[Vorn's POV]
I flew at maximum speed to the location where the scientific group was. Since I can only teleport to the nearest town, I can't immediately meet them.
"This dragon has not attacked the carriage we brought, my lord!" Xenora's voice reached my ears via the long-distance communication feature. "I and the other succubi are still attracting its attention, but we don't know how long it will last!"
"I'll be there in a moment, Xenora," I answered while trying to be as calm as possible. I didn't want her to panic even more. "Hang in there."
I was wondering why a dragon appeared when I was about to face the prophet? That fantastic creature rarely emerged and had almost become a myth in this world. If not a few people saw or claimed to have fought against them, people would definitely forget about those beasts.
Is it just a coincidence?
Or is it that God doesn't want my plan to work?
No, I've met God face to face, and he doesn't care what we do. That cosmic being is just watching us.
Finally, I saw a winged lizard with crimson scales from a distance. Several succubi flew around it, and some of them were hit by the flames from the dragon's mouth. Their bodies fell with smoke.
Shit. I hope Xenora isn't one of them.
I've also found the carriage containing the scientists. The undeads were trying their best to move that thing as fast as they could. Emily even chose to fly near them on a wyvern. It seemed she wanted to ensure her lackeys used their abilities to the fullest.
And finally, the dragon no longer cares about the succubus. That creature changed course. Instead of attacking the carriage, that beast just flew towards me.
I see. That beast wasn't aiming for the carriage but was waiting for me.
"Xenora and the others! Just take care of that carriage!" I screamed with all my might to them. "Let this dragon be my business."
I maneuvered to avoid his flames, then prepared to kick him in the neck. However, that creature surprisingly can move swiftly despite its 30 feet body length. He dodged me, flew a ninety-degree turn, and sprayed me with fire again.
The two of us kept maneuvering, dodging, and attacking each other, but we had yet to manage to land a hit. At this rate, this battle would never end.
I have to do something different.
And while thinking that, I saw the dragon below me, already opened its mouth, ready to give a blast of fire for the umpteenth time.
I felt intense heat when the burst of flames hit me, even though my metal armor is special. And in a split second after that, I flew down, towards the dragon, against the fire current.
Yes, I purposely let my body burn to do this. Before long, the fire was gone. I had dived into my enemy.
I noticed the dragon would stay in place for a few seconds after spitting fire. I can't take advantage of that time if I have to dodge first.
So, I was determined to take that gamble, even though the heat gripped my whole body, my wings were smoking, and the feathers were falling.
I know how far my two wings can last.
Now I can dart into that creature's right eye, and he doesn't have time to dodge.
I punched the organ of vision with all my might, causing a strong explosion of blood and, at the same time, triggering the dragon to let out a deafening roar.
My game paid off. Yes, my flying ability has decreased, but my opponent can't keep up with my movements as well as before.
So, I continued to give combinations of fists and kicks to the dragon's blind spot. My opponent was unable to fight back because of that.
I know that my attacks have a significant impact. Many times this creature let out roars of pain. It may take a long time to finish him, but I got this.
Seeing the dragon's flight become erratic, I maneuvered my way up and away from that creature. I was about to dive again and kick the dragon, but I gave up my intention as flames rapidly coursed through the creature's body.
What? Did I manage to defeat that beast? I haven't even put out my ultimate move yet.
The dragon started to fall down. And gradually, I realized one thing. That creature's body looks like it is rapidly disintegrating.
Instead of celebrating the victory, I was even more cautious. This is too weird. Could it be that he would teleport and appear from somewhere else?
I looked right and left as the flames burning the dragon also started to dissipate.
And suddenly, my ears caught the sound of a loud explosion. I looked down at the origin of the sound. Something shot out of the flames, heading for me.
I shifted away, but it was too late. That humanoid-shaped thing caught one of my wings, tugging at them really hard. Then, with great force, that beings threw me.
All I could see were the swirling scenery.
Shit. It looks like my left wing got dislocated due to the intense force of that being's throw. I felt pain in that part and could not maneuver.
My body continued to dive and finally landed in a forest area. I could feel that I was crashing into the trees and stopped after hitting a cliff.
The pain all over my body made me want to stay still and rest, even for a moment. However, I knew the humanoid being would come any minute.
There's no mistaking it. That being is another form of the dragon I fought earlier. That creature can't resist me anymore in his huge lizard shape.
I glanced at my left wing, which was now drooping weakly. So, that creature wants to fight me on land, huh? Very well, I'm ready to face him.
And not long after, I heard fast-approaching footsteps.
