I have felt a lot of physical and mental pain while 'playing' in this fantasy world. However, why am I still hanging on? Can't I just stop and move on with my life? Maybe I can play another, friendlier game?
I thought it was just because of all the characters here, from my women, my demonic underlings, to the humans. They all adore me and are so loyal to me. I have never found a traitor among them yet.
It turned out that my achievements also provided me invaluable things. Maybe because it all turned out to be real, I felt immeasurable satisfaction. One example is when I got the prophet.
Yes, not only defeated a God's servant, but I also confined her. Before long, the attention of the whole world will be on me. Who doesn't like that?
And another one of my greatest accomplishments is now in front of me. The scientists from the capital finally came to my base. They looked around, their body shaking, some gulped, and some even cried.
It's normal for them to be afraid.
I rose from the throne and spread my arms. Ayre played his lute, spreading a soft melodious tune, hoping it would calm the scientists.
"Welcome to my house." My lips form a wide smile.
I believe they will be able to work better in a calm state.
Xenora, Emily, and the other underlings escorting the scientists bowed to me. Then, they said in unison. "Your Excellency Lord Vorn. We are pleased to see you again."
"You have all done an excellent job." I patted Emily and Xenora's shoulders and whispered to them. "I'm proud of you both. I heard you two didn't even fight at all."
Emily scratched her hair and responded. "Well, it's because I prefer to be on the carriage's roof so as not to meet her."
Meanwhile, Xenora remained silent.
"In the end, you two were able to keep things peaceful. You girls were so responsible as my generals." I chuckled, then spoke to the other demons as well. "Now it's time for you to rest. We have prepared everything. You just have to tell these succubi what you want."
I pointed at the several succubi lined up beside the throne. "You all deserve a nice long break."
"Yeah, I want to relax my muscles with a hot bath." Emily massaged her shoulders.
Suddenly a male scientist knelt before me and had tears in his eyes. "Please, lord Vorn! Let us go home! My family still needs me!"
Several others did the same.
"I still have to support my parents!"
"My wife is pregnant!"
I smiled again and raised my hand, silencing them in an instant.
Yeah, sometimes a smile like this would be more intimidating. It's harder for them to guess what I'm going to do. It was because their brains assumed that a demon lord would do something cruel to his captives.
"We are dealing with that." I crouched before them. "You've all told my comrades about your families, right? We are currently working on bringing them here. Progress is slow due to winter, but we guarantee that your families are safe."
The scientists exchanged glances, and I stood up.
"We will provide what you all need here. And most importantly, we will provide various interesting tasks for you as scientists." I continued. "You won't believe what we're about to show you."
They looked even more confused. They would surely think themselves to be tortured for doing my bidding.
Robyn then approached them with her human friends. The blonde-haired woman joined in the explanation. "Look at us. Do we look miserable here? No, we're happy."
Then she rubbed two small children's heads from several kids by her side. Those little humans looked so pleased. Well, I have to give them a decent treat to be willing to do that, though.
"Let's go." I snapped my fingers. "Follow me."
The scientists had to walk behind me under the glares of the minotaurs.
"Yes, we are demons. No one can argue with that. We are different creatures from you humans." I explained as I continued walking. "However, it doesn't mean that we just want to destroy this world."
Ayre, who was walking next to me, added. "We want to build a better world instead. Isn't that wonderful?"
Moments later, we entered a room the size of a football field. The scientists gaped at the black chunks of various shapes being examined by the shapeshifters.
"Ladies and gentlemen." Bran came up to them with a big smile. "Do you know what all this is?"
One of the scientists stepped forward and stared at what looked like a horse's nose, then hissed. "Is this…. Demon chariot?"
The scientists gasped, and Bran didn't miss the chance. He handed a small box to one of the female scientists, then sprinted away from us.
When he was at the end of the room, Bran brought a similar box to his mouth. "Can you guys hear me?"
The female scientist flinched so much that she almost dropped the box. Yes, Bran didn't scream at all. His voice emerged from the object the female scientist was holding, although it was of poor quality and barely audible.
The other magic scientists approached the female scientist and started discussing the prototype of a communication device.
"We are currently researching the lost magic of the demon chariot," I spoke again. "And we use what we find from this thing for various purposes. One of them is long-distance communication."
"I'm sure you will be even more amazed when you see the various subjects we are researching and creating." Ayre then took out a black bracelet from his shirt pocket. "One of them is this. I used the pocket dimension magic to create this container."
Now they looked more curious than scared. This is good. We're already on the right track.
Ayre put the bracelet on my left hand. The scientists gasped again when that thing gave off a light that enveloped my entire arm.
"Are you all ready?" I laughed a little.
