living inside it couldn’t care less about anything else other than eating souls and getting themselves stronger.
Having morals and thinking about what was considered cheating or not was never in their concern ever since the moment they were birthed into the world until their descent to the next realm. They would only focus on the latter, not thinking about the former even a tiny bit.
.....
Blake didn’t waste more time after he made the decision as he made sure that he was distanced far enough from the humanoid demon to be able to spend two to three seconds casting the second realm darkness spell properly before finally standing still with his feet firm on the ground.
The distance between Blake and the humanoid demon was still quite far away from the safe distance that Blake had found out by trial and error, and him spending 2 to 3 seconds just standing still wasn’t anything dangerous as the humanoid demon walked very slowly and it would take not a short amount of time for it to reach close enough to Blake to release its attacks again.
As a result, Blake was unhindered as he finished drawing the set of runes needed to cast the second realm darkness bullet spell, and even when the nether around him began to surge like a river into the floating set of runes, swallowing twice or even three times the amount of nether that the humanoid demon had swallowed so far.
Blake guessed that the humanoid demon might have shown a different reaction when it noticed such an abundant amount of nether suddenly gathering a distance away from it. And Blake was ready to use his wings and feet to dodge if the humanoid demon suddenly made an abrupt move to chase him.
However, despite Blake’s caution and suspiciousness of the situation that seemingly favored him too much, the humanoid demon still didn’t make a single move that was different from what it had been doing so far.
No matter how much nether had the runes of the second realm darkness had gathered as it prepared itself to launch the spell, the humanoid still walked leisurely towards Blake, slowly dragging its feet as if it had all the time in the world.
So when the second realm darkness bullet spell finally manifested into the world, Blake opened up his eyes wide and kept his guard up as he watched every detail that would happen at the moment when his second realm darkness bullet spell hit the humanoid demon.
‘Wait, the condensed darkness elemental stone couldn’t be destroyed by the second realm darkness bullet spell, right…?’ The thought suddenly came to Blake’s head as the darkness bullet left its shell and shot straight at the humanoid demon. Moving twice the speed of the usual darkness bullet spell, making it impossible for Blake to really catch a glimpse of anything.
Blake might not have been able to track the movement of the bullet and how it would hit his target, the humanoid demon. However, Blake knew where he had to look, and of course, he looked towards the humanoid demon which would soon showcase the might of the darkness bullet spell.
*BOOM!!!*
Blake didn’t even need to wait for a whole second as a large boom echoed in the surroundings, telling him that the second realm darkness bullet spell had been successfully manifested into the world and it had hit something, preferably his target.
And with his eyes locked onto the humanoid demon, Blake soon noticed the dust cloud that appeared right after the explosion announced itself into the world.
His guess would be the darkness bullet spell had shot past the humanoid demon’s body and it had crashed against the black barren land, causing the thick dust cloud that covered everything around the collision site of the spell and the humanoid demon.
And Blake had thought of that theory as a matter of fact until the last second when he suddenly noticed a silhouette was slowly yet surely walking out of the dust cloud.
The silhouette took a couple more steps forward, finally releasing itself from the smokescreen of the dust cloud. And when it had walked forward, Blake could finally see the humanoid demon once again.
It wasn’t that shocking to him to see the humanoid demon survive. He knew that the situation was far too beneficial for him and it got him on his toes. But knowing that the humanoid demon wasn’t as easy to defeat, gave him a slight calmness in his mind.
Unfortunately for Blake, the slight calmness that he had suddenly disappeared into pure wariness as he saw the humanoid demon’s body that was free of any kind of wounds.
From the top of his forehead which was planted with the condensed darkness elemental stone, to the humanoid demon’s toes that looked like any ordinary humanoid demon, there wasn’t a single drop of blood or a little scratch on the humanoid demon’s body.
It just came out of the dust cloud unscathed as if it didn’t have a second realm darkness bullet spell aimed straight toward itself.
‘What the f- just happened…?’ Blake squinted his eyes as he scanned the top of the humanoid demon’s head to the back of his feet. And even after getting as close as possible to the humanoid demon without activating its ‘attack mode’ Blake still couldn’t see a single wound on the humanoid demon’s skin.
‘How did it do that? Wait no, what did it do??’ Huge question marks appeared in Blake’s mind as he tried to figure out where his second realm darkness bullet spell went so that it didn’t hurt the humanoid demon at all.
He heard the loud boom, and he saw the dust cloud, even now, the dust cloud still hadn’t completely dissipated yet due to the strength of the attack. But here he was, seeing the humanoid demon walking fine and dandy after getting out of the dust cloud.
‘The only way such a thing could happen was if the darkness bullet spell had actually missed its target.’ Blake quickly found a plausible scenario in his mind.
‘But no. I remember I aimed the spell precisely. Maybe a millimeter or a centimeter off, but it wasn’t enough for the humanoid demon to come out without a single scratch.’
The scene just happened really fast, Blake couldn’t see anything after the second realm darkness bullet had finished manifesting, and in the next moment, the dust cloud was everything that he could see.
‘I need to study more about this…’
Blake once again distanced himself from the humanoid demon, planning to shoot another spell toward the humanoid demon.
But this time, Blake didn’t want to use the second realm darkness bullet spell for the second time even though he had the nether capacity to do that now in the nether rich environment.
The second realm spell was too powerful for him to be able to analyze anything. He couldn’t keep up with its speed at all. It would be a bad choice for Blake if Blake wanted to study the humanoid demon properly.
So this time, Blake cast a simple darkness bullet spell, a spell from the first demon realm.
And finally, after the spell manifested itself and flew towards the humanoid demon, Blake could finally see with his own two eyes how the condensed ball of darkness elements that should have hit the humanoid demon’s body was rapidly dismantled into countless pieces as it neared the humanoid demon.
Leaving nothing behind but empty air as it arrived at the humanoid demon’s body.
