As the prime minister collapsed, the prophet squeezed the heart in her hand until it burst. She then looked at her palms which were full of blood.
I could barely contain my excitement. Illuminated by the firelight from a distance, the scales on her skin twinkled, highlighting her beauty. And the color of the splash of blood on her body gave a new color to her figure.
All of this made my heart flutter uncontrollably. Not to mention what she just did. I managed to dig up the ruthless side that might have been hidden all this time. And that makes me sure she will show us some other exciting surprises.
She then looked around, seeing clusters of flames still fluttering in various directions in the distance.
Then, she raised her hands and closed her eyes. Her breathing became very slow.
And what happened next left me speechless. The flames shrank and disappeared in just a few seconds, leaving only smoke billowing in the air.
"This…." Ayre hissed. "Even in five hundred years, I have never seen anything like this."
Apparently, this is one of the miracles that the prophet has.
The dragon lady suddenly knelt down. I also knelt near her, then took off my robe and draped it over her basically naked body.
"Listen to me, Velvet," I whispered when I realized she had tears in her eyes. Again. "I understand your feeling. I have also destroyed the lives of many innocent people. However, believe me. Their sacrifice is not in vain. You succeeded in destroying the evil in this country."
I put my mouth close to her ear, then gave a whisper that was so low but sharp. "We can build this country for the better."
The prophet closed her eyes and wiped away her tears but chose not to answer me.
"Miss Velvet," Lexi called the prophet with a gulp. "It seems she wants to talk to you."
The prophet moved closer to her best friend. Candice's mouth twitched, even though her eyes only gave a blank stare.
"Looks like you have to put your ear to her mouth." Lexi gave advice, and I could see that the edges of the doctor's eyes were decorated with clear liquid. "So you can hear what she has to say."
The prophet followed the advice, and Candice kept moving her mouth. Not long after, the pink-haired mage's tears began to fall.
"Yes, I will take you to your parents' house, Candice." Velvet smiled, even with tears streaming down her face. "And believe me, we'll get you healed of this damned thing."
Suddenly, Lexi sobbed. Our attention was immediately focused on the doctor, who was now shaking her head.
"What's the matter?" Velvet widened her eyes at the dark green-haired woman. "What's wrong with Candice?"
Instead of answering right away, Lexi looked at me.
I sighed. "If you have something to say, then say it, Doc. It's part of your job to tell the truth, right?"
Lexi wiped away her tears, approached Velvet, and whispered in the prophet's ear.
Instantly, that dragon woman's eyes widened even more. Her body shook, but she looked up at Candice with a smile.
"Yeah, she said you'd be able to walk again in no time." Velvet gently stroked her best friend's head.
And Candice still didn't respond. She became like a doll that couldn't move on its own.
Lexi hurriedly got away from the prophet and took a few steps away while turning her back on us. I followed the doctor and asked in a low voice. "What happened?"
"Although this is different…. Her symptoms are the same as my mother's." Lexi was still wiping away her tears. "Many of her nerves are dead or severely weakened…. She can't be cured."
Oh, what a shame. Even though I also wanted to recruit Candice. She can be mental support for the prophet.
I signaled to the shapeshifters and succubi, who had been standing guard in the distance. They approached me, and I went to Velvet again.
"I know you're still angry, sad, and tired." I patted the dragon lady's shoulder. "However, this isn't over yet, Velvet. We still have things to do before this country falls into chaos."
"Let our comrades take care of your friend. They will take her to a safe place, and doctor Lexi will continue to monitor her condition." Ayre added. "We vowed to take good care of her."
"No." Velvet answered in a cold tone. "Even if she has to go to a safe place, she has to stay with me... At least until I take her to her family."
I nodded. "It's okay. But before that, I still have things to talk to you about, Velvet. This is about the continuation of Ascaind country and about us."
She looked at me, and I had a hard time guessing her expression. It's like a mix of sadness, anger, and disappointment. However, I no longer saw the disgust on her face.
"The people must see that we are fully united. That will be a sign that the prophet and the demons have the same goal: to make this world better. So the people won't be afraid of us, and maybe they'll even support us." I gave her a warm smile. "However, all of that cannot be just shown with words, but an action."
She didn't respond, and I held out my hand.
"Velvet Byrne." The excitement inside me is getting stronger. This moment is the most awaited part of my series of plans. "Marry me."
The atmosphere became quiet. Velvet just looked at my hand, still without saying anything.
Even so, I don't see the shock in her eyes. Perhaps she could have guessed this would happen.
After a while, she finally closed her eyes, took a deep breath, then put her hand over mine. "I accept your proposal, great Lord Vorn. From now on, we will unite. I understand your ways."
I widened my smile. This may be my most outstanding achievement in this world.
Instead of defeating your nemesis, wouldn't it be better to make her yours?
We both stood with me holding her hands. I looked at her, and she looked back at me.
She's getting prettier when we're this close.
Then, we closed our eyes. I linked my lips to hers, feeling the dragon lady's warmth and tenderness.
She's mine entirely.
