Chapter 271 271 – New Home

"Sometimes I wonder, am I really a demon lord?" I shrugged, then handed the baby in my arms to its mother. "Well, take good care of him."

Since long ago, I couldn't be as ruthless as I wanted.

Lana gulped, looking at me deeply. "May I make a request, my lord? I hope you will not be angered by this."

"What is it?"

Lana was silent for a few seconds, then responded. "Can you promise not to kill Ethan Jr, no matter what?"

I widened my smile. "Of course."

As Velvet said, I may get the second prophet by my side in the future.

Ritor got up and approached us, then stopped near me.

"Thank you, my lord." He sighed. "We really appreciate this."

I tapped his upper arm. "Come on, big guy. Tears don't suit you."

"I seem to have gone soft, my lord."

I chuckled again. "That's why I fired you."

"So, I'm not a general anymore, huh? Finally, I don't have to care for those annoying subordinates." He sneered. "It means that you must choose my successor, my lord. My suggestion is to create a competition to determine the new general. The minotaurs will respect whoever they think is stronger."

"I see." I nodded. "Well, I have to go now. You have many things to take care of, unlike you, who are currently unemployed.

"Farewell, my lord." Ritor bowed, and Lana followed him. "Thank you for everything."

I turned and immediately approached my bike.

"I am proud of you, my lord." Velvet wiped her tears again. "I knew you wouldn't do that."

I didn't answer and started to climb my bike. And that's when I realized one thing. My hand holding the handlebars was shaking violently.

Velvet immediately grabbed it. "Let me drive this."

I stared at Velvet's teary eyes, about to argue. But at the same time, I also feel my stamina dwindling fast.

"Sorry." I hissed, hating my condition so much. I've become weaker by using power in elf city and against Ritor.

Velvet contacted someone with her communication book. "No one should see me with lord Vorn. We don't need guards."

Ah, she's so considerate. She knows I don't want others to see my pitiful condition like this.

"Tell them I have appointed a few to take care of the Ritor family. Have them come here immediately." My lungs are starting to have a hard time breathing. I wasn't sure I could hold the communication book either, so I asked the former prophet for help.

After giving a brief to my subordinates, Velvet helped me get on the bike. But my body was shaking. It was then that Ritor held me from falling.

"This is getting worse, huh?" the former general asked.

"Shut up." I laughed bitterly. I didn't particularly appreciate being treated like that. "Mind your own business."

"You are not my boss anymore, but you are still someone I respect, my lord." The minotaur continued. "I will help you if you need me."

"Hardly." I chuckled again. "You are of no use to me."

***

A few Days Passed, a male shapeshifter opens the door of a house in the valley of a hill for the Ritors. The place was quite remote and away from the people, so they could be safer.

Some of Lord Vorn's followers hate prophetic things, and some even hate Velvet, even though she is the demon lord's wife.

This is coupled with the people who want to revive the religion of the prophet Lyra. So, if a new prophet appears, they will want to take advantage of it.

"I take my leave. Someone will send supplies to you every two weeks, so you don't need to worry. And if there is a request, just tell it via the communication book." The shapeshifter explained while pointing at a small blue book on a table. "And as per lord Vorn's orders, you guys keep a low profile."

"Thank You." Lana, holding her sleeping son, smiled.

Ritor added. "We appreciate it."

The shapeshifter put on his hoodie and left.

"This is too nice." Lana looked around at the large wooden building. Lord Vorn ordered the sorcerers with the plant element to construct it in no time. "Perhaps this is on par with our former home…. Or maybe even bigger."

"Don't worry, I'm unemployed." Ritor chuckled. "I will always help you clean this house, apart from when I'm hunting."

Lana smiled and was about to respond, but the baby was crying. "Ah, you hungry, champ? A moment."

The woman walked deeper into the house to breastfeed Ethan Jr while Ritor looked around the house again, then sat down in one of the living room chairs.

The minotaur took a deep breath. He didn't expect to retire this early and enjoy a quiet life.

Just as he yawned, the communication book on the table vibrated. The horned creature took the object, thinking that it was Lord Vorn who was contacting him. Maybe his former boss wanted to ask how Ritor and his family were doing.

pαndα---noνɐ1,сoМ "Former general Ritor." But what came out of the book was a different voice, heavier and sinister. "Do you still remember me?"

Ritor was silent for a moment. "Who?"

This time the book let out a laugh. "It's me, Brigon. One of the minotaurs that became your best subordinate. We often fight side by side."

"Brigon? Brigon who? In the past, I had many subordinates. I can't remember them one by one."

"You forgot about me!? What the fuck!!! You forgot that I was the one who killed the most lizardmen besides you!?"

Ritor yawned again. "What do you want, Brigon?"

"I just want to let you know that soon, there will be a new general selection. Look, I will be a much greater leader than you. You just have to enjoy your life."

"Huh?" Ritor scratched his hair. "I'm no longer part of Lord Vorn's army. How do I see you?"

There was a moment of silence. Brigon could not answer but only gave a long, low groan-like voice.

"Honey, can you help me a second!?" Lana's voice came from inside the house.

Ritor slightly moved the book away from his face and shouted. "I'm coming!!!"

As soon as he put the communication device to his ear again, he said quickly. "Bye, whatever your name is!"

"Hey, Ritor!" Brigon called the former general out, but the former general simply threw the book on the table. "I'm not done talking yet!!!"
